They've made the truck said to turn the world under its tires and the trailer that moves mountains in a day. But what about the hitch powerful enough to connect the two? The CURT under-bed Double Lock EZr gooseneck hitch features a gross trailer weight capacity up to 30,000 lbs., a vertical load limit of 7,500 lbs. and easier, more secure towing for your gooseneck trailer. Providing a solid foundation for the Double Lock EZr, this set of gooseneck installation brackets is designed for a vehicle-specific fit to maximize your pickup's towing potential and integrate with the frame seamlessly. Installation with the CURT Double Lock EZr is fast and easy. Because the installation brackets are made vehicle-specific, they use pre-existing holes in the vehicle's frame and require less drilling. The Double Lock EZr requires only one person during installation, using retainer clips to keep bolts secure and the center section fully supported while mounting it into place. It also uses carriage bolts whenever possible for one-wrench tightening and does not require the exhaust to be lowered during installation. This particular set of gooseneck installation brackets is specifically designed to mount the CURT Double Lock EZr gooseneck hitch #60619 on certain years of the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). It features a laser-cut construction for a precise fit and is rated to the vehicle's maximum gross trailer weight capacity. With each gooseneck installation bracket sub kit, we provide the necessary hardware for an easier installation, and we coat our gooseneck brackets in a liquid A-coat to make sure rust and other potential threats are not a problem.

The CURT 60648 Double Lock EZr Gooseneck Installation Brackets, Fits Select Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 HD (Part #BKDK60648) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is . Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The 60648 SUBKIT fits 1999–2007 Chevy/GMC 1500 and 2500LD Silverado/Sierra with classic body style (all bed lengths), and 2001–2010 Chevy/GMC 2500HD and 3500 Silverado/Sierra with classic and new body styles (all bed lengths). It does not fit other truck models or body styles.
Yes, the 60648 SUBKIT is designed for all bed lengths on compatible trucks. However, on short bed models you must check for adequate turning clearance between the front of all trailers and the truck cab before towing. Use the clearance calculation formula on page 5 to verify the trailer will not interfere with the cab during turns.
Yes, but you must perform a clearance check when the truck is both loaded and unloaded to verify the inverted ball will not interfere with the top of the differential. This check is required because the differential sits higher on two-wheel drive trucks and may contact the hitch ball during certain angles or loading conditions.
The kit includes: two U-bolts (CM-1201-UBS and CM-1202-UBS), flange nuts, carriage bolts, hex cap screws, washers, spacers (CM-SP9, CM-SP12, CM-SP13, 60648-SP), cable tie mounts, cable ties, push nuts, 1/2" fishwire, and an electrical box bracket (CM-EBB). See the parts list on pages 1–2 for complete quantities and part numbers.
No. All fasteners required for installation are included in the kit. The parts list specifies all bolts, nuts, washers, and spacers needed.
No drilling is required. The 60648 SUBKIT uses existing frame slots and mounting holes on compatible trucks. The manual explicitly states "NO DRILLING REQUIRED."
You must remove the spare tire and heat shield. The heat shield under the bed floor needs to be removed or a section cut out for the hitch assembly. If cutting, trim the heat shield from in front of the bed support over the axle to the back of the bed support near the front of the wheel well.
Brake, fuel, and electrical lines may need to be loosened or repositioned to provide clearance for new hardware. Position the U-bolt from the inside of the truck frame and make sure not to damage or pinch the wiring harness or brake lines during installation.
For 2007 and later 2500 and 3500 new body style trucks only: yes, you must remove the electrical box from the inside of the driver side frame. It will be reattached using the supplied electrical box bracket (CM-EBB) and the 3/4" bolt used to attach the sideplate, with obround spacers (60648-SP) to fill the slot in the frame.
Install in this order: (1) rear crossarm by sliding it between the frame and truck bed floor above the passenger side rear tire, then rotate vertically with holes toward the bottom; (2) front crossarm by sliding it between the frame and bed, rotating vertically with holes toward the bottom, notching the bed flange if needed; (3) center section by carefully raising it above the fuel tank from beneath the truck.
Two optional push nut bolt retainers (item 11) are included to assist with center section installation. Insert two 1/2" × 1 1/2" carriage bolts through the centermost slots on the front side of the center section, angle the serrations in the bolt retainers away from the center section, and push the retainers onto the bolts using one of the included spacers as a tool. This holds the center section in position while you install other fasteners.
Thread all fasteners finger tight only during the initial installation steps (steps 4–6). Do not fully tighten them until step 8, when you torque all fasteners in the specified sequence and to the correct torque values.
The 1/2" fishwire (item 19) aids in the placement of the carriage bolt and spacer through the hole above the driver side front hole over the fuel tank. Thread it through to help guide the bolt and spacer into position.
Align the large holes with the existing slot in the frame. Attach the sideplate flanges to the crossarms using a 1/2" × 1 1/2" hex bolt with 1/2" conical tooth washer and 5/8" × 1 3/4" carriage bolt (CM-SP9) and 5/8" flange nut, threading through the inside of the sideplate flanges into the crossarms (finger tight only). Then attach the sideplates to the frame using a U-bolt and 3/4" hex bolt, with two 1/2" flange nuts. Attach the rear section using a 3/4" hex bolt and 3/4" washer. For 2007+ 2500/3500 new body styles, reattach the electrical box using the supplied bracket.
For 3/4 ton and 1 ton applications, use the large U-bolt (CM-1202-UBS, 1/2-13 x 4 3/4 x 8 3/4 x 2 SQ). For 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton light duty trucks, use the smaller U-bolt (CM-1201-UBS, 1/2-13 x 4 1/8 x 6 3/4 x 1 1/2 SQ).
For 3/4 ton and 1 ton heavy duty trucks, use the bottom hole on the sideplate. For 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton light duty trucks, use the top hole on the sideplate. These holes are called out on Figure A.
Yes. Before installing the crossarms, run a 1/2-13 bolt or 1/2"-13 tap through the crossarm holes to remove any powder or debris. This ensures proper fastener seating.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft, all 5/8" fasteners to 210 lb-ft, and all 3/4" fasteners to 380 lb-ft. When torquing U-bolts, tighten them slowly, alternating between the top and bottom of the U-bolt until equally tightened to a maximum of 40 ft-lbs.
Torque in this order: (1) First, torque the center section to the front and rear crossarms. (2) Second, torque the sideplates to the truck frame on both sides. (3) Third, torque the sideplate flanges to the front and rear crossarms.
Yes. If desired, you may trim the sideplate U-bolts after installation completion to provide additional handle rod clearance.
The center locator must be inserted into the center section prior to installation. It helps position the center section correctly during the installation process.
Notch the bed flange as required if needed during front crossarm installation. The manual indicates this may be necessary depending on your specific truck configuration.
No. The 60648 SUBKIT is a structural subkit only. It does not include wiring, lights, or brake components. Refer to the 60619 gooseneck hitch instructions (not included) for installation completion and operating procedures, which may address electrical requirements.
Before towing, verify: (1) do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity; (2) on short bed trucks, check for adequate turning clearance between the trailer front and truck cab using the clearance calculation on page 5; (3) on two-wheel drive trucks, verify the inverted ball will not interfere with the differential top when the truck is both loaded and unloaded; (4) remove all rear window accessories before towing.
Use the formula on page 5: (Cab to ball center) − (1/2 trailer width) = minimum clearance. If the trailer has a coupler overhang, use: [(Cab to ball center) − (coupler overhang)] − (1/2 trailer width) = minimum clearance. If the result is positive, the trailer will not interfere. If negative, the trailer will interfere. The manual provides examples and a worksheet to complete your calculation.
The manual states that removal of rear window accessories may be required before towing, but does not specify which accessories. Verify with your truck manufacturer or installer which accessories on your specific truck must be removed.
Periodically check the gooseneck hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection before towing is recommended.
The manual recommends periodically checking that all fasteners are tight but does not specify a retorque interval. Inspect fasteners regularly, especially before towing, and retighten if any have loosened.
The 60648 SUBKIT is a gooseneck hitch subkit manufactured by Curt Manufacturing. It is a structural mounting kit designed for specific Chevy and GMC Silverado and Sierra trucks (1999–2007 1500/2500LD classic body, 2001–2010 2500HD/3500 classic and new body, all bed lengths). It includes crossarms, sideplates, fasteners, and spacers. Installation completion requires the 60619 gooseneck hitch (sold separately).
Pages 4 includes instructions for relocating the vacuum canister if it interferes with the hitch installation. It includes two cable tie mounts (CM-11-CTM) and two cable ties (CM-116415-CT). The canister is repositioned 5"–6" lower than its original location using the cable ties, mounted approximately 3" apart.
The 60648 SUBKIT fits 1999–2007 Chevy/GMC 1500 and 2500LD Silverado/Sierra (classic body, all beds) and 2001–2010 2500HD and 3500 (classic and new body, all beds). Verify your truck year, model, and body style against these specifications.
Torque 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft, 5/8" fasteners to 210 lb-ft, and 3/4" fasteners to 380 lb-ft. U-bolts tighten to a maximum of 40 ft-lbs, alternating between top and bottom.
On short bed models, verify adequate turning clearance between the trailer front and truck cab using the clearance calculation formula on page 5. If the result is negative, the trailer will interfere with the cab.
On two-wheel drive trucks, perform a clearance check when the truck is both loaded and unloaded to verify the inverted ball will not interfere with the top of the differential.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. Inspect before each towing use.
Use the clearance calculation formula on page 5: (Cab to ball center) − (1/2 trailer width) = minimum clearance. For trailers with coupler overhang: [(Cab to ball center) − (coupler overhang)] − (1/2 trailer width) = minimum clearance. If the result is negative, the trailer will interfere with the cab. If you get a negative result, do not tow that trailer configuration, or use a different hitch setup.
Perform a clearance check when the truck is both loaded and unloaded. If the inverted ball contacts the differential top in either condition, the hitch installation is not suitable for your truck. Consult the manufacturer or a professional installer for alternative solutions.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight. If any have loosened, retighten them to the specified torque values: 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft, 5/8" fasteners to 210 lb-ft, and 3/4" fasteners to 380 lb-ft. U-bolts should be tightened to a maximum of 40 ft-lbs, alternating between top and bottom.
