In the world of commercial towing, more is expected. A job cannot be completed if the equipment cannot handle the workload. That is why CURT developed the Commercial Duty class 5 trailer hitch. Constructed from steel and engineered for power, these class 5 hitches are designed to complement the towing power of full-size, commercial pickup trucks, including diesels and chassis cabs. They can easily handle a variety of oversize trailers, including toy and car haulers, livestock trailers, dumper trailers, large flatbed trailers, large boat trailers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). This particular class 5 hitch features a gross trailer weight capacity of 20,000 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 2,700 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD (will not fit with factory receiver; to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). All CURT Commercial Duty class 5 hitches feature a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver tube opening to accept the strongest of ball mounts and towing accessories. They are perfect for mounting standard ball mounts, pintle mounts, tow hooks and weight distribution hitches as well as winch mounts and cargo carriers. CURT class 5 tow hitches are protected by a co-curing of liquid A-coat and carbide black powder coat finish. They also mount with grade-8 hardware, included with each hitch.

Yes. Before beginning installation, unhook the spare tire safety strap and lower the spare tire to access the frame rail bolts. The spare tire is reinstalled after the hitch is secured.
The fishwire tool is a 1/2" wire that guides bolts and spacers through the vehicle frame rails. Insert the coiled end of the fishwire through the hitch mounting hole and out the access hole. Pass the coiled end through a spacer and thread a carriage bolt into the coil. Kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt, then pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt through the frame and out the mounting hole. This technique prevents loss of bolts or spacers inside the frame rail.
If the vehicle does not have forward-most bolts, use the fishwire technique to install 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" carriage bolts (#2) and 1/4" x 1" x 3" spacers (#7) into the holes. This allows the hitch to be mounted securely even when factory bolts are not present.
The conical-toothed washers (#6) should be oriented with the toothed side facing the hitch side plate, as shown in the diagram on page 2. These washers are used with the M14 hex bolts (#4) when securing the hitch to the frame.
Torque all M14 hardware to 126 ft-lbs. and all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness and prevent damage to the product or vehicle.
