The kit includes: (1) Wiring Harness with 4-Flat Connector, (1) 48" 4-Flat Extension, (20) 15" Cable Ties, (1) 4-Flat Bracket, and (3) #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws.
The 4-Flat Harness Color Code is: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
You must remove: the rear tailgate floor cover, spare tire cover and tray, threshold plate (by removing two clips and gently pulling up), cargo net hook covers, floor cargo tie downs bolts, both side panels, spare tire jack (passenger side), and both taillights.
Position the RV harness with connectors containing Yellow wires between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged. Repeat this process for the Green wire connectors on the passenger side.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill one 3/32" hole for the ground screw attachment near the RV harness ends on a clean metal surface, and two 3/32" holes for the 4-Flat bracket mounting on the front frame rail. Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose a clean metal surface, then drill a 3/32" hole and attach the ring terminal on the White wire using the #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screw provided.
From the front of the wheel well, use a fish tape to route up and over to the bottom right of the wheel well. You may need to remove plastic clips to allow the fish tape to pass. Attach the 4-Flat connector to the fish tape and pull it to the front of the wheel well. Replace any clips that were removed.
Locate the front frame rail that goes across the front of the vehicle. Use the bracket as a template to mark two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 Self-Tapping Screws. Secure the 4-Flat connector to the frame rail with a cable tie.
Route the 4-Flat wire above and around the suspension and secure it with a cable tie. Continue routing towards the front of the vehicle along the side frame rail, securing with cable ties along the way. Avoid areas containing moving parts, suspension components, and fuel lines to prevent cutting, pinching, burning, or fuel ignition.
The harness functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp. The 4-Flat connector provides tail lights (Brown), right turn and brake signal (Green), left turn and brake signal (Yellow), and ground (White).
With the 4-Flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Honda CRV. The functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp.
Route the 4-Flat portion of the RV harness through the opening behind the taillight and push the grommet back into the hole around the 4-Flat wire. If necessary, you may make a slit in the grommet. If you do so, apply silicone around the area to seal it.
Store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
After securing any loose wires to the vehicle's crossmember using cable ties, re-install the taillights to the vehicle. The taillight connectors will plug into the RV harness connectors that were connected in Steps 5 and 8.
