A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevy Silverado 1500 HD, 1500 HD Classic, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500, 3500 Classic or Suburban 2500 and GMC Sierra 1500 HD, 1500 HD Classic, 2500 HD, 2500 HD Classic, 3500, 3500 Classic or Yukon XL 2500 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). The CURT 2" Front Hitch, Select Silverado, Suburban, Sierra, Yukon (Fascia Trim) Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK31108) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Part number 31108 is designed for Chevrolet Silverado 1500HD, 2500, 2500HD, and 3500; GMC Sierra 2500, 2500HD, and 3500; Chevrolet Suburban 2500; and GMC Yukon XL 2500. Your vehicle must have amber turn signals. If your vehicle matches these specifications, the hitch is compatible.
If your vehicle is equipped with OEM tow hooks, you must remove them before installation. Remove the tow hook fasteners from inside the frame and the bottom of the frame, and return them to the vehicle owner. The hitch installation uses the same mounting holes.
Due to variations in tow hook mounting holes, it may be necessary to enlarge the 1/2" holes in the hitch to 9/16" holes. Check the fit during installation and enlarge only if required.
Fascia trimming is optional on 2500HD and 3500 models. Consult the vehicle owner before trimming. The manual does not indicate whether trimming is required on other compatible models.

Additional fasteners are needed if OEM tow hooks are present.

Raise the hitch into position and install fasteners. Use 1/2" flat washers as spacers between the hitch and the side of the frame if necessary. The spacers (part CM-SP33) should be oriented as shown in the hardware configuration diagram on page 1.

All M12 fasteners must be torqued to 78 lb.-ft.
