Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.

The 76098 is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 4500 lb. (2043 kg) and maximum tongue weight of 675 lb. (306 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating or these specifications.

Yes. You must remove three bolts and the factory tow loop from the passenger side frame rail before installing the hitch. Return the bolts and tow loop to the vehicle owner.
Tighten all 1/2" GR5 hitch fasteners to 75 Lb.-ft. (102 N·M). Tighten all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 38 Lb.-Ft. (52 N·M). Use a torque wrench for proper installation.
If excessive sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up.
No. The hitch uses existing holes in the frame rails. The carriage bolts and blocks insert into existing holes in the side of the frame rails, and M10 bolts install into existing weld nuts in the bottom of the frame rails.
Yes. The 76098 is designed for 2011-current Mitsubishi Outlander, Sport, and RVR models. For the most current information on specific trim levels and model years, visit the Cequent website.
No. The 76098 is a weight-carrying hitch only. Weight-distributing applications are listed as N/A for this product. Use only for weight-carrying trailers.
The manual does not specify that the battery must be disconnected. However, always observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection.
First, tighten the 1/2-13 GR5 carriage bolts to specification. Then, tighten the M10 CL8.8 bolts to specification. Tighten all 1/2" GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-ft. (102 N·M) and all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 38 Lb.-Ft. (52 N·M) using a torque wrench.
On the driver side, raise the hitch first, guiding the flange on the side bracket around the carbon canister. The carriage bolts are installed by reaching between the bumper fascia and over the top of the carbon canister. Then raise the passenger side into position.
The conical washers must be installed with the teeth side facing toward the hitch. This applies to both the 1/2" conical washers on the carriage bolts and the 7/16" conical washers on the M10 bolts.
The fastener kit 76098F includes: (4) carriage bolts 1/2-13 x 4.00 Gr5, (2) blocks .25 x 1.50 x 4.00 with 2 square holes, (4) 1/2" conical washers, (4) hex nuts 1/2-13, (2) bolts M10 x 1.25 x 30mm Cl8.8, and (2) conical washers 7/16".
Install all fasteners loosely first. In step 1, adjust carriage bolts to be flush with the inside of frame rails. In step 2, loosely install the 1/2" conical washers and hex nuts. In step 3, loosely install the M10 hex bolts with 7/16" conical washers. Only in step 5 do you apply final torque with a torque wrench.
The maximum tongue weight is 675 lb. (306 kg). Do not exceed this limit or the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating.
Load the trailer heavier in front. This helps maintain proper weight distribution and stability while towing.
Check all fasteners and the hitch ball periodically to ensure they are properly tightened. The manual emphasizes that proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Return the factory tow loop and its three bolts to the vehicle owner. Do not discard them.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not continue using a damaged hitch.
No. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. The 76098 uses existing holes in the frame rails and does not require cutting.
The average installation time is 20 minutes for professional installers. If you do not feel comfortable performing this installation on your own or are in need of assistance, contact a professional installer.
Yes. The 76098 complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. Always wear your seatbelt while towing.
Check that all fasteners are tight. Verify that the 1/2" GR5 carriage bolts are torqued to 75 Lb.-ft. (102 N·M) and the M10 CL8.8 bolts are torqued to 38 Lb.-Ft. (52 N·M) using a torque wrench. Ensure the hitch ball is also properly tightened. Periodically check all fasteners to maintain secure mounting.
Before raising the hitch into position, adjust the carriage bolts to be flush with the inside of the frame rails. This ensures they will align properly with the hitch holes when the hitch is raised into position.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
