The first step is to remove the ground wire and wiring harness. Using a 10 mm socket, remove the ground wire from the inside of the passenger side frame rail and return the fastener to the vehicle owner. For model years after 2021, use a flat head screwdriver to detach the wiring harness on the driver side if present.
Use masking tape to secure spacer blocks in place. Secure the U-shaped spacer block (③) to the inside of the frame rail in the recessed area, centered around the hole in the frame, on both sides. Do not cover the ground wire hole below the hitch mounting hole. Also secure the .250 x 1.75 x 2.50 spacer block (⑥) to the forward mounting hole of the hitch bracket outer surface, centering the hole in the block with the slot in the bracket, on both sides.
Pull wires (⑩) are used to feed fasteners through the frame during installation. Feed the 5/8 pull wire through the attachment hole and out of the access hole in the frame. Attach the spacer block (②) and 5/8 carriage bolt (①) to the pull wire, then pull the fasteners inside the frame at four locations. Keep pull wires attached to hardware and leave hardware inside the frame temporarily until the hitch is raised into position.
Raise the hitch into position by feeding the end of the pull wires through the holes in the hitch, then pull the fasteners into position. Carefully remove the pull wires and loosely install the conical washers (④) and hex nuts (⑤) onto the carriage bolts. Be careful to keep the carriage bolts from falling inside the frame. On the driver's side, hold the wiring harness away from the hitch during installation.
Using a 13 mm socket, reattach the ground wire using the M8 bolt (⑦), lock washer (⑧), and flat washer (⑨) provided. Bend or flatten the ground wire bracket if needed. See Figure 1 for reference.
