Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

The Trailer Hitch for 03-09 Dodge Ram 2500, 03-09 Dodge Ram 3500 (Part #DT65046) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, part number 65046 is designed for Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 models with front mount installation. The hitch mounts to the existing frame rail bolt brackets on both sides of the vehicle.
If your vehicle does not have tow loops, use the optional spacers (2) as shown in Figure 2. These spacers (1.88" sq. x .179") are included in the installation kit and allow the hitch to mount properly without factory tow loops.
The hitch has a maximum winch line pull of 9,000 LB and a cargo capacity of 500 LB or the vehicle's front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), whichever is lower. Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these specifications.
You will need: wrenches in 18mm and 3/4" sizes, sockets in 18mm and 3/4", a 1/2" drill bit, a 1-1/4" hole cut saw, and a torque wrench. The torque wrench is essential for tightening fasteners to the correct specifications.
Yes, you must support the front bumper during the entire installation operation. This is the first step and is critical for safety while working beneath the vehicle.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill four 1/2" holes in the underside of the frame and two 1-1/4" access holes on the inside of each frame rail. The hitch is used as a template for the 1/2" holes. Do not use a torch to cut these holes.
All 1/2" GR5 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft.
All 12mm Cl8.8 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 68 Lb.-Ft.
1. Support the front bumper and loosen four 12mm hex nuts (two per side) holding the bolt brackets to the frame. Remove the bottom nuts completely and back out the bolt brackets without fully removing them. 2. Place spacers (1) over the lower bolts and raise the hitch into position. If no tow loops exist, use optional spacers (2). 3. Fasten the existing 12mm hex nuts onto the lower bolts and tighten snugly, ensuring hitch side brackets touch the frame bottom. 4. Using the hitch as a template, drill four 1/2" holes in the frame underside. 5. Drill two 1-1/4" access holes on the inside of each frame. 6. Use a pull wire (7) to feed a spacer (4) and carriage bolt (3) into each drilled hole. 7. Fasten carriage bolts with conical washers (5) and hex nuts (6), then torque all fasteners.
The kit includes: four spacers (1" x 2" x 1/4"), two optional spacers (1.88" sq. x .179"), four carriage bolts (1/2" x 1-1/2"), four conical washers (1/2"), four hex nuts (1/2"), and two pull wires. The fastener kit 65046F contains the 12mm hex nuts and bolts for the frame rail connection.
Use the pull wire (7) provided in the kit to feed a spacer (4) and carriage bolt (3) into each of the four drilled holes from the inside of the frame, as shown in Figure 3. This allows you to position the bolts without accessing the underside of the frame.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Verify that the hitch side brackets are touching the bottom of the frame. Perform regular inspections to maintain safe operation.
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. This protects the vehicle's interior and prevents corrosion.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Support the front bumper during the entire operation. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch, as this can damage the vehicle and create safety hazards. If the hitch or ball becomes damaged, remove and replace it immediately.
