Do not lay tools across the positive battery terminal (typically marked with red covers or a red '+' symbol), as this can cause a ground short resulting in sparks and/or electrical shocks. After disconnecting the negative terminal, fasten the wire down and away from the battery.
The vehicle taillight connectors are located underneath the vehicle on the frame below the bottom of the taillight opening on both the driver side and passenger side. They will be similar in appearance to the connectors on the RV harness.
Position the RV harness connector ends (yellow wires on the driver side, green wires on the passenger side) between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Slide the red lock on the factory connector and pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged.
Route the 4-flat portion of the RV harness along the passenger side towards the front of the vehicle along the frame rail, keeping it above the suspension and close to the vehicle frame. Use a fishwire to pull it through the inner fender and fender just behind the passenger-side rear wheel, where the front fender meets the inner fender. Route it under the rubber weather stripping along the passenger-side inner fender to the front of the truck and into the engine compartment.
A fishwire is a tool used to push or pull an electrical wire through a blind hole. It can be made from a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope, or string. Insert the fishwire through the blind hole and locate it on the other side. Use tape to secure the harness to the fishwire and pull back up. If the fishwire gets hung up, you may need to push back down, wiggle it around, or twist the wire to loosen it.
Secure the RV harness to the existing factory wire harness with the provided cable ties. When routing the 4-flat portion, leave the cable ties loose until the 4-flat end can be secured in the engine compartment. After removing slack from the 4-flat wire, tighten all cable ties and add additional ones as needed to secure any excess wire.

Both the ground wire and the 4-flat bracket require 3/32" holes. For the ground wire, drill a 3/32" pilot hole in a clean area of the frame (free from rust, dirt, and paint). For the bracket, use it as a template to mark two holes and drill two 3/32" holes.
The area where you will secure the ground wire must be free from rust, dirt, and paint. Use an abrasive pad or paper to remove rust and paint from the frame. You can then secure the white ground wire with the ring terminal to an existing screw or bolt, or to a new 3/32" pilot hole using the provided ground screw.
Route the 4-flat to a flat surface in the engine compartment and locate a suitable position to mount the 4-flat bracket. Using the bracket as a template, mark the two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two provided screws. Secure the 4-flat to the frame rail with a cable tie.
You may need to loosen the inner fender to locate the fishwire when routing the 4-flat connector through the area where the front fender meets the inner fender. This is done to help guide the harness through the vehicle body.
Secure any excess wire so that it is not drooping or dangling, but not so tight that it causes unnecessary strain to the wire. Use a cable tie to fasten any excess wire to a solid spot along the driver-side inner fender. Tighten all cable ties after removing slack from the 4-flat wire and add additional ties as needed.
Reinstall all items removed during installation. If the negative battery terminal was disconnected at the beginning, reconnect it. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Test the harness for proper function using a test light or by connecting a properly wired trailer.
