Yes. If your vehicle is equipped with reverse sensors, you must use cable ties to secure the wiring harness to the hitch cross tube during Step 6 of installation. One cable tie is included in the fastener kit.
The conical washer must be installed with the teeth side facing against the hitch. This is shown in Figure 1 on page 3.
Three fastener assemblies are required per side, for a total of six fastener assemblies. Each assembly consists of a pull wire, conical tooth washer, hex nut, block, and carriage bolt.
The pull wire is used to guide the carriage bolt through the block and frame rail to the attachment holes. The pull wire is attached to the carriage bolt, fed through the block, then through the frame rail, and pulled out through the attachment holes. The pull wire should be kinked to keep the spacer (block) independent of the bolt.
Step 1 requires: (a) drilling out three rivets inside the wheel well on each side and four rivets inside the trunk opening using a 5/32" drill bit; (b) removing one screw from the top of the wheel well on each side using a 7mm socket; (c) removing four push pins underneath the trunk opening at the top of the fascia using a flat blade screwdriver; (d) removing the fascia. A 5/32" Allen bit may help remove the rubber trunk stopper to access rivets near the brake lights.
Use exhaust removal pliers to detach the two exhaust hangers on each side of the vehicle. Before lowering, ensure the exhaust system is supported to prevent it from falling. Spray lubricant may help remove stubborn exhaust hangers.
When removing the bumper beam in Step 3, remove all wiring from the bumper beam and return the bumper beam to the customer. The wiring must be disconnected before the bumper beam is removed.
The fascia must be trimmed 3.5" according to Figure 2. This trimming is shown in Step 7 and illustrated on page 3.

Step 8 requires: raise the exhaust back into place and replace the fascia by reversing the process in Step 1. This means reinstalling the push pins, screws, and rivets in the reverse order they were removed.
Kinking the pull wire means bending it to keep the spacer (block) independent of the bolt. This is shown in Figure 2 on page 3 and prevents the spacer from moving along the bolt during installation.
When inserting the hitch into the frame rails in Step 4, make sure the blocks are aligned properly and do not overlap. The blocks should be positioned correctly before tightening the fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft.
A 5/32" drill bit is required to drill out the rivets. You must remove three rivets inside the wheel well on each side and four rivets inside the trunk opening.
You need three socket sizes: 7mm (to remove wheel well screws), 13mm (to remove bumper beam nuts), and 3/4" (for other fasteners). A 6" socket extension is also required.

Exhaust hangers can be stuck due to corrosion or age. The manual recommends using spray lubricant to help remove stubborn exhaust hangers. Allow the lubricant to penetrate before attempting removal with exhaust removal pliers.
A 5/32" Allen bit may be useful to remove the rubber trunk stopper to allow access to the rivets located near the brake lights. This will provide better access to drill out those rivets.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity.
