Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.

No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing frame attachment holes. However, the heat shield must be trimmed using tin snips on both sides as shown in Figure 2.
All 7/16-14 GR5 hardware must be tightened to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·m) using a torque wrench. This applies to all six fasteners (items 5, 6, and 7).
Do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's towing rating or: Weight Carrying capacity is 4000 lb. (1816 kg) gross trailer weight with 400 lb. (181 kg) tongue weight; Weight Distributing capacity is 4500 lb. (2043 kg) gross trailer weight with 450 lb. (204 kg) tongue weight.
Yes. The muffler must be lowered by removing the two rearmost rubber isolators (one driver side, one passenger side) before installation. It is reinstalled in Step 5 after the hitch is positioned.
The fastener kit 76116F includes: 2 carriage bolts 7/16-14 x 2 inch Gr5, 4 carriage bolts 7/16-14 x 1.5 inch Gr5, 2 blocks 1/8 x 7/8 x 2 inch, 4 blocks 1/4 x 1 x 3 inch, 2 blocks 1/2 x 1.25 x 2.5 inch, 6 nuts 7/16-14 Gr2, 6 conical tooth washers 7/16 inch, and 6 fish wires 7/16 inch.

The estimated installation time is 30 minutes for professional installers. If you do not feel comfortable performing the installation yourself or need assistance, contact a professional installer.
The fastener kit part number is 76116F. It includes all hardware needed for installation: carriage bolts, blocks, nuts, conical tooth washers, and fish wires.
Only if your vehicle has bolt-on exhaust tips. If present, remove them using a T-30 Torx socket (2 bolts per side). Push the exhaust tip forward and then remove it to the rear. If your vehicle does not have bolt-on tips, this step is not necessary.
The fish wire is used to guide the hardware (items 1-4) through the frame attachment holes before the hitch is raised into position. The fish wire remains attached to the hardware and is then fed through the hitch attachment holes to help position the hitch correctly. Six fish wires (7/16 inch) are included in the fastener kit.
Items 5 through 7 are installed loosely first to hold the hitch in place. After the muffler is reinstalled, all 7/16-14 GR5 hardware is tightened to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·m) using a torque wrench. The manual indicates installing the bottom fasteners first, then the top fasteners.
Yes. The heat shield must be trimmed using tin snips on both sides as shown in Figure 2 (3 inches on one side, 7 inches on the other). This is a permanent modification required for proper hitch clearance and installation.
Yes. For additional clearance, you may use pliers to bend the heat shield brackets up and toward the rear of the vehicle during installation. This is an optional modification to ease hitch positioning.
Removing the exhaust hanger helps with heat shield trimming. However, you must reinstall the exhaust hanger before raising the hitch into place. The manual emphasizes ensuring the exhaust hanger is reinstalled before proceeding to Step 4.
If foam tape is covering the attachment holes, remove it before installing the hardware. This allows the fish wire and fasteners to access the frame attachment points.
Be careful that the exhaust is supported before removing the rubber isolators. You may need to use a jack or support stand to hold the exhaust in place while removing the isolators. Spray lubricant on the rubber hangers to make them slide off the metal pins more easily.
The long carriage bolt (7/16-14 x 2 inch Gr5, item j) goes in the forward attachment hole. The shorter carriage bolts (7/16-14 x 1.5 inch Gr5, item k) are used for the other attachment points.
Yes. Leaving the bolt inside the frame for the rearmost (inside of the frame rail) attachment will help when raising the hitch into place. This prevents the hardware from being pushed back into the frame as you position the hitch.
Gently raise the hitch into position while feeding the fish wire through item 5 and the attachment holes of the hitch. Be careful not to push the hardware back into the frame. Loosely install items 5 through 7 to hold the hitch in place before final tightening.
Two types of carriage bolts are used: (2) 7/16-14 x 2 inch Grade 5 bolts for the forward attachment holes, and (4) 7/16-14 x 1.5 inch Grade 5 bolts for the other attachment points. All are tightened to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·m).
Three types of blocks are included: (2) blocks 1/8 x 7/8 x 2 inch (item l), (4) blocks 1/4 x 1 x 3 inch (item m), and (2) blocks 1/2 x 1.25 x 2.5 inch (item n). These provide spacing and alignment for the hitch attachment.
Six conical tooth washers 7/16 inch are included. The teeth side must be oriented against the hitch to ensure proper fastening and prevent loosening during towing.
Six nuts 7/16-14 Grade 2 are included in the fastener kit. These are tightened to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·m) with a torque wrench.
If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit.
Load the trailer heavier in front. This helps with stability and proper weight distribution on the hitch.
Check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not continue towing with damaged equipment.
The 76116 hitch complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
Contact Cequent technical support at 800-632-3290 or email TechnicalSupport@cequentgroup.com. You can also visit www.cequentgroup.com for additional information and safe towing tips.
The maximum tongue weight depends on the hitch type: Weight Carrying capacity is 400 lb. (181 kg); Weight Distributing capacity is 450 lb. (204 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
Fasteners may loosen if they were not tightened to the correct torque specification. All 7/16-14 GR5 hardware must be tightened to exactly 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N·m) using a calibrated torque wrench. Use a torque wrench to retighten all fasteners to specification. Check fasteners periodically, as they may require retightening after initial use.
The hitch may be difficult to raise if the hardware has been pushed back into the frame. Ensure the fish wire remains attached to the hardware and is fed through the hitch attachment holes carefully to prevent this. If the heat shield brackets are interfering, use pliers to bend them up and toward the rear of the vehicle for additional clearance. Ensure the exhaust hanger has been reinstalled before attempting to raise the hitch.
Heat shield trimming may be difficult if the exhaust hanger has not been removed. Removing the exhaust hanger helps with heat shield trim access. Ensure the exhaust is properly supported before removing the hanger. After trimming, the exhaust hanger must be reinstalled before raising the hitch into place. Use tin snips to cut the heat shield as shown in Figure 2 (3 inches on one side, 7 inches on the other).
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
