Yes. The bumper beam must be removed as part of the installation process. Using a 21 mm socket, remove the 4 factory bolts from the bumper beam on both sides and keep them for reinstallation. The bumper beam should be returned to the owner after the hitch is installed.
You must remove: lower fascia (4 T25 screws and 2 10 mm bolts), wheel well liners (3 Phillips screws on each side), screws behind wheel well liners (2 Phillips screws on each side), mud flaps (2 T15 screws on each side), plastic panel near taillight (1 on each side), bolt near taillight (1 8 mm bolt on each side), plastic plug above reflector (1 on each side), the entire fascia (including electrical plug on passenger side), metal panel above bumper beam (1 10 mm bolt and 1 nut on each side), and bumper beam (4 21 mm bolts on each side).
You reuse the vehicle's existing M14 factory bolts. The hitch uses 8 existing M14 factory bolts from the vehicle's end panel. These bolts are not included with the hitch and must be loosely installed first, then tightened to the specified torque.
