LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards equip your pickup truck for whatever job lies ahead. They offer easier truck bed access, fleet-level safety, a highly rust-free construction and a custom fit for your truck and lifestyle. Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are the ideal solution for better truck bed access. Whether you need to reach a truck tool box, ladder rack or some cargo in the truck bed, the wheel-to-wheel steps are extra-long, providing a convenient step up for reaching into the truck bed. Grip Step running boards are also built for hard work, featuring expanded metal treads that offer fleet-approved safety. The open treads ensure maximum traction for your boots -- whether rain or shine -- and they also help keep your truck's interior clean by allowing dirt, snow and debris to pass through the boards. For superior resistance to the elements, Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are made from aluminum alloy. They're strong, lightweight and highly corrosion-resistant. To maximize this corrosion resistance, the running boards and brackets are both shielded in a durable black powder coat finish. The running boards also feature hardened plastic end caps that eliminate sharp corners and add a professional touch. All LUVERNE Grip Step wheel-to-wheel steps are designed for vehicle-specific applications. This ensures a custom fit and the easiest possible installation. The running boards mount with vehicle-specific brackets and use pre-existing mounting points to avoid difficult modifications. This particular set of wheel-to-wheel running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (see application information to verify fitment; brackets included but shipped separately).
Grip Step wheel-to-wheel running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Grip Steps boards-only package includes two extrusions (either 77.62" for model 415078 or 87.75" for model 415088), eight support braces, four end caps, eight spacer plates, 16 carriage bolts (5/16-18 x 1"), 16 flat washers, 16 serrated flange nuts, and eight self-drilling tek screws (#8 x 1/2"). You must purchase a separate bracket package to mount these steps to your vehicle.
Yes, the 401747 is designed for 2015 and newer GM 2500/3500HD pickups in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab configurations, with either gas or diesel engines. It uses a body mount application with no drilling required.
The 415078 and 415088 are universal step boards only. They require a separate vehicle-specific bracket package for mounting. The difference between the two models is the extrusion length: 415078 is 77.62" and 415088 is 87.75".
The manual does not specify required tools. You will need a wrench or socket set to tighten the 5/16" carriage bolts and nuts, and a screwdriver or drill to install the #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screws. Consult the bracket package instructions for any additional tools needed for bracket installation.
The manual does not specify required tools. You will need wrenches or sockets to handle 3/8" fasteners (for bracket assembly and body mount bolts) and 5/16" fasteners (for step board attachment). You will also need a torque wrench to achieve the specified torque values. A socket or wrench may be needed to loosen the spring hanger bolt.
Yes. The 401747 installation requires removal of the factory front, center, and rear body mount bolts. The manual notes that 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra models have excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area, so use caution when removing these bolts.
Yes, the 401747 is a no-drill application. It uses existing factory body mount holes and spring hanger attachment points on 2015+ GM 2500/3500HD pickups.
1. Slide the appropriate number of support braces (item #2) into the channel of the step (item #1). 2. Slide the end cap (item #3) over the front and rear of each step and screw it to the bottom using the supplied #8 x 1/2" self-drilling tek screw (item #8). 3. Set the step on the mounting brackets and slide each support brace over the top of each mounting bracket. 4. Attach the flat spacer plate (item #4) to the bottom of the step between the support brace and the top of the mounting bracket. 5. Attach the step assembly using the supplied 5/16-18 x 1" carriage bolt, washer, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7).
On the short threaded end of the load reaction stud (item #12), install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards to the bottom of the thread. Then install a 3/8" flat washer (item #10) and rubber cushion washer (item #9) tight against the serrated flange nut, with the end of the stud recessed in the rubber washer approximately 3/16". On the long threaded end, install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) backwards near the bottom of the threads.
Insert the stud from the inboard (frame) side through the lowest hole in the bent flange of the bracket that will allow the rubber washer to seat firmly against the side wall of the frame. Install a 3/8" serrated flange nut (item #11) on the outboard end of the stud, finger tight only, until step 8 when you tighten it to final torque.
On the left side, preassemble the front bracket (items #1, 3, 14) using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (items #10, 11, 13), torqued to 19 LB. FT. Then install the front mounting bracket (items #1, 3) to the front body mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. Repeat on the right side using the right-hand front bracket.
Install the center mounting bracket (item #4) to the center body mount, leaving fasteners finger tight. For regular cab models only, the center bracket serves as the rear bracket. For double and crew cab models, install the rear inboard mounting bracket (item #8) and washer (item #15) to the rear body mount, finger tight. Then attach the rear outboard bracket (item #6) to the rear inboard bracket (item #8) using three 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws, 3/8" flat washers, and 3/8" flange nuts (items #13, 10, 11), torqued to 19 LB. FT., with the outboard bracket mounted to the back side (toward the rear) of the inboard bracket.
Loosen the spring hanger bolt or nut just enough to slide the inboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #18) behind the flange of the bolt or nut, with the channel open to the outboard side. Install the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket (item #19) so its inboard portion fits inside the channel of the inboard bracket, using a 3/8-16 x 2" bolt, 3/8" flat washer, 1/2" flat washer, and 3/8-16 nylon lock nut (items #10, 16, 17, 20). Leave loose until the step board is in place.
Leave all body mount fasteners (front, center, and rear) finger tight until after the step boards are installed. Leave the outboard spring hanger mounting bracket fasteners loose until the step board is in place. After the step boards are installed, tighten the load reaction stud flange nuts to 19 LB. FT. Finally, torque all body mount fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications (ensure mounting brackets do not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing).
Torque all 5/16" fasteners to 19 LB. FT. This applies to the carriage bolts, washers, and flange nuts (items #5, 6, 7) that attach the step assembly to the mounting brackets.
Torque all 3/8" fasteners to 19 LB. FT. This applies to the 3/8"-16 x 1.0" screws used in bracket preassembly (step 2), the rear outboard bracket attachment (step 5.4), and the load reaction stud flange nuts (step 8). Factory body mount fasteners must be torqued to the manufacturer's specifications.
Curt Group recommends regular inspection and maintenance of the leaf spring attachment point per GM Technical Service Bulletin 09-03-09-001E: Clunking Noise from Rear of Vehicle (Re-torque Leaf Spring Bolts) for 2007-2017 Chevrolet GMC Trucks. Failure to regularly inspect and maintain factory-recommended torque values may result in damage to the vehicle.
The 2010+ GM Silverado/Sierra has excessive thread locker in the body mount bolt area. Use caution when removing these bolts to avoid stripping threads or damaging the fasteners.
After installation, ensure that the mounting brackets do not touch the inside wall of the body mount housing. Torque the body mount fasteners to the manufacturer's specifications. Position the load reaction bolt assembly so the rubber cushion is snug against the side of the frame, then tighten the 3/8" flange nuts on either side to 19 LB. FT.
