Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.

The Draw-tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2" Square Receiver, Black for Select Jeep Compass 76629 (Part #DT76629) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Part numbers 76629, 84629, and CQT76629 are designed for Jeep Compass. However, the manual directs you to visit www.horizonglobal.com for the most up-to-date information regarding application years, sub-models, and trim levels, as compatibility varies by year and configuration.
The maximum gross trailer weight is 4000 lb (1814 kg) and maximum tongue weight is 600 lb (272 kg) for the weight-carrying type. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The lowest capacity of any component in your towing system determines the maximum load you can safely tow.
Required tools: torque wrench, sockets (11mm, 13mm, 21mm, 3/4"), 6" socket extension, T30 Torx bit socket, ratchet, tape measure, marker, utility knife, die grinder, pliers, tin snips, bungee cord, and safety glasses. The fastener kit 76629F is included with the hitch.
No drilling is required. However, you must enlarge existing holes in the bottom of the frame using a die grinder to allow the supplied carriage bolts and spacers to pass through. You must also cut a notch in the bumper fascia (3.375" wide × 3.25" tall) using a utility knife.
The following modifications are permanent: enlarging the rearward-most holes in the bottom of the frame using a die grinder, cutting a notch in the bumper fascia (3.375" wide × 3.25" tall), trimming the heat shield, and bending or removing the exhaust bracket locator tabs. These modifications cannot be reversed without replacing components.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m). Torque all M8 fasteners to 25 lb-ft (27 N·m). Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Always wear safety glasses during installation. Support the exhaust before removing hanger bolts to prevent damage. Verify the area is clear of all electrical wiring before trimming the fascia. Do not use a torch to cut access holes. Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle. Do not cut, weld, or modify the hitch.
Check that all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Regularly check that all fasteners remain tight and the hitch is securely mounted to your vehicle. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
The hitch 76629 includes the hitch assembly and fastener kit 76629F. The fastener kit contains: (6) carriage bolts 1/2"-13 × 1.75 GR5, (6) spacers .250 × 1.0 × 2.0, (6) conical washers 1/2", (6) hex nuts 1/2"-13 GR5, (6) pull wires 1/2"-13, and (2) M8 × 1.25 × 55 bolts CL 9.8. For tow hook equipped models, the existing 14mm hex bolts from the vehicle frame are reused instead of items 1-4.
Yes. For tow hook equipped models, use the 21mm socket to remove the (6) 14mm hex bolts from the vehicle frame and reuse them to attach the hitch instead of the supplied carriage bolts (items 1-4). Follow steps 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of the installation instructions.
Fish wire all (6) 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers through the enlarged hole into position as shown in Figure 1. Raise the hitch into mounting position with the main body on the rearward side. Pull downward on the rear bumper cover approximately +5" to accomplish getting the hitch in position. Remove the fish wires and install the (6) 1/2" hex nuts provided.
The conical washer teeth side must be against the hitch. This orientation is critical for proper fastener function and hitch security.
Cut a notch in the bottom of the fascia approximately 3.375" wide by 3.25" tall. Locate the center of the fascia using a tape measure and marker, then cut using a utility knife. Before trimming, ensure the area is clear of all electrical wiring. For vehicles with hands-free sensors, see the website for specific cutting instructions.
Remove the (6) plastic hole covers if present. Using a die grinder, enlarge the rearward-most holes in the bottom of the frame to allow the supplied carriage bolts and spacers to pass through. Do not use a torch to cut these holes.
Yes. Use an 11mm socket to remove the (3) sheet metal nuts holding the heat shield in position. Remove the heat shield and trim as shown in Figure 3. Then reinstall the heat shield to the center of the vehicle.
Use a 13mm socket to remove the (1) bolt on each of the (2) rearward-most exhaust hanger brackets. Support the exhaust before removing the bolts to prevent damage. Then bend the (2) small locator tabs flat on each exhaust bracket using pliers, or remove them entirely.
Yes. Using a T30 Torx bit, remove the (2) screws attaching the bumper fascia to the body mounts and save them for reinstallation. After installing the hitch, reinstall the fascia panel screws in step 9.
Reinstall the exhaust flange using the M8 bolts (item 6). Then reinstall the fascia panel screws that were removed in step 1.
Yes. For vehicles with hands-free door sensors, you must remove the kick plate sensor. Remove the (6) screws from the sensor plate and unclip the electrical connectors. Remove the sensor from the vehicle trim to match the bumper fascia opening and trim off the highlighted plastic area in red. Unclip the sensor tape and fold it in half, folding toward the driver's side of the vehicle. The manual directs you to the website for specific fascia cutting instructions for these vehicles.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball that has been damaged should be removed and replaced immediately.

Check that all fasteners are tight. Retorque all 1/2" fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m) and all M8 fasteners to 25 lb-ft (27 N·m). Regularly check that all fasteners remain tight and the hitch is securely mounted to your vehicle. If fasteners continue to loosen, the hitch may be damaged and should be removed and replaced.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged ball. Ensure the replacement ball is properly tightened before towing.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
