A CURT trailer hitch is the key to pursuing your passions, whether you're taking the family boat out for an afternoon on the water or packing up the mountain bikes for a day on the trails. This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Honda CR-V (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

The hitch is rated for a maximum of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The hitch is designed for use with CURT ball mount #45521. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
Required tools are: ratchet, 11/16" and 3/4" sockets, 6" socket extension, torque wrench, masking tape, aviation shears, Phillips head screwdriver, pry bar, electrical tape, and safety glasses.
Yes. You must lower the exhaust by removing 3 rubber isolators from the exhaust towards the rear of the vehicle before beginning installation. After installation is complete, you raise the exhaust by reversing this step.
Yes. You must trim the lower fascia and sensor bracket (if present) as shown in the trim diagrams provided in the manual. The manual includes separate diagrams for lower fascia trim and sensor bracket trim.
This step applies only to hands-free liftgate enabled vehicles. Remove 2 screws and 1 push pin holding the sensor to the lower bumper fascia using a Phillips head screwdriver and pry tool. Remove the forward-most sensor antenna (if present), cover it in the provided corrugated plastic tubing, and push it through the hole in the Main Body Plate. Adjust as needed and use electrical tape to adhere the antenna ends to the tubing. Reinstall the sensor after final torquing.
Fishwire is used to guide the carriage bolts and spacers through the vehicle access holes to the attachment holes on each side of the frame rail. You thread 2 fishwires with 2 carriage bolts (7/16-14 x 1 1/4) and 2 CM-SP2 spacers through the vehicle access holes, then use the fishwires to pull the hardware through to the frame attachment points.
Raise the hitch into position while feeding the fishwires through the holes in the hitch. Once the hitch is in place, remove the fishwires and loosely secure 2 7/16" hex flange nuts on each side. Do not fully tighten until the final torque step.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 59 ft-lbs and all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. This includes the carriage bolts, hex flange nuts, and the tow loop plate attachment.
Secure the Tow Loop Plate to the recovery loop using 1 carriage bolt (1/2"-13 x 2"), 1 CM-SP32 spacer, and 1 hex flange nut (1/2"-13 Grade 8). Torque the 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs.
The kit includes: 4 carriage bolts (7/16-14 x 1 1/4), 4 hex flange nuts (7/16-14), 4 CM-SP2 spacers (0.250 x 0.88 x 2.25" square hole), 4 pieces of 7/16" fishwire, 1 carriage bolt (1/2"-13 x 2"), 1 CM-SP32 spacer (0.188 x 1.50 x 2.00" round hole), 1 hex flange nut (1/2"-13 Grade 8), and 1 piece of 3/8" nylon slit wire loom (part 12209-04563).
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning. If you are hesitant to undertake this task, contact an authorized CURT installer for assistance. Call CURT Technical Support at 800-798-0813 if you have questions.
Two people may be required to ease installation. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This should be done regularly throughout the life of the hitch.
The hitch complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
