It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Ford EcoSport (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. Yes, lower fascia panel removal is required for 2.0 engine models. For 1.0 engine models, skip this step. On 2.0 models, locate 10 screws and 2 nuts on the lower fascia panel, remove them using 5.5mm and 10mm sockets, and set the panel aside for later reinstallation.
Yes, lowering the exhaust is required. Remove the 2 rubber exhaust isolators and support the exhaust during installation to prevent damage. This step applies to all engine models.
You remove 6 M10 bolts total: 4 from the driver side framerail and 2 from the passenger side framerail. Use a 15mm socket to remove them. These same 6 bolts are then reused to attach the hitch to the vehicle.
Torque all M10 hardware to 45 ft-lbs. Torque all 1/2" hardware (the handle nut, hex bolt, and conical tooth washer) to 110 ft-lbs.
Trimming the lower fascia panel is optional for 2.0 engine models. You may either not reinstall the panel or trim it to fit around the hitch. If trimming, mark out 3 sections using masking tape and trim using aviation shears. All dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to final installation.
