Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT 58939 Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness for Dinghy Towing, Fits Select Jeep Grand Cherokee (Part #BKDK58939) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 58939 RV TOW Harness is designed to fit the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The kit connects to the vehicle's factory taillight connectors and mounts to the frame. Confirm your vehicle model before purchase.
The kit includes: (1) Wiring Harness with 4-Flat Connector, (1) 48" 4-Flat Extension, (20) 15" Cable Ties, (1) 4-Flat Bracket, and (3) #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws.
You will need a Torx T-20 screwdriver to remove the taillight assemblies, a drill with a 3/32" bit to create mounting holes, and a fish tape or stiff wire to route the harness through the vehicle. A clean work area and basic hand tools for cable tie installation are also needed.
It may be necessary to remove the spare tire during installation. The manual cautions to avoid routing the RV harness on the spare tire, so depending on your vehicle's layout and spare tire location, removal may be required to safely route the harness.
Open the rear tailgate and use a Torx T-20 screwdriver to remove the screws holding both taillight assemblies. Gently pull the taillights away and locate the factory wiring harness connectors. Separate the connectors and clean them if necessary. Position the RV harness with the connectors containing Yellow wires between the separated vehicle connectors, then press firmly until they lock. Pull on the connectors to confirm the locks are engaged. Repeat this process on both the driver's side and passenger's side.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends, within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal, then drill a 3/32" hole. Attach the ring terminal on the white wire using one of the #8 self-tapping ground screws provided.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 3/32" holes: one for the white wire ground connection near the RV harness ends (Step 4), and two more 3/32" holes at the front frame rail to mount the 4-Flat bracket (Step 12). Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surfaces.
Route the 4-Flat portion down through the taillight opening and along the existing factory wire harness to the brake lines. Secure it with cable ties as you go. Continue routing it up through the engine compartment along the driver's side and down behind the driver's side headlight. Alternatively, you can route it along the outside of the frame rail using cable ties. Avoid areas with moving parts, sharp edges, heat sources, and fuel lines. Secure the harness along the way with cable ties provided.
Locate the front frame rail that goes across the front of the vehicle. Position the 4-Flat bracket at a suitable location on this frame rail. Use the bracket as a template to mark two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 self-tapping screws provided.
The 4-Flat Harness Color Code is: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
With the 4-Flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp.
The RV harness can be left on the vehicle at all times. If you want to tow a trailer, simply plug in the 4-Flat Harness (part number 58919) into the connection point labeled 'FOR TRAILER TOW USE ONLY: 4-FLAT HARNESS REQUIRED,' and you are ready to tow.
Store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
Position the portion of the RV harness with the heat shield around the exhaust and secure it with cable ties as shown in Figure 2.
Route the portion of harness with the T-Connector ends containing the Green wire to the passenger side along the rear frame rail and secure the conduit to the existing factory wire harness with cable ties provided. Using a fish tape or stiff wire, route this portion up through the passenger side opening. Once the T-Connector ends are routed into the taillight cavity, plug them into the vehicle connectors using the same method as the driver's side (press firmly until they lock and pull to confirm engagement).
Cut the cable ties on the 4-Flat portion of the harness before routing it through the vehicle.
After securing any loose wires to the vehicle's crossmember using cable ties, reinstall the taillights to the vehicle using the Torx T-20 screwdriver and the original screws.
Yes, the Curt 58939 RV TOW Harness is designed specifically for the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
You need a Torx T-20 screwdriver, a drill with a 3/32" bit, and a fish tape or stiff wire to route the harness.
Yes, you must drill three 3/32" holes total: one for the ground wire and two for the 4-Flat bracket mounting.
The kit includes a wiring harness with 4-Flat connector, a 48" 4-Flat extension, 20 cable ties, a 4-Flat bracket, and three #8 self-tapping ground screws.
White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
