Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Ford F-250 and F-350. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The manual indicates this is a trailer wiring harness for trucks with wiring locations at T1 (behind driver side taillight), T2 (behind passenger side taillight), T3 (behind driver side rear bumper), T4 (behind center of rear bumper fascia), and T5 (behind passenger side rear bumper). However, the manual does not list specific vehicle makes, models, or years. Contact Curt Manufacturing or consult a fitment database to confirm compatibility with your truck.
The installation is rated as Easy. Installation difficulty levels are based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on the installer's level of expertise, condition of the vehicle, and proper tools and equipment.
You will need: panel removal tool, fish wire, ratchet, 3/32" drill bit, 10mm socket, cutting tool, and electrical tape.
Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. Fasten this wire down and away from the battery while completing the installation process. Note that diesel trucks typically have batteries on both sides of the engine compartment, while gas trucks typically have the battery on the passenger side.
Yes. You must open the tailgate to access and remove the taillight screws as part of the installation process.
You need to remove four taillight screws from each taillight (eight total) using a 10mm socket. There are two taillights—one on the driver side and one on the passenger side.
Fish wire is a tool used to push or pull an electrical wire through a blind hole. For this installation, fish wire can be anything from a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope, or string. Make sure it is long enough to stick out on the other side of the hole. Insert the fish wire through the blind hole, locate it on the other side, use tape to secure the harness to the fish wire, and pull back up. If the fish wire or harness gets hung up, you may need to push back down, wiggle it around, or twist the wire to loosen it.
Starting on the driver side, remove the black housing top and bottom of the taillight, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.
Using a fish wire, route the yellow wire side of the harness up from below the vehicle into the taillight cavity on the driver side. Install one housing into the mating connector on the taillight and the other housing to the factory vehicle harness.
Route the harness end with the green wire under the vehicle box along the top side of the bumper to the passenger side, then repeat the taillight housing installation process on the passenger side.
Route the 4-flat wire along the frame on the passenger side above the drive line and out of the rear suspension to the rear of the passenger side of the front tire. Loosely zip tie as needed but leave room for adjustments until fully installed.
Using a fish wire, route the 4-flat wire down along the inner fender and outer fender. From under the vehicle, pull back the inside of the wheel well lining and locate the fish wire. Feed the 4-flat wire up into the engine compartment using the fish wire.
Route the 4-flat wire along the passenger-side inner fender to the front of the truck.
Pull all excess wire so that it is not drooping or dangling but not too tight, as excessive tension can cause unnecessary strain to the wire and could cause breakage over time. After removing slack from the 4-flat wire, tighten any zip ties and add as needed. Use zip ties to fasten any excess wire to a solid spot along the firewall.
The manual does not specify a weight or towing capacity rating. It only states: do not exceed the product rating or tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Contact Curt Manufacturing for the specific product rating.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer.
Panel removal tool, fish wire, ratchet, 3/32" drill bit, 10mm socket, cutting tool, and electrical tape.
Yes, disconnect the negative battery terminal and fasten it down and away from the battery before starting installation.
The manual rates installation difficulty as Easy but does not specify an installation time. Time may vary depending on installer expertise, vehicle condition, and proper tools.
