Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

The Draw-tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch, 2" Square Receiver, Black for Select Jeep Cherokee 75838 (Part #DT75838) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
No. Part number 75838 is designed for the Jeep Cherokee TrailHawk model only. It is not compatible with other Cherokee trim levels or model years not specified in the manual.
The kit includes: 6× M14 × 2.0 × 4.5mm CL10.9 bolts, 4× ½" conical washers, 6× 5/8" conical washers, 4× ½-13 hex nuts, 2× ¼" × 1-1/2" × 2" spacers (round hole), 2× ¼" × 1" × 2" spacers (square hole), 4× ½-13 × 1.75 GR5 carriage bolts, and 2× cable ties. Pull wire is also provided. The fastener kit is part number 75838F.
Required tools are: 21mm wrench, 22mm wrench, 3/4" wrench, torque wrench, screwdriver, pliers or trim tool, and the pull wire provided in the kit. No drill or drill bits are needed.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Contact the manufacturer or a professional installer for guidance on this safety requirement.
No. The manual states "Drill Bits: None" and the installation uses existing frame rail holes and the reverse pull-wire method to install carriage bolts into square holes in the frame rails. No drilling is required.
The manual does not explicitly state whether the bumper or fascia must be removed. The instructions reference rotating the hitch over the exhaust and feeding pull wires through slots, but do not specify bumper removal as a required step. Consult the manufacturer or a professional installer for clarification.
All M14 CL10.9 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 92 Lb.-Ft. (125 N·M).
All ½-13 GR5 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M).
The reverse pull-wire method is used to install carriage bolts into square holes in the frame rail. According to Figure 3: (A) Insert the bolt and block into the frame, (B) align the block on the access hole, and (C) pull the bolt through the block. The pull wire remains attached to the carriage bolt during this process and is removed only after the bolt is positioned and the conical washer and hex nut are ready to be installed.
When removing pull wires, place the washer over the pull wire and use it to hold the bolt in place while carefully removing the pull wire. Then attach the hex nut. This technique is used in steps 8 and 9 to secure the carriage bolts after they are positioned through the small bracket and hitch bracket.
1. Remove rubber plugs and detach vehicle wiring fasteners from frame rails (3 places each side). 2. Remove M14 bolts from outside of frame rails (2 each side) and return to owner. 3. Install small bracket using M14 bolts and conical washers (both sides). 4. Push brackets toward rear and tighten to torque spec. 5. Attach carriage bolts to pull wire and feed through small bracket slot. 6. Remove M14 bolts from bottom of frame rail and install carriage bolt and spacer using reverse pull-wire method. 7. Raise hitch into position over exhaust, feed pull wire through hitch bracket slot, and slide hitch over M14 bolt and spacer fasteners. 8. Remove pull wire from first carriage bolt and install conical washer and hex nut. 9. Remove pull wire from second carriage bolt and install conical washer and hex nut. 10. Tighten all fasteners to torque specification. 11. Secure vehicle wiring to forward hole on hitch bracket side using cable ties.
Step 7 instructs to raise the hitch into position rotating over the exhaust while being careful not to pinch or trap electrical wires. Vehicle wiring is attached to the frame rails and must be repositioned during installation. Pinching or trapping wires could damage the vehicle's electrical system and create a safety hazard.
After all fasteners are tightened, use the 2 cable ties included in the kit to secure the vehicle wiring to the forward hole on the side of the hitch bracket. This prevents the wiring from interfering with the hitch or becoming damaged.
The hitch has two capacity ratings depending on the ball mount type: Weight Distributing hitch: maximum gross trailer weight 6000 lb (2724 kg), maximum tongue weight 600 lb (272 kg). Weight Carrying Ball Mount: maximum gross trailer weight 5000 lb (2270 kg), maximum tongue weight 600 lb (272 kg). Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or the hitch rating.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual does not specify the frequency of checks or a detailed inspection procedure beyond verifying fastener tightness.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. This protects the vehicle's interior and mechanical systems from damage.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not attempt to repair a damaged hitch.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. Be careful not to pinch or trap electrical wires when raising the hitch into position.
Yes. The manual instructs to sort fasteners before installation. This helps ensure you use the correct fastener in each location and prevents installation errors.
Two M14 bolts are removed from the outside of each frame rail (2 each side, 4 total) in step 2. These fasteners are returned to the vehicle owner. One additional M14 bolt is removed from the bottom of each frame rail (1 each side, 2 total) in step 6 and is replaced with a carriage bolt and spacer.
The 75838 hitch is designed for the Jeep Cherokee TrailHawk model only. It is not compatible with other Cherokee trim levels.
You need 21mm, 22mm, and 3/4" wrenches, a torque wrench, screwdriver, pliers or trim tool, and the pull wire provided in the kit. No drill is required.
M14 CL10.9 bolts: 92 Lb.-Ft. (125 N·M). ½-13 GR5 carriage bolts: 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M). Use a torque wrench for all fasteners.
Check frequently that all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fume entry.
Wear eye protection. Work safely beneath the vehicle. Do not cut holes with a torch. Do not pinch or trap electrical wires when raising the hitch. Replace any damaged hitch or ball.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
