A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Ram 2500 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

No, drilling is not required. The installation requires fascia trimming only.
Yes, fascia trimming is required. The lower plastic opening must be trimmed using a knife or aviation shears. The bumper should be masked during this process, and the front license plate holder may need to be relocated.
1. Remove the two bolts and nuts securing the lower impact bars using a 24mm socket and wrench. Remove and set aside the impact bar if loose. Remove the bolt and nut in line with the previously removed bolts using an 18mm socket and wrench. Repeat on the other side and return all original bolts and nuts to the vehicle owner. 2. Mask the bumper and trim the lower plastic opening with a knife or aviation shears. 3. Install the M12, M14, and 9/16" hardware into the frame rails, leaving them flush with the interior of the frame. Raise the hitch into position and install the M14 bolts fully into the frame rails, sliding spacers between the hitch and frame at the forwardmost mounting location with the M12 hardware. Loosely install the remaining hardware. 4. Torque all M14 bolts to 126 ft-lbs and all M12 bolts to 79 ft-lbs.

The round hole spacers (.188" x 1.25" x 1.50") are installed between the hitch and frame at the forwardmost mounting location with the M12 hardware.
The conical-toothed washers (9/16") should be oriented with the conical side facing outward, as shown in the assembly diagram on page 2.
All original bolts and nuts removed from the impact bars should be set aside and returned to the vehicle owner.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity when using the hitch.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
The installation difficulty is rated as Moderate. Installation difficulty levels are based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on the installer's level of expertise, condition of the vehicle, and availability of proper tools and equipment.
The M12, M14, and 9/16" hardware should first be installed into the frame rails, leaving them flush with the interior of the frame. The hitch is then raised into position and the M14 bolts are installed fully into the frame rails. Spacers are slid between the hitch and frame at the forwardmost mounting location with the M12 hardware, and the remaining hardware is loosely installed.
Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Proper tools will improve the quality of installation and reduce the time required. A full-color copy of the instruction manual, helpful videos, and guides are available at www.curtmfg.com.
