A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Nissan Titan (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

CURT offers a variety of high-quality trailer hitches and accessories for select vehicle models. Find the perfect fit for your towing needs at TowUniverse.

The hitch has a gross load capacity of 9,000 lbs max when used as a straight line pull. When used as a weight-carrying hitch, the manual shows blank spaces for trailer weight and tongue weight specifications, so contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634 for those values. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The hitch weight is 90 lbs.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two holes into the frame using a 17/32" drill bit at marked locations on each side of the vehicle. This is a permanent modification to the frame.
Required tools are: safety glasses, power drill, 17/32" drill bit, center punch, ratchet, sockets (19mm, 17mm, 11/16"), 11/16" boxed end wrench, torque wrench, and socket extension. Proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
Yes. Step 1 requires you to remove the tow hooks and set them aside. The hardware is to be returned to the vehicle owner and will not be reused. You will reattach the tow hooks later during installation (Step 5).
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Professional installers typically complete installation in 39 minutes. DIY novice installers should allow approximately 45 minutes. The manual notes that these times are for professional installers, and actual time may vary based on experience and familiarity with the vehicle.
Torque M12 fasteners to 86 lb-ft, 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft, and 7/16" fasteners to 70 lb-ft. These torque values are applied during Step 6 when assembling the center hitch to the side plates.
Fishwiring is a technique for installing fasteners into frame weld nuts. The manual specifies that you must fishwire hardware into the frame using the reverse pull method, as shown in the installation illustrations. You fishwire fasteners into one hole first, then into the other hole last. This allows the fasteners to be secured into existing frame weld nuts without additional drilling at those specific points.
No. Steps 2 and 5 specify finger tightening only. You must wait until Step 6 to apply final torque specifications: M12 fasteners to 86 lb-ft, 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft, and 7/16" fasteners to 70 lb-ft.
The kit includes: 8 bolts (7/16-14 UNC, 1-1/4", Grade 8), 8 serrated flange nuts (7/16-14 UNC, Grade 8), 4 bolts (1/2-13 UNC, 1-1/2", Grade 8), 4 square hole spacers (0.188 x 1.00 x 3.00"), 4 serrated flange nuts (1/2-13 UNC, Grade 8), 4 hex head cap screws (M12x1.25, 50mm, Class 10.9), 2 washers (1/2"), 2 round hole spacers (0.188 x 1.50 x 2.00"), and 4 pieces of 1/2" fishwire.
The hitch has a gross load capacity of 9,000 lbs max when used as a straight line pull. For maximum line pull rating, the winch cable must not exceed 15 degrees angle up or down from horizontal, or 45 degrees angle left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles may overload the winch, winch mount, and/or front mounted receiver.
No. Never use a ball and/or ball mount as an anchor point for a tow strap or winch cable. Severe personal injury or death could result. Use OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount for attachment of a tow strap or winch cable.
Attach the return cable to the tow hook or recovery eye when using a snatch block. Do not attach the return cable to the winch mount, as this may overload the winch mount and/or front mounted receiver.
The GAWR is the maximum weight your vehicle's front axle can safely carry. Do not exceed your vehicle's front axle GAWR. Consult your owner's manual or the specification plate on your driver's door frame for the GAWR value. Measure gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of your loaded vehicle on a scale. Exceeding GAWR may overload the front axle and/or suspension, which could result in accident, property damage, and personal injury.
Do not exceed front axle GAWR. Reposition the front-mounted license plate if obstructed. Do not obstruct vehicle lights. Allow free air flow into the grille opening. Rear wheel traction may be reduced, which could affect handling—reduce speed and drive with caution. Accessories extend the front of the vehicle and may reduce approach angle—use caution when parking and maneuvering. Do not obstruct driver view.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a retorque interval, so contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634 for guidance on maintenance intervals.
