Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Yes, part number 65081 (also available as CQT65081) is designed for 2019-current RAM 1500 models. However, it does NOT fit vehicles equipped with factory tow hooks. Check your vehicle to confirm it does not have factory tow hooks before purchasing.
No. This hitch does not fit RAM 1500 vehicles equipped with factory tow hooks. You will need a different hitch model compatible with factory tow hook vehicles.
Do not exceed the lower of your truck manufacturer's towing rating or 9,000 lb (4086 Kg) maximum winch line pull. Additionally, cargo capacity is limited to 500 LB (227 Kg) or your truck's front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), whichever is lower. Always follow your vehicle manufacturer's specifications.
Required tools include: safety glasses, utility knife, tape measure, marker, flat-head screwdriver, open-end wrench (3/4"), ratchet, torque wrench, and sockets in 8mm, 10mm, 13mm, 18mm, and 22mm sizes. Deep-well sockets are required for 10mm, 13mm, and 22mm. Socket extensions are also needed.
Yes. A torque wrench is required to properly tighten all fasteners to specification. The manual specifies torque values of 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M) for M12 and ½-13 fasteners, and 115 Lb.-Ft. (156 N·M) for M14 fasteners. Proper torque is essential to keep the hitch secure during towing.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing factory weld nuts in the frame and existing factory M12 bolts. However, trimming of the lower air dam is required. You must cut a rectangular hole in the lower air dam measuring 3-1/2" wide × 1-5/8" tall, centered, with 1/2" clearance from the top edge. Obtain vehicle owner permission before trimming.
The lower air dam must be trimmed. Cut a rectangular hole 3-1/2" wide × 1-5/8" tall, centered, with 1/2" clearance from the top edge of the lower air dam. Trimming of plastic air dam supports is optional. Obtain vehicle owner permission before making any cuts. Do not use a torch to cut; use a utility knife or tin snips.
Fastener kit 65081F includes: (2) M14-2.00 × 45 CL10.9 bolts, (2) 9/16" lock washers, (2) 9/16" flat washers, (2) special blocks 3/8" × 3" × 3" (part no. 128459), (2) U-shaped blocks ¼" × 1.0" × 2.0" (part no. 5994), (1) ½-13 × 1.75 Gr5 carriage bolt, (1) ½" conical washer (part no. 01292008), (2) ½-13 Gr5 hex nuts, (1) ½-13 × 1.75 Gr5 hex bolt, (4) ½" flat washers, and (1) ½" lock washer. The carriage bolt, conical washer, and one hex nut are removed from the hitch and reused during installation.
All M12 CL10.9 factory bolts must be tightened with a torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M). Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
All M14 CL10.9 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 115 Lb.-Ft. (156 N·M). Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
All ½-13 GR5 fasteners on the reinforcement bar must be tightened with a torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·M). Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Only if your RAM 1500 is equipped with a splitter. If present, remove it first using a 13mm deep-well socket to remove (4) hex nuts (2 per side), and disconnect the wiring using a flat screwdriver. Set it aside. You will reinstall it later using the same fasteners and reconnect the electrical plug.
The installation sequence is: (1) Remove splitter if equipped, (2) Remove plastic air dam supports, (3) Remove lower air dam, (4) Unfasten plastic wheel well, (5) Remove reinforcement bar from hitch, (6) Install hitch loosely, (7) Tighten M12 factory bolts to 75 Lb.-Ft., (8) Tighten M14 fasteners to 115 Lb.-Ft., (9) Trim lower air dam, (10) Reinstall lower air dam, (11) Trim air dam supports (optional), (12) Reinstall air dam supports if trimmed, (13) Reinstall splitter if equipped, (14) Install reinforcement bar, (15) Tighten ½-13 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft., (16) Secure plastic wheel well.
Using an 18mm socket, loosen the factory M12 bolt/washer enough to fit the special block (item 4) around the bolt and round tube protruding from the bottom of the frame. Install the special block flush against the hitch bracket and the U-shaped block fully seated against the factory M12 bolt/washer, on both sides. Tighten the M12 bolts enough to hold both blocks in position until fully tightened to specifications.
Raise the reinforcement bar into position with its forward end against the bottom of the hitch plate. Install the ½-13 × 1.75 hex bolt with ½" flat washer through the large access hole in the vehicle cross member and attach the ½" lock washer and ½-13 hex nut. Use a 3/4" open-end wrench inside the cross member to hold the hex bolt when tightening. Install the ½-13 × 1.75 carriage bolt vertically through the bar and hitch top plate and attach the ½" conical toothed washer and ½-13 hex nut. If necessary, add ½" flat washers between the reinforcement bar and cross member to fill gaps (3 are provided).
The conical washer must be installed with the teeth side facing against the hitch. This ensures proper seating and load distribution.
Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch; use a utility knife or tin snips instead. Do not cut, weld, or modify the receiver. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
Load the trailer heavier in front. Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or 9,000 lb (4086 Kg) maximum winch line pull. Always wear your seatbelt. Slow down when towing and never exceed any posted speed limit. If excess sway occurs, take your foot off the gas pedal and hold the steering wheel as steady as possible. Do not apply your brakes and do not speed up.
Check that all fasteners are tight and the hitch is securely mounted to the vehicle. Check frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Proper torque is needed to keep the hitch secure to the vehicle when towing.
Check the hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but periodic inspection is essential to maintain safety during towing.
