The 58922 is designed for RV towing. For trailer towing, the harness includes a connection point labeled "FOR TRAILER TOW USE ONLY: CONVERTER 58920 REQUIRED." You can leave the 58922 harness on the vehicle permanently and plug in the separate 4-Flat Harness Part Number 58920 when you need to tow a trailer.
Yes. You must open the rear tailgate, remove the plastic caps covering the taillight screws, remove the two 7mm screws holding each taillight assembly, and gently pull the taillights away from the vehicle to access the factory wiring harness connectors. The taillights are reinstalled at the end of the installation.
Required tools include: a flat screwdriver (to remove plastic taillight caps), a 7mm socket (to remove taillight screws), a drill with a 3/32" bit (to drill two mounting holes), a fish tape (to route harness through bumper and wheel wells), and a Torx T15 screwdriver (to remove rear wheel well cover screws). A marker or pencil is needed to mark drill holes.
Yes. You must drill two 3/32" holes: one near the rear of the vehicle on clean metal to mount the ground screw (Step 4), and two more at the front frame rail to mount the 4-Flat bracket (Step 14). Before drilling, remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal. Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface.

The 4-Flat Harness uses the following color code: White = Ground, Brown = Tail Lights, Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal, Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal. The Yellow wires are routed to the driver's side taillight, and the Green wires to the passenger side taillight.
Route the RV harness with Yellow wire connectors up behind the bumper fascia and between the separated vehicle harness connectors (driver's side first). Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock, then pull on them to ensure the locks are engaged. Repeat the same process on the passenger side with the Green wire connectors, routing them through the frame rail using a fish tape.
Remove the Torx T15 screw on the driver's rear wheel well cover. Use a fish tape to route from the left side of the rear wheel well over to the right side, secure the 4-Flat connector to the fish tape, and pull it through. Route the connector forward along brake line brackets, securing it with cable ties. Secure the harness to the vehicle frame with two adhesive cable tie pads before routing to the front wheel well. Repeat the process to route the 4-Flat through the driver's front wheel well, removing additional Torx T15 screws if necessary.
Mount the 4-Flat bracket on the front frame rail that goes across the front of the vehicle. Use the bracket as a template to mark two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws from the kit.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends, within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal and drill a 3/32" hole. Attach the ring terminal on the white wire using one of the #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws provided.
Avoid routing the harness near moving parts, fuel lines, or areas where wires could be cut, pinched, or burned. Do not drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surface. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life. When routing through wheel wells and frame areas, use a fish tape and secure the harness with cable ties to keep it away from hazards.
With the 4-Flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on your Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, or GMC Acadia. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp. Verify that tail lights, left turn/brake signal (Yellow), and right turn/brake signal (Green) operate correctly.
Store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
Yes. After separating the factory wiring harness connectors from the taillights, inspect them for dirt and debris and clean if necessary before connecting the RV harness connectors.
Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged. The connectors should not move when pulled.
