LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards equip your pickup truck for whatever job lies ahead. They offer easier truck bed access, fleet-level safety, a highly rust-free construction and a custom fit for your truck and lifestyle. Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are the ideal solution for better truck bed access. Whether you need to reach a truck tool box, ladder rack or some cargo in the truck bed, the wheel-to-wheel steps are extra-long, providing a convenient step up for reaching into the truck bed. Grip Step running boards are also built for hard work, featuring expanded metal treads that offer fleet-approved safety. The open treads ensure maximum traction for your boots -- whether rain or shine -- and they also help keep your truck's interior clean by allowing dirt, snow and debris to pass through the boards. For superior resistance to the elements, Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are made from aluminum alloy. They're strong, lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize this corrosion resistance, the running boards and brackets are both shielded in a durable black powder coat finish. The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. This particular set of wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Grip Step package includes: 2 step extrusions (either 77.62" for model 415078 or 87.75" for model 415088), 8 support braces, 4 end caps, 8 spacer plates, 16 carriage bolts (5/16-18 x 1"), 16 flat washers, 16 serrated flange nuts, and 8 self-drilling tek screws (#8 x 1/2"). The bracket package is ordered separately and includes its own fasteners.
Yes, the model 400717 is designed for 2007 GM Silverado and Sierra Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab pickups. The bracket package is specific to these vehicles and includes all necessary mounting hardware for these applications.
The Grip Steps themselves (models 415078 and 415088) are universal and can be used with any compatible bracket package. The difference between the two models is the step length: 415078 is 77.62" and 415088 is 87.75". The bracket package you select determines vehicle compatibility.
The Grip Step package supplies: #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screws for end caps, 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolts, washers, and serrated flange nuts for attaching the step to brackets. The bracket package supplies additional fasteners specific to your vehicle, including some flange nuts. The manual notes that some flange nuts are in the bracket package, not the step package, so verify all parts are present before starting.
Yes. The Grip Step instructions cover assembly of the step itself and attachment to brackets. You must also follow the separate instructions included with your specific bracket package to mount the brackets to your vehicle. Both sets of instructions are required for complete installation.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step extrusion (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 3. Screw the end cap to the bottom of the step using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8). 4. Set the assembled step on the mounting brackets and attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 5. Attach using the 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nut (items #5, #6, #7).
The manual states that you should slide "the appropriate number of support braces" into the channel of the step, but does not specify the exact number per step. The service parts list shows 8 support braces are supplied total for the step assembly. Refer to the specific bracket package instructions or contact the manufacturer for the correct number for your application.
All 5/16" fasteners (carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts) must be torqued to 19 LB FT. This applies to the fasteners attaching the step assembly, flat spacer plate, and mounting bracket together.
1. Attach the top of the mounting brackets to the vehicle using either 5/16-18 x 1.0" screws (if no threaded inserts) or M8 x 30mm screws (if threaded inserts are present); hand tighten only. 2. Insert a nylon washer between the bracket and rocker panel, then install the M8-1.25 screw and washer. 3. Place the pinch weld support bracket above the pinch weld and install the M8 flange nut. 4. Tighten all fasteners to 19 LB FT. 5. Loosen the spring hanger bolt and slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket behind its flange. 6. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket using the 3/8" bolt, washers, and nylock nut; do not tighten until the step assembly is attached. 7. Attach the step assembly per its instructions, then tighten the spring hanger bolt per manufacturer specifications.
Yes. The manual states that some vehicles will have threaded inserts in the rocker panels and will not require the installation of U-nuts. If your vehicle has threaded inserts, use the black M8 x 30mm screw (item #3) in place of the 5/16-18 x 1.0" screw. However, the manual does not provide a method to determine in advance whether your specific vehicle has these inserts; you may need to inspect the rocker panel or contact the manufacturer.
The nylon washer (item #2, 0.312 ID x 1.24 OD x 0.25 thick) is installed between the top of the mounting bracket and the bottom of the rocker panel. It serves as a spacer to protect the vehicle's finish and provide proper clearance during installation of the M8-1.25 screw.
The pinch weld support bracket (item #8) is placed above the pinch weld during installation of the 400717 brackets. It provides structural support at the pinch weld attachment point and is secured with the M8 flange nut.
The spring hanger mounting brackets should not be tightened until the step assembly is attached to them. After the step assembly is fully installed, tighten the spring hanger bolt per the manufacturer's specifications (not specified in this manual).
All fasteners on the 400717 brackets are torqued to 19 LB FT, including the top mounting bracket fasteners and the pinch weld support bracket fasteners. The spring hanger bolt must be tightened per the manufacturer's specifications, which are not provided in this manual.
Curt Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle.
The leaf spring attachment point is critical to vehicle safety and structural integrity. Loose fasteners at this point can cause clunking noises and, if not maintained, may result in damage to the vehicle. Regular inspection and re-torquing per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E ensures the brackets remain secure and safe.
Yes, the 400717 Wheel to Wheel Step Brackets fit 2007 GM Silverado and Sierra Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab pickups. Confirm your truck year and cab style match before ordering.
Yes. The Grip Step package includes fasteners for step assembly and attachment to brackets. The bracket package includes vehicle-specific fasteners. Verify all parts are present before starting installation.
Yes. You must follow both the Grip Step instructions and the separate bracket package instructions. The bracket instructions cover mounting to your vehicle; the step instructions cover assembly and attachment to the brackets.
Torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 LB FT. This applies to both the Grip Step assembly and the 400717 bracket installation. The spring hanger bolt must be torqued per manufacturer specifications.
If your vehicle has threaded inserts, use the black M8 x 30mm screw (item #3) instead of the 5/16-18 x 1.0" screw, and do not install U-nuts. You may need to inspect the rocker panel to determine if inserts are present.
Regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E. Re-torque fasteners to factory specifications to prevent damage and clunking noises.
