Engineered for specific makes and models, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets provide the ideal solution for complementing the power of your 5th wheel trailer hitch. A custom 5th wheel bracket features a shape that contours to the frame of your truck and uses pre-drilled holes in the frame wherever possible to make installation quick and easy. Depending on your model of pickup truck, they also reduce or eliminate the need for drilling. These particular custom 5th wheel brackets offer a custom fit for certain model years of the Ford F-250 Super Duty, F-350 Super Duty and F-450 Super Duty (see application info to verify fitment). Finished in a durable liquid A-coat, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets are made to last. They include all necessary mounting hardware and are rated for up to 30,000 lbs. Four types of spacers are used: (1) CM-SP136 (.313" x 1.00 x 2.00" U-shape) and CM-SP27 (.188 x 1.00 x 2.00" U-shape) are placed between the bracket/mounting rail and bed in Rows 1, 2, 3, and 4 to prevent bed collapse; (2) CM-SP34 (.188 x 1.50 x 3.00" round hole) is used under the center hole fastener; (3) CM-SP33 (.250 x 1.50 x 2.00" square hole) is used in Row 2; (4) 16431-SP-P (powdered spacer) is installed in bed support ends in Row 2 (2023+ models use different configuration than 2022 and older).
Temporarily install the side plates by placing four 5/8" hex bolts and washers through the side plates and through the holes in the frame rails, then secure with hex flange nuts. This allows you to mark hole locations with a center punch before drilling. The side plates are then removed, holes are drilled and enlarged, and the side plates are reinstalled permanently with carriage bolts and spacers.
Center punch marks are used to transfer hole locations from the side plates to the truck bed. In Step 2, you mark Row 1 locations, then place the rearward mounting rail to verify alignment. You then mark Row 2 holes and verify alignment with the center of the bed support. This ensures the mounting rails are correctly positioned before drilling.
Installation sequence: (1) Temporarily install side plates with 5/8" bolts to mark Row 1 and 2 hole locations; (2) Drill and enlarge Row 1 and 2 holes, reinstall side plates and rearward mounting rail with carriage bolts and spacers, loosely tighten; (3) Install Row 2 hex bolts and handle nuts loosely; (4) Position forward mounting rail with saddles/slider/goose, drill Row 3 and 4 holes; (5) Enlarge Row 3 and 4 holes, install forward mounting rail with carriage bolts and spacers, loosely tighten; (6) Install center hole carriage bolt with spacers; (7) Torque all fasteners in sequence: mounting rails to frame brackets (110 lb-ft), then frame brackets to truck frame (180 lb-ft).
Fasteners are installed loosely during Steps 3, 4, and 6 to allow for alignment and positioning of the mounting rails. All fasteners are tightened only in Step 8, after the forward mounting rail is positioned and all holes are drilled. This two-stage approach ensures proper alignment before final tightening.
Position the forward mounting rail by inserting its tabs into the already-installed rearward mounting rail and pushing it tight toward the other mounting rail. Ensure the mounting rail is centered between the box sides on the length of the truck bed floor. This positions the mounting rail correctly and ensures the 5th wheel has a snug fit. If using Step 5b (when hitch attachment is not available), place the forward rail 22" on center from the rear rail and center it side to side.
Step 5a is used when the 5th wheel saddles/slider/goose are available during installation—the forward mounting rail is positioned by inserting tabs into the rearward rail and pushing tight, which automatically centers it. Step 5b is used when hitch attachment is not available—you manually measure 22" on center from forward to rear rails and center the rail side to side before drilling. Both methods achieve the same final positioning.
Install a 1/2" x 1-3/4" carriage bolt in the center hole of the mounting rails. Place CM-SP27 and CM-SP136 spacers between the rail and the bed, and secure the bolt with a CM-SP34 spacer and 1/2" flange nut on the bottom of the bed.
Two drill bit sizes are used: 1/8" drill bits are used to create initial pilot holes in Rows 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the truck bed. These 1/8" holes are then enlarged to 9/16" using a 9/16" drill bit before installing the final fasteners.

If alignment issues occur, verify that: (1) The center punch marks in Step 2 correctly align with the rearward mounting rail in Row 1 and the bed support center in Row 2; (2) The forward mounting rail is centered between the box sides on the truck bed floor (Step 5a) or measured 22" on center from the rear rail (Step 5b); (3) All fasteners remain loose until Step 8 to allow adjustment. If using Step 5b, re-measure and re-center punch Row 4 hole locations before drilling to verify correct positioning due to bed support location variances.
Ensure that spacers are properly placed between the bracket/mounting rail and the bed before tightening bolts. The spacers (CM-SP136 and CM-SP27 U-shape spacers) distribute the load and prevent bed collapse. If collapse occurs, loosen the bolts, verify spacer placement, and retighten. Do not tighten fasteners without spacers in place.
Plastic bed liners must be trimmed away in the areas where the mounting rails will be installed to allow metal-to-metal contact between the rails and the truck bed. Spray-on liners do not require trimming and are acceptable. Trim the plastic liner before beginning installation to avoid interference with the mounting rails.
