LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards equip your pickup truck for whatever job lies ahead. They offer easier truck bed access, fleet-level safety, a highly rust-free construction and a custom fit for your truck and lifestyle. Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are the ideal solution for better truck bed access. Whether you need to reach a truck tool box, ladder rack or some cargo in the truck bed, the wheel-to-wheel steps are extra-long, providing a convenient step up for reaching into the truck bed. Gr ip Step running boards are also built for hard work, featuring expanded metal treads that offer fleet-approved safety. The open treads ensure maximum traction for your boots -- whether rain or shine -- and they also help keep your truck's interior clean by allowing dirt, snow and debris to pass through the boards. For superior resistance to the elements, Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are made from aluminum alloy. They're strong, lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize this corrosion resistance, the running boards and brackets are both shielded in a durable black powder coat finish. The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. This particular set of wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Models 415078 and 415088 are universal grip step boards designed to be mounted to vehicles using a separate bracket package. Model 415078 is 77.62 inches long and model 415088 is 87.75 inches long. Both are black aluminum extrusions with support braces, end caps, and spacer plates included.
The CURT 400717 Wheel to Wheel Step Brackets are designed specifically for 2007 GM Silverado and Sierra pickups in Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab configurations. If your vehicle is a different year, make, or model, this bracket will not fit. You will need a different bracket package matched to your vehicle.
The grip step boards (models 415078 and 415088) are universal and can be used with any compatible bracket package. However, the bracket package itself is vehicle-specific. You must use a bracket package designed for your vehicle's make, model, year, and cab style. Follow the instructions included with your specific bracket package.
The grip step assembly (models 415078/415088) includes: 8 support braces (part 551296), 4 end caps (part 551394), 8 spacer plates (part 551298), 16 carriage bolts 5/16-18 x 1.0" (part 108683), 16 flat washers 5/16" (part 101369), 16 serrated flange nuts 5/16-18 (part 102680), and 8 self-drilling tek screws #8 x 1/2" (part 107958).
The 400717 bracket package includes: 6 mounting brackets, 6 nylon spacer washers, 12 M8 x 30 screws, 12 flat washers 5/16", 6 5/16" x 1.00" screws, 6 M8 flanged nuts, 6 U-nuts 5/16"-18, 6 pinch weld support brackets, 4 washers 1/2", 2 nylock nuts 3/8"-16, 2 hex bolts 3/8"-16 x 2.00", 4 washers 3/8", 2 outboard spring hanger mounting brackets, and 2 inboard spring hanger mounting brackets.
The manual does not mention battery disconnection. No electrical work is involved in the installation of these grip steps.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 3. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step. 4. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 5. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step, between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 6. Attach using the 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7).
1. Attach the top of the mounting brackets (item #1) to the vehicle as shown in Figure 1. 2. Insert 5/16" multi-thread U-nuts (item #7) into the upper holes in the rocker panel. Note: Some vehicles have threaded inserts in the rocker panels and will not require U-nuts. 3. Attach the top of the brackets with 5/16-18 x 1.0" screw and flat washer (items #5 and #4), hand tighten only. If your vehicle has threaded inserts, use a black M8 x 30mm screw (item #3) instead. 4. Insert a nylon washer (item #2) between the top of the mounting bracket and the bottom of the rocker panel, then install the black M8-1.25 screw (item #3) and washer (item #4). 5. Place the pinch weld support bracket (item #8) above the pinch weld and install the M8 flange nut (item #6). 6. Tighten all fasteners to 19 LB FT.
1. Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough so the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #14) can be slid up behind the flange of the bolt. 2. Position the inboard bracket behind the flange with the channel open to the outboard side. 3. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #13) so its inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket. 4. Use the 3/8" zinc-plated bolt (item #11), 3/8" washer (item #12), 1/2" washer (item #9), and 3/8" zinc-plated nylock nut (item #10). 5. Do not tighten these bolts until the bracket is attached to the step assembly. 6. After the step assembly is attached, tighten the spring hanger bolt per the manufacturer's specifications.
All 5/16" fasteners on the grip step assembly must be torqued to 19 LB FT. This applies to the carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts that attach the step assembly, spacer plate, and mounting bracket together.
All fasteners on the 400717 bracket must be tightened to 19 LB FT. This includes the fasteners attaching the mounting brackets to the rocker panel and the pinch weld support bracket. The spring hanger bolt should be tightened per the manufacturer's specifications (refer to your vehicle's service manual or GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E).
CURT Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle. This applies to the 400717 bracket installation.
Yes. The manual explicitly states: Read instructions completely and check to make sure that all required parts (listed on the service parts list) are on hand before starting the installation. This applies to both the grip step assembly and the bracket package.
The support braces (item #2) slide into the channel of the step (item #1) to provide structural support. During installation, each support brace is then slid over the top of each mounting bracket to transfer the load from the step to the vehicle's mounting brackets.
The flat spacer plate (item #4) is attached to the bottom of the step, positioned between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. It helps distribute the load and maintain proper spacing during the fastening process.
The end caps (item #3) slide over the front and rear of each step and are secured to the bottom of the step using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screws (item #8). They provide a finished appearance and protect the ends of the step extrusion.
Yes. Some vehicles will have threaded inserts in the rocker panels and will not require the installation of U-nuts (item #7). If your vehicle has threaded inserts, you will use a black M8 x 30mm screw (item #3) in place of the 5/16-18 x 1.0" screw (item #5) for the upper rocker panel attachment.
Do not tighten the spring hanger bolts (items #11 with washers #9 and #12, and nylock nut #10) until the bracket is attached to the step assembly. After the step assembly is fully attached, tighten the spring hanger bolt per the manufacturer's specifications.
The 400717 is designed for 2007 GM Silverado and Sierra pickups in Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab configurations only. If your vehicle is a different year, make, or model, you need a different bracket package.
The grip step boards (415078 and 415088) are universal, but they require a vehicle-specific bracket package. You must use a bracket package designed for your vehicle's make, model, year, and cab style.
Torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 LB FT. This includes the carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts on both the grip step assembly and the 400717 bracket.
Yes. When attaching the 400717 brackets to the rocker panel, hand-tighten the 5/16-18 x 1.0" screw and flat washer first, then tighten all fasteners to 19 LB FT. Do not tighten spring hanger bolts until the step assembly is attached.
Regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E. Failure to maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in vehicle damage.
