The 76523 is a weight-carrying hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 3500 lb. (1588 kg) and maximum tongue weight of 525 lb. (238 kg). Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these limits.
You will need: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, 14mm socket, 17mm socket, 3/4" socket, socket extensions, wire brush, and 3/4" wrench. The fastener kit 76523F is also required and includes all bolts, washers, and nuts.
Yes. Using a 14mm socket, remove the two bolts from the tie-down bracket on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Return the bolts and bracket to the vehicle owner.
No. First, loosely install all fasteners. Using a 3/4" wrench and socket, loosely install the two 1/2" bolts, flat washers, conical washers, and hex nuts on both sides. Using a 17mm socket, loosely install the M10 bolt and 3/8" conical washer on both sides. Only after all fasteners are in place should you tighten them to the specified torque values.
Tighten all 1/2"-13 fasteners to 75 Ft.-Lb. (102 N·M) using a torque wrench.
Tighten all M10 fasteners to 42 Ft.-Lb. (57 N·M) using a torque wrench.
The conical washer teeth side must be oriented against the hitch. This is shown in Figure 1 of the installation instructions.
Use a wire brush to remove paint and debris from the weldnuts before installing the fasteners. This ensures proper contact and secure mounting.
If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up.
