Yes. This hitch is designed for 2004 Acura MDX. The installation procedure for the 2004 model differs slightly from 2001–2003 models because the 2004 requires removal of the fascia under covering in addition to lowering the exhaust.
No. This hitch fits only with a mini spare tire stowed under the vehicle. It will not fit with a full-size spare tire.
The hitch has two towing capacities depending on the type used: Weight Distributing hitch supports a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lb (2,270 kg) with a maximum tongue weight of 500 lb (227 kg); Weight Carrying Ball Mount supports a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lb (1,589 kg) with a maximum tongue weight of 350 lb (159 kg). Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
Transmission cooler and power steering cooler are required for maximum towing capacity. Consult your vehicle owner's manual for details on whether these are already installed or need to be added.
You will need wrenches in the following sizes: 10mm, 14mm, 17mm, and 19mm. No drill bits are required; drilling is not part of the installation process.
The fastener kit (part number 75599F) includes 6 hex bolts M12 × 1.25 × 35mm CL8.8 and 6 conical washers (½"). These fasteners attach the hitch to the existing weldnuts on both sides of the frame rail.
Yes. The first step for both 2001–2003 and 2004 models is to remove the tow hook from the driver's side of the vehicle. Return the hook and its fasteners to the vehicle owner.
No. Fascia removal is required only for the 2004 Acura MDX. For 2001–2003 models, you lower the exhaust by removing the muffler hangers but do not remove the fascia.
You need to remove three rubber muffler hangers to lower the exhaust for 2001–2003 models.
You need to remove four rubber muffler hangers to lower the exhaust for the 2004 Acura MDX.
For 2001–2003 models: (1) Remove tow hook and return to owner; (2) Lower exhaust by removing three muffler hangers; (3) Raise hitch into position and install fasteners; (4) Reinstall muffler hangers; (5) If exhaust rattle occurs, trim rearward exhaust heat shield. For 2004 Acura MDX: (1) Remove tow hook and return to owner; (2) Remove fascia under covering and return to owner; (3) Lower exhaust by removing four muffler hangers; (4) Raise hitch into position and install fasteners; (5) Reinstall muffler hangers.
Tighten all M12 × 1.25 CL8.8 fasteners with a torque wrench to 68 Lb.-Ft.
If exhaust rattle occurs, trim the rearward exhaust heat shield between the crosstube and muffler. This step applies to 2001–2003 models; it is not mentioned for the 2004 Acura MDX.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair it.

Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
