Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Ford F-150. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring Harness, Select Ford F-150 Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58912) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, the Curt 58912 is designed to fit the Ford F-150. The harness connects to your vehicle's factory wiring harness connectors at the taillights and routes a 4-flat connector to the front of the vehicle for connection to an RV or motorhome.
The kit includes: (1) wiring harness with 4-flat connector, (1) 48" 4-flat extension, (20) 15" cable ties, (1) 4-flat bracket, and (3) #8 self-tapping ground screws.
Yes. You must open the tailgate and use an 8mm socket to remove the bolts holding the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides. Gently pull the taillights away from the vehicle, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs. You will reinstall them after completing the harness installation.
You will need an 8mm socket (to remove taillight bolts), a drill with a 3/32" drill bit, and a fish tape to route the harness through the wheel well opening into the engine compartment. A marker or tape is helpful to identify the top wire harness portion during reinstallation.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill one 3/32" hole near the RV harness ends to mount the ground screw (Step 6), and two additional 3/32" holes at the front of the vehicle to mount the 4-flat bracket (Step 15). All holes must be drilled in clean metal surfaces with no drilling through the vehicle body or exposed surfaces.
Locate the vehicle's factory wiring harness connectors at the taillights (shown in Figure 2). Separate the connectors from both sides. Position the RV harness connector ends containing yellow wires between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Insert the longer portion into the top set of taillight connectors and the remaining portion into the bottom set. Press connectors firmly until they lock, then pull to confirm the locks are engaged.
Route the 4-flat connector along the side of the spare tire towards the front of the vehicle, following the factory wire harness along the frame rail (Step 10). Secure it with cable ties. Continue routing towards the front along the factory wire harness (Step 11). Inside the engine compartment, use a fish tape to pull the connector through the opening behind the driver's side wheel well area (Step 12). Route the 4-flat to the front of the engine compartment (Step 13), then down behind the shield near the radiator to the mounting location on the frame at the front of the vehicle (Step 14).
Avoid routing the harness near moving parts, fuel lines, or areas where wires could be cut, pinched, or burned. Do not drill through the vehicle body or exposed surfaces. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
White = Ground; Brown = Tail Lights; Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal; Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
Locate a clean and accessible mounting location on the vehicle near the RV harness ends, within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal. Drill a 3/32" hole and attach the ring terminal on the white wire using one of the #8 self-tapping ground screws provided.
Locate a suitable position to mount the 4-flat bracket at the front of the vehicle on the frame. Use the bracket as a template to mark two holes, then drill two 3/32" holes. Attach the bracket using the two remaining #8 self-tapping screws provided. Do not drill through the vehicle body or exposed surfaces.
With the 4-flat extension plugged into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other, test that the functions work on the Ford F-150. Note that these functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp.
Store the 4-flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
Use the cable ties provided to secure the harness at multiple points: route the 2-pin connector containing brown and green wires along the rear of the vehicle to the passenger side along the factory wire harness and secure with cable ties (Step 8). Secure any loose wires with cable ties along the routing path (Step 9). At the rear of the vehicle, secure any remaining loose wires using cable ties (Step 17).
Yes, the Curt 58912 RV TOW Harness is designed specifically for the Ford F-150.
Do not drill through the vehicle body or exposed surfaces. Avoid routing the harness near moving parts, fuel lines, or areas where wires could be cut, pinched, or burned. Improper routing may cause property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.
White = Ground; Brown = Tail Lights; Green = Right Turn and Brake Signal; Yellow = Left Turn and Brake Signal.
