A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevy Blazer, C1500, K1500, K2500, K3500 or Tahoe and GMC C1500, K1500, K2500, K3500 or Yukon (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Yes, the CURT 2" Front Receiver Hitch, Select Chevy, GMC C, K, Suburban, Blazer, Yukon, Tahoe Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK31042) is designed to fit the 1992-1994 Chevrolet Blazer.
The CURT 2" Front Receiver Hitch, Select Chevy, GMC C, K, Suburban, Blazer, Yukon, Tahoe Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK31042) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Part number 31042 is designed for 4x4 models only: Chevy and GMC trucks, Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Full Size Blazer equipped with factory tow hooks. This hitch is not compatible with 2-wheel drive models or vehicles without tow hooks. Verify your vehicle matches these specifications before purchasing.
No. The 31042 is designed for 4x4 models only. It is not compatible with 2-wheel drive trucks.
The 31042 installation procedure requires removal of factory tow hooks as the first step. If your vehicle does not have tow hooks, this hitch may not be compatible. Contact Curt Manufacturing or your installer to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
The kit includes: 6 square hole spacers (CM-SP1, 0.250 x 1.50 x 2.00"), 6 serrated flange nuts 1/2-13 UNC Grade 8 (part 20-00062), 4 M12x1.75 hex head cap screws Grade 10.9 (part 10-10458), 4 1/2" washers (part 30-00149), 1 piece of 1/2" fishwire, and 6 carriage bolts 1/2-13 UNC 1-3/4" Grade 8 (part 10-10272). Some vehicles have existing weldnuts on the frame rail instead of requiring fishwire installation.
No. All required fasteners are included in the kit: M12 fasteners, 1/2" carriage bolts, flange nuts, washers, and fishwire. No additional hardware is needed for installation.
No. The manual explicitly states "NO drilling required." The hitch uses existing holes on the frame rail and factory weldnuts where available, or fishwire installation through existing holes.
Yes. Step 1 of the installation procedure requires removal of the tow hooks before raising the hitch into position. The tow hooks must be removed to allow the hitch to fit properly.
1) Remove tow hooks. 2) Raise hitch into position and loosely fasten with two M12 fasteners supplied, one each side. 3) Fishwire 1/2" carriage bolt and block in the hole toward the rear of the vehicle. 4) Fishwire 1/2" carriage bolts and blocks into all available holes. 5) Raise hitch into position and fasten with 1/2" flange nuts provided. 6) Torque all M12 fasteners to 86 lb.-ft. and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft.
Fishwire is a method of installing fasteners through existing holes in the frame rail. The 1/2" carriage bolts and spacer blocks are threaded through existing holes using the supplied fishwire. Some vehicles have existing weldnuts on the frame rail that allow direct bolt installation instead of fishwire.
All M12 fasteners must be torqued to 86 lb.-ft.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb.-ft.
The winch cable must not exceed 15 degrees up or down from horizontal, and must not exceed 45 degrees left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles may overload the winch, winch mount, and/or front mounted receiver.
No. The manual explicitly warns: "NEVER use a ball and/or ball mount as an anchor point for tow strap or winch cable. Severe personal injury or death could result." Use only OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount for attachment.
Attach the return cable to the tow hook or recovery eye, not to the winch mount. Attaching the return cable to the winch mount may overload the winch mount and/or front mounted receiver.
The GAWR is the maximum weight your vehicle's front axle can safely support. You must not exceed your vehicle's front axle GAWR when using front-mounted accessories. Exceeding GAWR may overload the front axle and/or suspension, which could result in accident, property damage, and personal injury. Find your GAWR in your owner's manual or on the specification plate on the driver's door frame. Measure gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of your loaded vehicle on a scale.
Yes. The manual warns that rear wheel traction may be reduced when using front-mounted accessories, which could affect handling. Reduce speed and drive with caution. Additionally, the hitch extends the front of the vehicle, which may reduce approach angle. Use caution when parking and maneuvering.
Before using the hitch, verify that: 1) The front-mounted license plate is not obstructed; 2) Vehicle lights are not obstructed; 3) Air flow into the grille opening is not blocked; 4) The driver's view is not obstructed; 5) Your vehicle's front axle weight does not exceed the GAWR; 6) You do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection is recommended as part of vehicle maintenance.

The 31042 is for 4x4 Chevy/GMC trucks, Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Full Size Blazer with factory tow hooks only. It does not fit 2-wheel drive models.

Torque M12 fasteners to 86 lb.-ft. and 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft.
