The CURT Rebellion XD adjustable cushion hitch ball mount upgrades your towing system with a smoother ride, greater control and enhanced longevity, all while providing exceptional towing power with virtually no need for maintenance. It is unlike any other ball mount because it operates using ShockDrop technology. At the core of this heavy-duty ball hitch is a cushion isolator that resists jerking, jarring, bumps, vibrations, chucking and rattling noise at the coupling point. Unlike a cushion hitch or torsion hitch that uses airbags or bearings, ShockDrop offers extended resistance to wear without the need for maintenance. The result is a more comfortable drive, increased driver control and better management of the vehicle-trailer combination in events of sudden braking. The adaptive, suspension mechanism and lightweight design of this cushion hitch help minimize stress on your vehicle and its suspension and braking systems. The Rebellion XD shock-absorbing hitch is also an adjustable trailer hitch ball mount, featuring a highly versatile vertical shank that promotes level towing, even with large, lifted trucks. The vertical shank has 8 height adjustment positions with a maximum drop of 8 inches and rise of 1 inch (shank cannot be flipped to rise position). For dependable towing strength, the Rebellion XD cushion hitch ball mount is tested and rated for 10,000 pounds for the 2-inch ball and 20,000 pounds for the 2-5/16-inch ball (limited to lowest-rated towing component). It has a standard 2-1/2-inch x 2-1/2-inch shank. For long-lasting weather resistance, the Rebellion XD is protected with a textured, dark grey teridium finish to withstand rain, dirt, UV damage and other corrosive threats.

The Rebellion™ XD is a dual ball trailer hitch mount (part number 45955) that attaches to your vehicle's hitch receiver. It features an adjustable shank with multiple height positions and a dual ball accessory to accommodate different trailer couplers. The product has a built-in anti-rattle feature to keep your towing system quiet.
The Rebellion™ XD has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 20,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 2,000 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, as the ratings of the mount system do not reflect the ratings of your vehicle's towing system.
No drilling, cutting, welding or permanent modifications are required. The Rebellion™ XD installs directly into your vehicle's existing trailer hitch receiver tube using a hitch pin and clip (sold separately). The installation difficulty level is rated as Easy.
No tools are required for basic assembly and installation. However, before towing, you must use a torque wrench and 3/8" hex drive socket to torque all hardware to 45-55 lb-ft.
The kit includes: one adjustable shank, one dual ball accessory, two pins, and one clip. You must purchase separately: a hitch pin and clip to secure the shank to your vehicle's receiver tube. Replacement pins must be CURT factory pins (part number 45959).
Level your trailer and measure from the bottom of the trailer tongue to the ground. Find the hole on the adjustable shank (#1) that is closest to that measurement. The trailer ball platform will be centered on that hole. This ensures proper alignment between your trailer coupler and the ball mount.
1. Insert the adjustable shank into your vehicle's trailer hitch receiver and secure it with a hitch pin and clip (sold separately). 2. Determine the proper ball height by measuring your trailer tongue height. 3. Slide the dual ball mount onto the shank, aligning it with the correct height holes. 4. Insert the top pin first, then apply downward force and insert the bottom pin. 5. Secure both pins with the included clip. For the highest mounting position, install the bottom pin first with the mount angled downward, then apply upward force to install the top pin.
Slide the dual ball mount onto the shank and align it with the proper hole locations for your chosen ball height. Angle the dual ball slightly upwards and press it toward the shank. Insert a pin into the top tongue hole first. Then apply downward force to the mount and slide the second pin into the bottom hole. Secure both pins with the included clip, which can be installed in either up or down orientation. For the highest mounting position, reverse this sequence: install the bottom pin first with the mount angled downward, then apply upward force to install the top pin.
Using a torque wrench and 3/8" hex drive socket, torque all hardware to 45-55 lb-ft. This must be done prior to towing to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound.
No. The Rebellion™ XD cannot be used in the rise position. It can only be used in the drop position or at level height, depending on your trailer coupler height.
Check for proper clearance of the trailer coupler to the tongue of the Rebellion™ XD when latched on the ball. Some couplers may require a 1" rise ball to add clearance for maneuvering. If clearance is insufficient, you may need to use a rise ball accessory.
No. Never hook up trailer safety chains to the mount system. Ensure the safety chains operate freely around the mount system and do not become entangled. Safety chains must be attached to your vehicle frame or other appropriate anchor points.
You must use only the pins provided with the CURT 45955 or original factory replacement pins (CURT part number 45959). Using any other pin is a serious safety hazard and will void the warranty. The provided pins are specifically engineered for this system.
Apply grease to the zerk located on the back of the shank assembly prior to each use to ensure quiet and trouble-free operation. Clean the product with mild automotive detergent only. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish.
Before towing, ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. Using a torque wrench and 3/8" hex drive socket, torque all hardware to 45-55 lb-ft. Also verify that the trailer coupler has proper clearance to the ball when latched, and that safety chains are not attached to the mount system.
The Rebellion™ XD installs into any vehicle with a standard trailer hitch receiver tube. Consult your vehicle's owner manual or the CURT website to confirm your vehicle has a compatible receiver.
Yes. The hitch pin and clip that secure the shank to your vehicle's receiver are sold separately and must be purchased. You will also need a torque wrench and 3/8" hex drive socket to torque hardware before towing.
