It consists of a junction box that mounts to the front of the towed vehicle, a coiled breakaway lanyard that connects to the motor home, and wiring that integrates with an RVibrake unit installed in the towed vehicle. The system activates the RVibrake brakes automatically if the tow connection fails.

You will need: 1/8" drill bit, 15/32" drill bit, #25 drill bit, and a #10-32 tap. The manual notes that proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce time required. Installation difficulty is rated as Moderate.
The kit includes: (1) junction box with wiring harness, (1) coiled breakaway lanyard, (1) mounting bracket, (1) Velcro patch, (5) nylon ties, (1) rubber grommet, (2) machine screws #10-32, (2) sheet metal screws, (2) lock washers, and (2) flat washers.
Find a convenient spot on the front of the towed vehicle. The manual recommends upside down under the bumper on the driver's side as usually the best location. The mounting surface should be clean before attaching the Velcro patch.
Attach the junction box so that the pin with the ring faces forward and the wiring harness feeds into the engine compartment.

If using thicker metal, tap the holes with a #10-32 tap. 8. Replace the junction box and attach the mounting bracket using the appropriate fasteners.
Yes. The installation requires drilling and hole enlargement. You must drill holes to mount the junction box bracket to the towed vehicle, and you must drill a 15/32" hole through the firewall to route the wiring harness into the passenger compartment.
Drill a 15/32" hole through the firewall. Before drilling, inspect the opposite side of the firewall to ensure you are not drilling into any components of the towed vehicle. In some cases, it is easier to drill from inside the passenger compartment, push a solid wire through the hole into the engine compartment, attach the black wire to it, and pull it into the passenger compartment.
The drill bit size depends on the mounting surface material. If the mounting surface is plastic or thin sheet metal, use a 1/8" drill bit and sheet metal screws. If the mounting surface is thicker metal, use a #25 drill bit, tap the holes with a #10-32 tap, and use #10-32 machine screws.
Use either sheet metal screws (if mounting surface is plastic or thin sheet metal) or #10-32 machine screws (if mounting surface is thicker metal). The manual does not provide a torque specification for these fasteners.
Starting from the junction box, route the black wire up to the firewall, keeping it away from any hot surfaces in the engine compartment. Use the nylon ties provided to secure the wire. Feed the black wire through the 15/32" hole in the firewall and into the passenger compartment.
The rubber grommet is split and placed over the black wire where it passes through the 15/32" hole in the firewall. It must be properly installed to prevent harmful fumes from entering the passenger compartment and to protect the wiring harness from damage.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product. Before drilling through the firewall, inspect the opposite side to ensure you are not drilling into any vehicle components. Properly install the rubber grommet to prevent harmful fumes from entering the passenger compartment. Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The RVibrake Breakaway System is required by law to bring the towed vehicle to a stop in the event that the towed vehicle becomes completely detached from the motor home. Do not operate the RVibrake without a properly functioning Breakaway system.
Attach the small clip on the coiled cable to the ring on the junction box. Clip the larger clip on the coiled cable to the back of the motor home. Do not wrap the coiled cable around the tow bar as this could prevent proper activation.
Before starting on each trip, pull the breakaway pin to test that the Breakaway system activates the RVibrake. This ensures the system is functioning properly before towing.
When the RVibrake is not in use, coil the wiring harness under the dash. Do not leave the plug on the floor as water could get to the plug and cause rust.
