LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards equip your pickup truck for whatever job lies ahead. They offer easier truck bed access, fleet-level safety, a highly rust-free construction and a custom fit for your truck and lifestyle. Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are the ideal solution for better truck bed access. Whether you need to reach a truck tool box, ladder rack or some cargo in the truck bed, the wheel-to-wheel steps are extra-long, providing a convenient step up for reaching into the truck bed. Grip Step running boards are also built for hard work, featuring expanded metal treads that offer fleet-approved safety. The open treads ensure maximum traction for your boots -- whether rain or shine -- and they also help keep your truck's interior clean by allowing dirt, snow and debris to pass through the boards. For superior resistance to the elements, Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are made from aluminum alloy. They're strong, lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize this corrosion resistance, the running boards and brackets are both shielded in a durable black powder coat finish. The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. This particular set of wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

CURT offers two universal grip step models: 415078 (77.62" extrusion) and 415088 (87.75" extrusion). These are boards only and require separate mounting brackets. Model 401447 is a wheel-to-wheel step bracket system designed specifically for 2014 GM Silverado and Sierra pickups.
The 401447 is designed for 2014 GM Silverado and Sierra pickups in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab configurations. If your truck is a different year, make, model, or cab style, this bracket will not fit. You would need to use the universal 415078 or 415088 grip step boards with a different bracket package designed for your vehicle.
Yes, both models are universal applications. The difference is the extrusion length: model 415078 is 77.62" long, and model 415088 is 87.75" long. Both use the same support braces, end caps, spacer plates, and fasteners. The choice depends on your vehicle's width and your preferred step length.
Each grip step package includes: 2 extrusions (the step boards), 8 support braces (upper, galvanized), 4 end caps (black plastic), 8 spacer plates (lower, black), 16 carriage bolts (5/16-18 x 1.0", stainless steel), 16 flat washers (5/16", stainless steel), 16 serrated flange nuts (5/16-18, stainless steel), and 8 self-drilling tek screws (#8-18 x 1/2", stainless steel, black). You must also obtain the appropriate mounting bracket package for your vehicle.
The 401447 bracket package includes: 3 right-hand and 3 left-hand mounting brackets, 12 M8 x 30mm screws (stainless steel, zinc plated), 12 flat washers (5/16", stainless steel, zinc plated), 6 5/16" x 1.00" screws (zinc plated), 6 M8 flanged nuts (zinc plated), 6 U-nuts (5/16"-18), 6 pinch weld support brackets, 4 1/2" washers (zinc plated), 2 3/8" nylock nuts (zinc plated), 2 3/8" x 2.00" bolts (zinc plated), and 4 3/8" washers (zinc plated). You must also obtain the grip step board assembly (415078 or 415088) separately.
Read the complete installation instructions and verify that all required parts listed in the service parts list are on hand before starting. For the 401447 model on 2014 GM trucks, also check whether your vehicle has threaded inserts in the rocker panels, as this affects which fasteners you will use. Follow the instructions included with your specific bracket package.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step extrusion (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 3. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step. 4. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 5. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step, between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 6. Attach using the 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7).
1. Attach the top of the mounting brackets (item #1) to the vehicle as shown in Figure 1. 2. Insert 5/16" multi-thread U-nuts (item #7) into the upper holes in the rocker panel (unless your vehicle has threaded inserts). 3. Attach the top of the brackets with either 5/16-18 x 1.0" screw and flat washer (items #5 & #4) if using U-nuts, or black M8 x 30mm screw (item #3) if your vehicle has threaded inserts. Hand tighten only at this stage. 4. Install the black M8-1.25 screw (item #3) and washer (item #4), place the pinch weld support bracket (item #8) above the pinch weld, and install the M8 flange nut (item #6). Tighten all fasteners to 19 LB FT.
1. Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough so the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #14) can be slid up behind the flange of the bolt. Position it behind the flange with the channel open to the outboard side. 2. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #13) so its inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket. 3. Use the 3/8" zinc-plated bolt (item #11), 3/8" washer (item #12), 1/2" washer (item #9), and 3/8" zinc-plated nylock nut (item #10). Do not tighten these bolts until the bracket is attached to the step assembly. 4. After the step assembly is attached, tighten the spring hanger bolt per the manufacturer's specifications.
All 5/16" fasteners (carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts used to attach the step assembly to the mounting brackets) must be torqued to 19 LB FT. This applies to both the universal 415078/415088 models and the 401447 wheel-to-wheel bracket system. The spring hanger bolt on the 401447 must be tightened per the manufacturer's specifications (refer to GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E for 2014 GM trucks).
CURT Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle. Establish a regular inspection schedule and re-torque the leaf spring bolts as specified by GM.
Yes. Some 2014 GM Silverado and Sierra vehicles have threaded inserts in the rocker panels, while others do not. If your vehicle has threaded inserts, you will use black M8 x 30mm screws (item #3) instead of 5/16-18 x 1.0" screws (item #5). Check your rocker panels before installation to determine which fasteners you need.
The 401447 wheel-to-wheel step bracket is designed only for 2014 GM Silverado and Sierra pickups in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab configurations. If your truck is a different year, make, model, or cab style, it will not fit.
Yes. The 415078 and 415088 are boards only and require a separate mounting bracket package designed for your specific vehicle. Follow the instructions included with your bracket package.
Torque all 5/16" fasteners (carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts) to 19 LB FT. This applies to both universal models and the 401447 wheel-to-wheel bracket system.
Hand tighten the top bracket fasteners initially (section 2.3). Do not tighten the spring hanger bolts until the bracket is attached to the step assembly. Once the step assembly is fully attached, tighten all fasteners to 19 LB FT.
Read the complete instructions and verify all required parts are on hand. For 401447 on 2014 GM trucks, check whether your vehicle has threaded inserts in the rocker panels, as this determines which fasteners you will use.
Regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E. Failure to maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in vehicle damage.
