A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevy Blazer or S10 and GMC Jimmy or Sonoma (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

The 31021 has a gross load capacity of 9,000 lbs. trailer weight and 350 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch, and 3,500 lbs. maximum line pull when used for straight-line pull (winching). Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The hitch weighs 30 lbs.
The kit includes 8 M10×1.5 hex cap screws (HHCS) grade 10.9 with zinc plating (part number 10-10414) and 8 S-CON washers 7/16 inch (part number 30-00163). Installation also uses existing weld nuts on the vehicle frame rail and existing washers from the plastic shield bolts.
Remove the existing bolts securing the tow hooks and plastic shield to the vehicle frame. These components will be reinstalled after the hitch is positioned.
1) Remove existing bolts securing tow hooks and plastic shield to vehicle frame. 2) Raise the hitch into position between the frame and plastic shield, positioning it over the existing weld nuts. 3) Fasten using the provided hardware (8 M10×1.5 bolts and washers) and the existing washers from the plastic shield bolts. 4) Torque all bolts to 45 lb-ft.
Torque all bolts to 45 lb-ft.
The maximum line pull rating is 3,500 lbs. This rating applies only when the winch cable does not exceed 15 degrees up or down from horizontal and 45 degrees left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles or the line pull rating may overload the winch, winch mount, and receiver.
No. Never use a ball or ball mount as an anchor point for a tow strap or winch cable. Severe personal injury or death could result. Use OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount instead.
The front axle GAWR is the maximum weight your vehicle's front axle can safely carry. Do not exceed this rating when using front-mounted accessories. Exceeding GAWR may overload the front axle and suspension, resulting in accident, property damage, and personal injury. Find your vehicle's GAWR in the owner's manual or on the specification plate on the driver's door frame. Measure gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of your loaded vehicle on a scale.
Reposition the front-mounted license plate if obstructed by the hitch. Do not obstruct vehicle lights. If the hitch blocks lights, consult the manufacturer or a professional installer for repositioning options.
The hitch may reduce rear wheel traction, which could affect handling. Reduce speed and drive with caution. The hitch extends the front of the vehicle, which may reduce approach angle. Use caution when parking and maneuvering. Ensure the hitch does not obstruct the driver's view or block air flow into the grille opening.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This maintenance helps prevent loosening due to vibration and wear.
Attach the return cable to the tow hook or recovery eye, not to the winch mount. Attaching the return cable to the winch mount may overload the winch mount and/or front-mounted receiver.
For maximum line pull rating, the winch cable must not exceed 15 degrees up or down from horizontal and must not exceed 45 degrees left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles may overload the winch, winch mount, and receiver.
The 31021 fits 1994-2001 Chevrolet S10/S15 Pickup and S10 Blazer (excludes ZR2) and 1994-2001 GMC Sonoma and Jimmy. Confirm your exact model before purchasing.
