Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.

Yes, the Draw-tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2" Square Receiver, Black for Select Dodge Journey 75648 (Part #DT75648) is designed to fit the 2009-2020 Dodge Journey.
The Draw-tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2" Square Receiver, Black for Select Dodge Journey 75648 (Part #DT75648) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes. Part number 75648 is designed for the Dodge Journey. The hitch assembly includes part numbers 75648, 87487, and 44601, with fastener kit 75648F.
Yes. The installation instructions include separate procedures for single and dual exhaust configurations. For single exhaust, raise the hitch on the passenger side over the exhaust pipe and slowly rotate it into position. For dual exhaust, slide the hitch above the tailpipes.
The maximum gross trailer weight is 4000 lb (1816 kg) and the maximum tongue weight is 400 lb (182 kg). However, do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or the hitch type rating. This applies to both weight distributing and weight carrying ball mount configurations.
You will need a 3/4" wrench, a torque wrench, lubricant or soapy water, and tape. The torque wrench is essential for tightening fasteners to the correct specifications: 75 lb-ft for carriage bolts and 50 lb-ft for handle nuts.
The hitch includes: (2) carriage bolts 1/2-13 X 2.25 GR5, (2) hex nuts 1/2-13, (2) spacers, (4) bevel spacers, (4) conical washers, (2) hex bolts 1/2-13 X 1.50 GR5, (2) handle nuts, and (2) pull wires. A separate fastener kit 75648F is available if additional fasteners are needed.
Yes. The first step is to lower the muffler and tailpipe by removing all rubber isolators located behind the rear axle. There will be 2 or 3 isolators depending on the vehicle. Be careful not to allow the mufflers to fall under their own weight. Spraying lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rod and rubber isolator helps with removal. The exhaust is then raised back into position and reattached to the rubber isolators after the hitch is secured.
Use the pull wires provided with the hitch. Feed the spacers and carriage bolts into the impact bar using these pull wires on both rails. Leave the pull wire attached during this process. This helps guide the fasteners into position before raising the hitch.
Yes. Tape the spacers in place to the hitch before raising the hitch into position. Orient the spacers as shown in Figure 2. This prevents them from shifting during the installation process.
Raise the hitch carefully, taking care not to push the carriage bolts back into the impact bar. For single exhaust systems, raise the hitch on the passenger side over the exhaust pipe and slowly rotate it into position. For dual exhaust systems, slide the hitch above the tailpipes. Once in position, secure it with conical washers and nuts.
Bend the handle nuts and insert them through the access holes in the frame. Then install two (2) 1/2"-13 bolts and conical washers as shown in the diagram. Hold the handle nuts in place to prevent them from rotating while tightening. Bend the end out of the way after installation.
Tighten all 1/2-13 carriage bolts to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m) using a torque wrench.
Tighten all 1/2-13 handle nuts to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) using a torque wrench. Hold the handle nuts in place to prevent them from rotating during tightening.
If additional exhaust clearance is required, bend the exhaust hanger bracket downward. This bracket is welded to the vehicle frame. Do not cut the bracket with a torch.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. If the hitch is removed at any time, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball that has been damaged should be removed and replaced immediately.
Wear eye protection at all times. Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle. Do not allow mufflers to fall under their own weight. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. Be careful not to push carriage bolts back into the impact bar during installation.
The 75648 hitch complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
Yes, the 75648 is designed for the Dodge Journey and works with both single and dual exhaust systems. Installation procedures differ slightly for each configuration.
You need a 3/4" wrench, a torque wrench, lubricant or soapy water, and tape. A torque wrench is essential for tightening fasteners to 75 lb-ft (carriage bolts) and 50 lb-ft (handle nuts).
Yes. Remove the rubber isolators behind the rear axle to lower the muffler and tailpipe. There are 2 or 3 isolators depending on the vehicle. Reattach after the hitch is secured.
Tighten 1/2-13 carriage bolts to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m) and 1/2-13 handle nuts to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m) using a torque wrench.
Wear eye protection. Work safely beneath the vehicle. Do not allow mufflers to fall. Do not use a torch to cut holes. Do not push carriage bolts back into the impact bar.
The manual warns against pushing carriage bolts back into the impact bar during the raising process. If this occurs, you must carefully extract the bolts using the pull wires and reposition them before continuing. Ensure the bolts are properly seated in the impact bar before raising the hitch.
The manual emphasizes being careful not to allow mufflers to fall under their own weight. If a muffler or tailpipe falls, inspect it for damage before reattaching. A damaged muffler or tailpipe should be replaced. Ensure all rubber isolators are properly removed before attempting to lower the exhaust system.
If the exhaust system does not have adequate clearance, bend the exhaust hanger bracket downward. This bracket is welded to the vehicle frame. Do not cut the bracket with a torch. If bending does not provide sufficient clearance, the hitch or exhaust system may require professional adjustment.
A hitch or ball that has been damaged must be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged hitch or ball, as this could compromise towing safety and structural integrity.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
