All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. The Model 415114 GRIP STEPS are universal step boards designed to be mounted to vehicles using a separate bracket package specific to your vehicle. The boards are made of aluminum extrusion and can be cut to length to fit various applications. They include support braces, end caps, and fasteners for assembly and mounting.
The Model 401338 is designed specifically for 2013 and newer Dodge Ram 3500 cab pickups only. If you have a different vehicle or model year, you will need a different bracket package. Check your vehicle year and model against this specification before purchasing.
The Model 415114 boards are universal and can be adapted to many applications, but they must be paired with a bracket package specific to your vehicle. The boards alone do not include mounting brackets. You must follow the instructions included with your vehicle-specific bracket package to mount the brackets to your vehicle.
You will need a saber saw, chop saw, or hack saw to cut the board to the required length. You will also need a wrench or socket set to install the carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts that attach the step assembly to the mounting brackets. Flat black paint is required to touch up the cut ends of the board.
The Model 415114 package includes: 2 aluminum extrusion boards (item #1), 10 galvanized support braces (item #2), 4 black plastic end caps (item #3), 14 black lower spacer plates (item #4), 20 stainless steel 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolts (item #5), 20 stainless steel 5/16" flat washers (item #6), 20 stainless steel 5/16-18 serrated flange nuts (item #7), and 8 stainless steel #8-18 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screws (item #8). Note: some flange nuts for bracket attachment are supplied in the bracket package, not the step package.
Yes. The board can be modified from its original length to fit many applications. Determine the required length and cut using a saber saw, chop saw, or hack saw. After cutting, use flat black paint to touch up the exposed cut ends.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step board (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 3. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step. 4. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 5. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step, between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 6. Using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nut (items #5, #6, #7), attach the step assembly, spacer plate, and mounting bracket.
All fasteners attaching the step assembly to the mounting brackets must be torqued to 19 LB FT. This includes the 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts (items #5, #6, #7). Tighten all fasteners after setting the step plate in the correct position.
1. Place the driver's side front bracket (item #1) against the pinchweld with the lower mounting flange to the outside. 2. Align the two rectangular holes of the lower mounting flange with the two obround holes in the pinchweld. 3. Insert two 1/4-20 x 1" carriage bolts (item #8) through the lower mounting flange and pinchweld. 4. Place a 1/4" flat washer (item #9) and 1/4-20 flange nut (item #10) on each bolt and leave finger tight. 5. Insert an M8 x 25mm screw (item #11) with a 5/16" flat washer (item #12) through the slots on the upper mounting flange and leave finger tight. 6. Repeat for the middle and rear brackets (item #2). 7. For the passenger side, use item #2 for the front bracket and item #1 for the middle and rear brackets (mirror image of driver's side).
1. Install the T-bolt weldment (item #14) into the large obround hole in the rocker panel vertical wall, inserting the nut end first and leaving the threaded stud sticking out. Attach the flat plastic bolt retainer (item #15) to the threaded stud to prevent the T-bolt from falling into the rocker panel. 2. Place the driver's side front bracket (item #1) against the pinchweld with the lower mounting flange to the outside. 3. Align the two rectangular holes of the lower mounting flange with the two obround holes in the pinchweld. 4. Insert two 1/4-20 x 1" carriage bolts (item #8) through the lower mounting flange and pinchweld. 5. Place a 1/4" flat washer (item #9) and 1/4-20 flange nut (item #10) on each bolt and leave finger tight. 6. Place a flat washer (item #12) and M8 flange nut (item #13) on the threaded stud of the T-bolt and leave finger tight. 7. Rotate the T-bolt so the threaded nut is visible through the slotted hole in the upper mounting flange. 8. Insert an M8 x 25mm screw (item #11) with a 5/16" flat washer (item #12) and leave finger tight. 9. Repeat steps 1-8 for the middle and rear brackets (item #2). 10. For the passenger side, use item #2 for the front bracket and item #1 for the middle and rear brackets (mirror image).
1. Loosen the bolt that fastens the leaf spring to the vehicle. 2. Slide the upper mounting bracket (item #4) between the bolt head and the frame bracket. 3. Place a 3/8" bolt and washer (items #5 and #7) through the hole in the upper mounting bracket and frame bracket. 4. Fasten with a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #6). 5. Tighten the leaf spring bolt while ensuring that the upper mounting bracket is level.
Fasten the lower bracket (item #3) to the upper bracket (item #4) using a 3/8" bolt, washer, and flange nut (items #5, #6, #7). Use the two lower holes in the upper bracket and ensure that the lower bracket sits level to the front brackets.
Install the step plates and adjust the brackets and boards before tightening all fasteners. This allows you to position everything correctly before final tightening.

Torque all fasteners attaching the step assembly to the mounting brackets to 19 LB FT.
Install and adjust the step plates and brackets before tightening all fasteners. This allows proper positioning before final tightening.
Insert support braces into the step channel, slide end caps over the front and rear, screw end caps to the bottom, then attach the assembly to mounting brackets using carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts torqued to 19 LB FT.
