The CURT 45933 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 15,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 1,500 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The mount's ratings represent only the product's capability, not your vehicle's towing system. Always verify the lowest-rated component in your entire towing setup and stay within that limit.
No special tools are required for assembly and setup. However, before towing, you must use a torque wrench and 3/8" hex drive socket to torque all fasteners to 45–55 lb-ft. A hitch pin and clip (sold separately) are also needed to secure the adjustable shank into your vehicle's receiver tube.
The kit includes one adjustable shank, one dual ball, two pins, and one clip. The adjustable shank is sold separately, so you will need to purchase it if not already included. You must also purchase a hitch pin and clip separately to secure the shank into your receiver tube.
Yes. The hitch pin and clip required to secure the adjustable shank into your trailer hitch receiver are sold separately and are not included in the kit. You will need to purchase these items before installation.
Level your trailer and measure from the bottom of the trailer tongue to the ground. Find the hole on the adjustable shank that is closest to that measurement. The trailer ball platform will be centered on that hole. This ensures proper tongue height and level towing.
1. Slide the tongue onto the shank and align it with the proper hole locations based on your measured ball height. 2. Angle the tongue slightly upwards and press it toward the shank. 3. Insert the first pin into the top tongue hole. 4. Apply downward force to the tongue and slide the second pin into the bottom hole. 5. Secure both pins with the included clip. Note: If using the highest mounting position, install the bottom pin first with the tongue angled downward, then apply upward force to install the second pin.
All fasteners must be torqued to 45–55 lb-ft using a torque wrench and 3/8" hex drive socket. This must be done prior to towing to ensure all fasteners are tight and secure.
No. Never hook trailer safety chains to the mount system. Safety chains must operate freely around the mount system and must not become entangled with it. Failure to follow this instruction could compromise safety.
Before towing, ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. Use a torque wrench and 3/8" hex drive socket to torque all hardware to 45–55 lb-ft. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, and verify that all components of your towing system are within their rated limits.
Use only mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or similar products, as these may damage the finish.
If replacement pins are needed, they must be replaced with original factory mount pins only (CURT# 45931). The provided pins are specifically engineered for this system, and using non-original pins may compromise safety and performance.
