Fulton has produced marine and utility trailer hardware for more than a century, and its jacks, winches and couplers are a standard for light and medium-duty trailering. The XLT and F2 series cover swivel and fixed jacks, hand and powered winches from 1,500 to 3,200 pounds, and couplers built to keep working in wet, salty conditions.
With more than a hundred years of production behind it, Fulton has become the reference point for light and medium-duty trailer hardware, particularly on the marine side. That environment is the toughest test a trailer component faces. A boat trailer is reversed into fresh or salt water on every launch and left to sit wet, which finds every weakness in plating, sealing and material choice. Fulton's stated position is that the brand performs best when the weather is at its worst, and its product engineering reflects that. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Bulldog, Tekonsha and Wesbar.
Marine and utility jacks anchor the line. The XLT Series marine jack uses a bolt-through swivel mount built from three-dimensionally formed heavy-gauge steel stampings with a proprietary bushing material, a combination chosen to minimise deflection under tongue load while keeping the swivel action working after years of exposure. The F2 Series takes corrosion resistance further as the industry's only extruded aluminium marine jack with an anodised finish, which removes the rust problem at its source rather than coating over it. The wider trailer jack range covers topwind, sidewind and drop-leg configurations.
Trailer winches pull boats onto bunks and rollers. XLT Series winches use efficient gear ratios, full-length drum bearings, oil-impregnated shaft bushings and a Comfort Grip handle that makes the last few turns under load bearable, in 1,500 and 1,800 pound capacities. F2 Series winches use an enclosed frame for a cleaner look and added protection, in 1,600, 2,000 and 3,200 pound models, including two-speed options that trade line speed for cranking effort.
Couplers complete the range, including A-frame couplers matched to common tongue sizes and load ratings, serving boat owners, utility trailer users and trailer manufacturers.

Fulton® F2® Winches
The F2 Trailer Winch (part number F3647) is a manual-operated winch designed for pulling and securing loads on trailers. It features an adjustable handle (6" to 9") that can be configured for right or left-hand operation, and is available in single-speed and 2-speed versions. The winch is designed for intermittent duty cycle operation only and is not designed to secure boats to trailers while towing.
The mounting surface must be equal to or greater than the footprint of the winch frame. This ensures adequate support and load distribution for safe operation.
Three 3/8" diameter grade-5 carriage bolts with lock nuts are supplied for mounting the winch to the trailer structure.
A 9/16" socket is required to torque the handle assembly locknut. A torque wrench capable of measuring foot-pounds is needed to properly torque all fasteners to specification.
Yes. The adjustable handle can be mounted in right or left-hand orientation. To switch, remove the bolt and washers from each side of the drive shaft, push the hex shaft 1/2"-3/4" through to the other side (do not remove completely to keep internal gears and bushings aligned), place the handle bolt and washers on the handle side, and torque to 22-25 ft-lbs. Repeat for the opposite side. Do not over-torque.
The handle is adjustable from 6" to 9" in length, allowing configuration to suit different operator preferences and mounting locations.
The handle roller assembly locknut must be torqued to 20-25 ft-lbs using a 9/16" socket.
The handle bolts on each side of the drive shaft must be torqued to 22-25 ft-lbs. Do not over-torque.
The three 3/8" diameter grade-5 carriage bolts used to attach the winch to the trailer structure must be torqued to 28-30 ft-lbs.
Use the strap anchor provided with the winch. Pass the strap loop under the cross bolt, insert the strap anchor into the strap loop, then pull tight. Always maintain a minimum of three complete wraps of strap on the drum.
Always maintain a minimum of three complete wraps of strap on the drum. Capacity is based on direct line pull on the third layer of strap on the drum, and capacity is reduced as strap builds up on the drum.
A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when pulling the load. If the winch is properly engaged but no loud clicking sound is heard, do not use the winch and replace ratchet components immediately.
Fulton brand F2 winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull the rated load. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch.
No. Winches are not designed to secure boats to trailers while towing. Boat tie-downs must be used for this purpose.
No. Do not use the winch to move humans.
Before use, inspect the strap and replace if damaged. Check mounting hardware for proper tightness and re-torque if necessary. Gears, ratchet contact points, and shaft bushings must be kept lubricated with thin oil or grease.
Ensure the ratchet plunger is engaged in the forward or loading position. As you turn the handle, make sure the strap is winding onto the drum properly. If you must stop before the load is fully in, ensure the ratchet plunger is engaged and gradually release the winch handle to confirm the ratchet plunger is holding the load.
Before turning the handle, firmly grip the winch handle and disengage the ratchet plunger or engage it in the reverse direction. You may have to take in a small amount of strap to allow the ratchet plunger to unload. With a firm grip on the winch handle, slowly let out strap. If you must stop before the load is fully out, ensure the ratchet plunger is engaged in the forward or loading position and gradually release the winch handle to confirm the ratchet plunger is holding the load.
Make sure the ratchet plunger is properly engaged and holding the load before attempting to change gears. Firmly grasp the crank arm of the F2 2-speed winch where it attaches to the input shaft. Push/pull to shift: push in for high-gear and pull out for low-gear.
Never stand alongside the winch or guide the strap with your hands. Never operate with slippery, wet, or oily hands. Never attempt to stop the winch by grabbing the handle while in motion. Never release the crank handle unless the ratchet plunger is fully engaged and the load is supported. Never use cable or rope with the winch. Never exceed the maximum rated capacity.
The F2 winch is designed with precision fit components and corrosion-resistant materials to minimize maintenance frequency. Occasional cleaning with mild soap and water, along with light oil lubrication of contact points, will prolong peak performance and appearance. Periodically check mounting hardware for proper torque and tighten if necessary.
Gears, ratchet contact points, and shaft bushings must be kept lubricated with thin oil or grease. Light oil lubrication of contact points will prolong peak performance.
Check final installation and make sure the winch is secure to the mounting structure. Verify that all three mounting bolts are properly torqued to 28-30 ft-lbs and that the winch does not move or shift on the mounting surface.
The mounting surface must be equal to or greater than the footprint of the winch frame. Verify your trailer has adequate mounting surface before purchasing.
Three 3/8" diameter grade-5 carriage bolts with lock nuts are supplied. You will need a 9/16" socket and a torque wrench to properly install the winch.
Mounting bolts: 28-30 ft-lbs. Handle roller assembly locknut: 20-25 ft-lbs. Adjustable handle bolts: 22-25 ft-lbs.
Fulton brand F2 winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull the rated load. If you cannot crank with one hand, the winch is overloaded.
Always maintain a minimum of three complete wraps of strap on the drum. Capacity is based on the third layer and reduces as strap builds up.
Periodically check mounting hardware for proper torque and tighten if necessary. The manual does not specify an exact interval.
A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when pulling the load. If the winch is properly engaged but no loud clicking sound is heard, do not use the winch. Replace ratchet components immediately.
Excessive force in turning the winch handle may indicate overload. Fulton brand winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull the rated load. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch. Reduce the load.
Ensure the ratchet plunger is fully engaged before releasing the handle. The winch will not hold the load when the load is being let out or when the ratchet plunger is not properly engaged. Never release the crank handle unless the ratchet plunger is fully engaged and the load is supported.
Check that all three mounting bolts are properly torqued to 28-30 ft-lbs. If the winch is still loose, verify that the mounting surface is equal to or greater than the footprint of the winch frame and that the surface is flat and solid. Re-torque all bolts to specification.
