Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

Yes, the hitch fits Trailhawk models, but the installation procedure differs. Trailhawk models require removal of additional plastic rivets securing the heat shield, removal of existing M14 bolts from the rear frame, and reuse of those M14 bolts instead of all carriage bolts. The lower fascia is not fully removed on Trailhawk models.
Required tools: ratchet, torque wrench, safety glasses, sockets (7mm, 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 21mm, 3/4"), flat head screwdriver, utility knife, marker, 6" socket extension, and pliers.
Fastener kit 75998F includes: 6 carriage bolts ½-13 x 1.75 GR8, 6 spacers .250 x 1 x 3 (Part #3022), 6 conical washers ½" (Part #01292008), 6 hex nuts ½-13 GR8, 6 pull wires ½-13 (Part #55392), 4 cable ties, and 4 lock washers 9/16 M14.
Yes, trimming of the lower fascia is required. You must trim a 3.75" (height) by 3.5" (width) area as shown in the installation manual. For 2014-2018 and Trailhawk models, trim before raising the hitch. For 2019 non-Trailhawk models, trim after step 8. Use a utility knife to remove seam sealer near mounting holes for proper fitment.
Tighten all ½-13 GR8 fasteners to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M). Tighten all M14 CL 10.9 fasteners to 148 Lb.-Ft. (201 N·M). Use a torque wrench for proper tightening. Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or: 5000 lb. maximum gross trailer weight and 500 lb. maximum tongue weight. This applies to both weight-carrying and weight-distributing hitch types.
Check that all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners remain tight. Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.

Yes, the 75998 hitch fits 2014-current Jeep Cherokee models, including 2019 models. However, the installation procedure for 2019 models differs from 2014-2018 models. For 2019 models, you do not remove the lower fascia on Trailhawk models; instead, you pull the lower edge by hand after removing the bottom panel bolts. Non-Trailhawk 2019 models have a different fascia removal procedure. Refer to the 2019-specific installation steps in the manual.
Yes, lowering the exhaust is required for all model years. Use a 13mm socket to remove 2 bolts that connect the exhaust hanger bracket to the frame on each side. Support the exhaust with an exhaust support stand before removing the hanger brackets to prevent damaging the muffler. The hitch is raised into position over the exhaust during installation.
The lower fascia removal procedure varies by model year and trim. For 2014-2018 models and Trailhawk models, you must loosen and partially remove the lower fascia. For 2019 non-Trailhawk models, you remove the bottom panel but do not fully remove the lower fascia; instead, you pull the lower edge by hand. On Trailhawk models, you do not remove the lower fascia at all; you only pull the lower edge by hand after removing the bottom panel bolts.
Detach 3 vehicle wiring plastic fasteners from the frame rails on both sides using a screwdriver or trim panel tool. These fasteners secure the wiring to the frame. After installation, use cable ties to secure the vehicle wiring to the exhaust hanger bracket (2 cable ties for 2014-2018 and Trailhawk models) or to the exhaust hanger bracket and lower fascia to crosstube (2 cable ties each for 2019 models).
The rubber square plug is located in each frame rail. You must remove 1 rubber square plug from each frame rail (2 total) to access the frame for hitch installation. These plugs should be returned to the vehicle owner after removal.
Pull wires (Part #55392) are used to feed the carriage bolts and spacers through the access square holes in the frame. You feed the carriage bolt and spacer through the access square hole using the pull wires for both vertical and horizontal slots. Leave the pull wires attached initially, then raise the hitch into position and feed the pull wires through the bracket slot. Finally, remove the pull wires and install the conical washers, hex nuts, and lock washers to the hitch.
The conical washer teeth side must be against the hitch. This orientation is shown in the installation manual and is critical for proper fastener assembly.
Trailhawk installation differs in several ways: (1) Remove 4 extra plastic rivets securing the heat shield around the lower fascia and take the heat shield down. (2) Remove 2 existing M14 bolts from the rear vertical and horizontal frame on each side and keep them for reassembly. (3) Feed only 1 vertical hardware through the forward square slot and reuse the 2 M14 bolts removed earlier on each side instead of using all carriage bolts. (4) Do not remove the lower fascia; instead, pull the lower edge by hand after removing bottom panel bolts. (5) Adjust outside studs by bending them down with pliers. (6) Use the M14 CL 10.9 fasteners at 148 Lb.-Ft. (201 N·M) torque in addition to the ½-13 GR8 fasteners.
The spacers (.250 x 1 x 3, Part #3022) are used during the hitch installation process. You feed the carriage bolt and spacer together through the access square hole in the frame using the pull wires. The spacer helps position the bolt correctly within the frame access hole.
Only if equipped. If your Jeep Cherokee has integrated rear fascia exhaust outlets, you must remove them before installation. Use a 7mm socket to remove 3 bolts from around each exhaust outlet, then remove the outlets. This step applies to 2014-2018 models and Trailhawk models.
For 2019 Trailhawk models, trim the lower fascia before raising the hitch into position (after step 5). For 2019 non-Trailhawk models, trim the fascia after step 8, once the hitch is in position. In both cases, trim a 3.75" (height) by 3.5" (width) area centered on the lower fascia.
After raising the hitch into position, double-check that the trim area is sufficient for the hitch. If additional clearance is needed, make additional trimming as necessary. The manual notes that you may need to trim beyond the specified 3.75" x 3.5" area depending on your specific vehicle.
Using a utility knife, remove the seam sealer near the mounting holes and on the side of the frame for proper hitch fitment. This allows the hitch to sit correctly against the frame. The manual notes that you should remove seam sealer on the side of the frame specifically to ensure proper fitment.
The number of cable ties varies by model year. For 2014-2018 and Trailhawk models, use 4 cable ties total: 1 set to secure vehicle wiring to the exhaust hanger bracket. For 2019 models, use 4 cable ties total: 2 to secure vehicle wiring to the exhaust hanger bracket and 2 to secure the lower fascia to the crosstube.
After raising the hitch into position and removing the pull wires, loosely install the conical washers, hex nuts, lock washers (if needed), and M14 bolts (Trailhawk only) to the hitch. Do not tighten them yet. All fasteners are tightened together in the final step using a torque wrench to the specified torque values.
The carriage bolts are ½-13 x 1.75 GR8 (Grade 8). Six of these bolts are included in fastener kit 75998F. They must be tightened to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M) using a torque wrench.
The M14 bolts are CL 10.9 (Class 10.9). These are factory bolts that are removed from the rear vertical and horizontal frame and reused during installation. They must be tightened to 148 Lb.-Ft. (201 N·M) using a torque wrench.
The hex nuts are ½-13 GR8 (Grade 8). Six of these nuts are included in fastener kit 75998F. They are tightened to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M) as part of the ½-13 GR8 fastener assembly.
The conical washers are ½" (Part #01292008). Six of these washers are included in fastener kit 75998F. The teeth side of the conical washer must be oriented against the hitch during installation.
The lock washers are 9/16 M14. Four of these washers are included in fastener kit 75998F. They are used if needed during installation of the M14 fasteners on Trailhawk models.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball that has been damaged should be removed and replaced.
If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up. Proper loading and towing practices help prevent sway.
Always wear your seatbelt. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. Load the trailer heavier in front. Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or 5000 lb. gross trailer weight and 500 lb. tongue weight. Always read and follow all warnings and instructions for your vehicle and other accessories you will use with the hitch before use.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but emphasizes the importance of periodic checking to maintain hitch security during towing.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. This prevents damage to the vehicle interior and prevents exhaust gases from entering the cabin.
Check all fasteners periodically to ensure they are tight and the hitch is securely mounted to your vehicle. Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing. If the hitch or ball becomes damaged, it should be removed and replaced. The manual does not specify other maintenance requirements.
The 75998 hitch complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
No. Do not cut, weld, or modify this receiver. Doing so may compromise the structural integrity and safety of the hitch.
The average installation time is 1 hour for professional installers. If you do not feel comfortable performing this installation on your own or are in need of assistance, please contact a professional installer.

If the hitch does not fit properly, the most likely cause is insufficient trimming of the lower fascia or seam sealer not being removed. The manual states: 'Double check if the trim area is enough for the hitch. Make additional trimming if needed.' Also ensure that seam sealer on the side of the frame has been removed for proper fitment. If the hitch still does not fit, additional trimming beyond the specified 3.75" x 3.5" area may be necessary.
Ensure that all fasteners have been tightened to the correct torque specification using a torque wrench: ½-13 GR8 fasteners to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·M) and M14 CL 10.9 fasteners to 148 Lb.-Ft. (201 N·M). Check all fasteners periodically to ensure they remain tight. The manual emphasizes that 'Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.' If fasteners continue to loosen, verify that the correct torque wrench is being used and that the fasteners are being tightened to the specified values.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair or continue using a damaged hitch. Contact Horizon Global at 1-800-632-3290 for replacement options.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
