They mount over the opening of the receiver tube and are held secure using a set of independent screws, meaning there is no drilling or clamping required. The CURT 58001 is an electrical bracket designed to mount a 4- or 5-way plug to a receiver tube hitch. It secures the plug connector to your hitch receiver, allowing you to connect trailer lighting and electrical systems.
The manual does not specify which vehicles or receiver tube sizes the 58001 is compatible with. Contact CURT Manufacturing at 877-287-8634 or check the product listing on curtmfg.com for fitment information specific to your vehicle.
You will need a wrench set and a socket set. These are required to tighten the M5 fasteners that secure the bracket to the receiver tube collar.
The kit includes: 4 Nylock nuts (M5 - 0.8), 2 carriage bolts (M5 - 0.8 x 20mm), 2 carriage bolts (M5 - 0.8 x 90mm), 1 mounting bracket, and 2 spacers. All fasteners are provided; no additional hardware is required.
Yes. Before installation, check for adequate clearance for the bracket, plug(s) and wiring. This ensures the bracket and connector will fit without interference. The manual recommends forming the lower bracket flange by pushing it against the ground to create a snug fit around the receiver tube before final installation.
1. Attach the 4- or 5-way plug to the mounting bracket using the provided hardware, tightening evenly until snug. 2. Slide the electrical bracket over the receiver tube collar. 3. Use supplied spacers as needed if there is a gap between the collar and bracket. 4. Secure the bracket to the receiver tube collar using the provided hardware. Do not overtighten, as this can bow the bracket front or break the hardware.
Use the supplied spacers (#5) as needed if there is a larger gap between the receiver tube collar and the electrical bracket. This helps ensure a snug fit and proper alignment during installation.
Yes. If there is not adequate space to insert a bolt from above, you may insert the bolt from below instead. This provides flexibility when working in tight spaces around the receiver tube.
Do not overtighten the hardware. Overtightening can cause the front of the bracket to bow or the hardware to break. Tighten the hardware evenly until snug, then stop.
Use mild automotive detergent and water to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products, as these may damage the finish.
