LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards equip your pickup truck for whatever job lies ahead. They offer easier truck bed access, fleet-level safety, a highly rust-free construction and a custom fit for your truck and lifestyle. Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are the ideal solution for better truck bed access. Whether you need to reach a truck tool box, ladder rack or some cargo in the truck bed, the wheel-to-wheel steps are extra-long, providing a convenient step up for reaching into the truck bed. Grip Step running boards are also built for hard work, featuring expanded metal treads that offer fleet-approved safety. The open treads ensure maximum traction for your boots -- whether rain or shine -- and they also help keep your truck's interior clean by allowing dirt, snow and debris to pass through the boards. For superior resistance to the elements, Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are made from aluminum alloy. They're strong, lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize this corrosion resistance, the running boards and brackets are both shielded in a durable black powder coat finish. The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. This particular set of wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 2500 HD, 3500 or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

CURT offers two Grip Step models: 415078 (77.62" extrusion) and 415088 (87.75" extrusion). Both are boards-only and designed for universal applications. The steps require separate mounting brackets, which vary by vehicle application.
Yes, the Model 401117 Wheel to Wheel Step Brackets are designed for 1999 GM Silverado and Sierra Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab Pickups. Installation instructions are specific to these vehicles and include different mounting procedures for Extended Cab versus Crew Cab configurations.
Yes. If you are mounting the steps on a 1500 model pickup, you must attach bracket item #14 (90 Degree, 3 Holes) to brackets items #1 and #2 in order to use the load reaction stud. This bracket is included in the parts package.
The Grip Steps package includes: 8 support braces (item #2, galvanized), 4 end caps (item #3, black plastic), 8 lower spacer plates (item #4, black), 16 carriage bolts 5/16-18 x 1" (item #5, stainless steel), 16 flat washers 5/16" (item #6, stainless steel), 16 serrated flange nuts 5/16-18 (item #7, stainless steel), and 8 self-drilling tek screws #8 x 1/2" (item #8, stainless steel, black). Note: Some flange nuts may be supplied in the specific bracket package, not the step package.
The 401117 bracket package includes: front, center, rear inboard, and rear outboard cab mounting brackets (left and right); 6 rubber cushion washers (0.354 ID x 1.00 OD x 0.75 thick); 12 flat washers 3/8" (0.438 ID x 1.00 OD); 24 serrated flange nuts 3/8-16; 6 double-ended studs 3/8-16 x 4.50"; 6 bolts 3/8-16 x 1.00"; 2 flat washers (0.59 ID x 1.06 OD); 2 ninety-degree brackets with 3 holes; 2 hex head cap screws 5/16-18 x 1.00; 2 serrated flange nuts 5/16-18; 2 flat washers 5/16"; 4 flat washers 1/2"; 2 nylock nuts 3/8-16; 2 hex head bolts 3/8-16 x 2.00; 4 flat washers 3/8"; and 2 spring hanger mounting brackets (outboard and inboard).
Read the complete installation instructions and verify that all required parts listed on the service parts list are on hand before starting. For the 415078 and 415088 models, you must also follow the instructions included with the specific bracket package you are using to mount the brackets to your vehicle.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step. 3. Using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8), screw the end cap to the bottom of the step. 4. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 5. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step, between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 6. Using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, #6, #7), attach the step assembly, flat spacer plate, and mounting bracket.
1. On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (item #11), install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #10) backwards to the bottom of the thread. 2. Install a black 3/8" flat washer (item #9) and rubber cushion washer (item #8) tight up against the serrated flange nut. The end of the stud must be recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". 3. On the long threaded end of the stud, install a black 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #10) backwards to near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard side of the bracket through the lowest hole in the bent flange that will allow the rubber washer to set firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a black flange nut (item #10) on the outboard end of the stud, finger tight only. The load reaction stud assemblies attach to the body mounting brackets as shown in the installation diagrams.
1. Remove the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts one side of the vehicle at a time. 2. Install the front mounting brackets (items #1 and #2) to the front cab mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. 3. Install the center mounting brackets (items #3 and #4) to the center cab mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. 4. Install the rear inboard mounting bracket (item #7) and washer (item #13) to the rear cab mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. For Extended and Crew Cab only: attach the rear outboard cab mounting brackets (items #5 and #6) to the rear inboard bracket (item #7) using 3/8" bolts, washers, and serrated flange nuts, torqued to 19 lb-ft.
1. Loosen the spring hanger bolt just enough so that the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #23) can be slid up behind the flange of the bolt. Position it behind the flange with the channel open to the outboard side. 2. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #22) so that its inboard vertical portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket, using a 3/8" zinc-plated bolt (item #20), 3/8" washer (item #21), 1/2" washer (item #18), and 3/8" zinc-plated nylock nut (item #19). Do not tighten these bolts until the bracket is attached to the step assembly.
Yes. When attaching the rear outboard cab mounting brackets to the rear inboard bracket, Extended Cab models use the bottom single hole and top double holes in the rear inboard bracket, while Crew Cab models use the bottom single hole and bottom double holes. Both configurations torque the bolts to 19 lb-ft and position the bolts through the front side of the bracket so serrated flange nuts are on the back side for frame clearance.
Torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 lb-ft. This applies to the carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts that attach the step assembly, flat spacer plate, and mounting bracket.
Torque the 3/8" bolts that attach the rear outboard cab mounting brackets (items #5 and #6) to the rear inboard cab mounting bracket (item #7) to 19 lb-ft. This applies to both Extended Cab and Crew Cab configurations.
The manual specifies that you must tighten the body mount bolts and spring hanger bolts per manufacturers specs. These torque values are not provided in the CURT installation manual and must be obtained from the GM factory service manual for your specific vehicle year and model.
Due to excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area on 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing the body mount bolts to reduce the risk of causing damage to the threaded inserts inside the vehicle.
CURT Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle.
Yes, the Model 401117 Wheel to Wheel Step Brackets fit 1999 GM Silverado and Sierra Regular, Extended, and Crew Cab Pickups. Installation procedures differ slightly between Extended and Crew Cab models.
Yes, you must attach bracket item #14 (90 Degree, 3 Holes) to brackets items #1 and #2 to use the load reaction stud on 1500 model pickups.
You need 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolts, 5/16" flat washers, and 5/16-18 serrated flange nuts (16 of each). These are included in the step package. Some flange nuts may come in the bracket package instead.
Yes. Before attaching the grip steps to the brackets, slide the support braces into the channel of the step, then slide the end caps over the front and rear and secure them with the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screws.
Torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 lb-ft. For the Model 401117 rear outboard bracket bolts, also torque to 19 lb-ft.
On 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra, use caution when removing body mount bolts due to excessive thread locker to avoid damaging the threaded inserts inside the vehicle.
Regularly inspect and maintain the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E to prevent vehicle damage from loose fasteners.
