Depending on your model of pickup truck, they also reduce or eliminate the need for drilling. These particular custom 5th wheel brackets offer a custom fit for certain model years of the Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty (see application info to verify fitment). Finished in a durable liquid A-coat, CURT custom 5th wheel brackets are made to last. They include all necessary mounting hardware and are designed to be used in conjunction with CURT industry-standard 5th wheel base rails #16104 or #16204 (base rails sold separately).

The U-shaped spacer (CM-SP136) is installed in the corrugation between the truck box and side plates before inserting the 1/2" carriage bolts. It ensures metal-to-metal contact between the mounting rail and the truck bed floor, which is critical for proper load transfer.
For the driver side: slide the spacer over the coiled end of the fishwire, attach it to the 1/2" x 1 1/4" carriage bolt, thread the other end through the back side of the frame and side plate, then gently pull to draw the bolt through and position the plate. For the passenger side: thread the coiled end through the front of the frame and out the gap at the shock tower, slide the spacer over it, attach the bolt, push the hardware into the cavity, thread the other end through the back of the side plate, then pull to draw the bolt through.
First tighten all fasteners snug (not fully) as you install each component to keep parts from moving. After all components are installed, torque the mounting rails to the side plates first, then torque the remaining fasteners. Use 110 lb-ft for all 1/2" fasteners and 210 lb-ft for all 5/8" fasteners.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This includes the carriage bolts and flange nuts connecting the mounting rails to the side plates and frame.
