A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Yes, the CURT 31322 2-Inch Front Receiver Hitch, Select Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 1500 (Part #BKDK31322) is designed to fit the 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
The CURT 31322 2-Inch Front Receiver Hitch, Select Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 1500 (Part #BKDK31322) fits the following vehicles: 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500; 2007-2013 GMC Sierra 1500. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The CURT 31322 2-Inch Front Receiver Hitch, Select Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 1500 (Part #BKDK31322) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The Curt 31322 has a gross load capacity of 5,000 lbs. trailer weight and 500 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. When used as a straight-line pull (winching), the maximum line pull is 9,000 lbs. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than these ratings.
The hitch weight is 60 lbs.
The Curt 31322 is designed for the Chevy Silverado. However, the manual notes that the front-most factory bolt is not used on 2011 models. For confirmation of fitment to your specific model year and trim, contact Curt Manufacturing technical support at 1-877-287-8634.
You will need a socket wrench, 10mm socket, 17mm socket, 18mm socket, 19mm socket, 21mm socket, 18mm wrench, and a torque wrench. The torque wrench is essential because fasteners must be torqued to specific values: 70 lb-ft for 7/16" hardware, 110 lb-ft for 1/2" hardware, 79 lb-ft for M12-1.75 fasteners, and 126 lb-ft for M14-2.0 fasteners.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses existing holes in the vehicle frame. The manual explicitly states "NO DRILLING REQUIRED" and notes that the installation uses existing factory bolt holes.
The manual states "REMOVE AIR DAM IF PRESENT," indicating that if your vehicle has an air dam, it should be removed for installation. This is a conditional requirement depending on whether your specific Silverado model includes an air dam.
The installation instructions state "(Trim fascia as needed)" when installing the cross member between the plates. The extent and specific location of trimming will depend on your vehicle's configuration. If you are unsure about the extent of trimming required, contact Curt Manufacturing technical support at 1-877-287-8634.
Follow these steps in order: (1) Fasten driver and passenger side plates to corresponding frame rails with existing hardware, installed loosely for adjustment. (2) Install the cross member between the plates and secure with provided hardware, trimming fascia as needed. (3) Insert the small oval spacer into the hole in the frame, then fishwire the 1/2" carriage bolt and spacer through the frame, and secure the main body strap using provided hardware. (4) Torque all fasteners to specification.
The plates are installed loosely to provide adjustment for future installation steps. Once the cross member is installed and aligned, the fasteners are then torqued to their final specifications.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 lb-ft, all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft, all M12-1.75 fasteners to 79 lb-ft, and all M14-2.0 fasteners to 126 lb-ft. A torque wrench is required to achieve these specifications accurately.
The parts list includes: one 1/2" fishwire, one 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolt (1-3/4"), one .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" square hole spacer, eight 1/2" flat washers, one 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nut, eight 7/16-14 UNC carriage bolts (1"), and eight 7/16-14 UNC serrated flange nuts. Additionally, one 11GA A-36 H.R. oval spacer is included. The installation also uses existing factory bolts on the vehicle frame.
The front axle GAWR is the maximum weight your vehicle's front axle is designed to carry. You must not exceed this rating when using front-mounted accessories. To find your GAWR, consult your vehicle's owner's manual or the specification plate on the driver's door frame. Exceeding GAWR may overload the front axle and suspension, which could result in accident, property damage, and personal injury. Measure your gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of your loaded vehicle on a scale.
No. The manual explicitly states: "NEVER use a ball and/or ball mount as an anchor point for tow strap or winch cable. Severe personal injury or death could result." Instead, use OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount for attachment of a tow strap or winch cable.
For maximum line pull rating, the winch cable must not exceed a 15-degree angle up or down from horizontal, and a 45-degree angle left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles may overload the winch, winch mount, and/or front-mounted receiver.
Attach the return cable to the tow hook or recovery eye when using a snatch block. Do not attach the return cable to the winch mount, as this may overload the winch mount and/or front-mounted receiver.
The hitch accessories extend the front of the vehicle, which may reduce the approach angle. Use caution when parking and maneuvering to avoid damage to the hitch or vehicle.
Rear wheel traction may be reduced when the hitch is in use, which could affect handling. Reduce speed and drive with caution when towing or using the hitch.
Ensure that the hitch installation does not: obstruct vehicle lights, obstruct the driver's view, obstruct the front axle license plate (reposition if needed), or block free air flow into the grille opening. These checks are essential for safe vehicle operation and legal compliance.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the hitch's integrity and safety.

No. Never use the ball or ball mount as an anchor point for tow strap or winch cable—severe personal injury or death could result. Use OEM tow hooks or recovery eyes instead.
Winch cable must not exceed 15 degrees up or down from horizontal, or 45 degrees left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these limits may overload the winch and receiver.
