Get the job done right with LUVERNE Grip Step 7" running boards. These roughneck truck side steps feature a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing. They are built from aluminum alloy for exceptional, rust-free strength, and they are simple to install using high-strength vehicle-specific brackets. The rugged, expanded metal tread and angular design of Grip Step running boards truly makes them a side accessory fit for your work truck or commercial van. No matter the season, the superior traction of Grip Steps locks onto the bottom of your boots and provides safe vehicle entry and exit. Because they boast an impressive 7" width, the side steps are as comfortable as they are skid-resistant. We know the job doesn't make exceptions to keep your vehicle looking pretty, and that is why Grip Step running boards are made from aluminum and shielded in a tough powder coat finish. We use a 5052 aluminum alloy to provide maximum strength and unstoppable rust resistance. To finish things off and add a professional touch, we also apply a durable textured black powder coat and contoured black plastic end caps to further protect against dirt, moisture and other threats on the job. To make installation as simple as possible, Grip Step 7" running boards are each designed for a custom-fit installation, using vehicle-specific mounting brackets. The brackets are covered in a durable black powder coat finish and bolt onto the boards using stainless steel fasteners for long-lasting strength. This particular set of Grip Step running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Ford F150 and Lincoln Mark LT (see application info to verify fitment). These running boards come with brackets, but the brackets are shipped separately.
Grip Step running boards are designed to be the best running boards for work trucks, featuring a unique expanded metal tread pattern for superior traction and a 7" width for reliable footing.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Curt Model 400922 step brackets are designed for 2004 Ford F-150 Super Cab and SuperCrew Cab pickups only. Confirm your cab style (Super Cab or SuperCrew Cab) before purchasing, as the installation procedure differs between the two. The brackets will not fit other model years or cab styles.
Super Cab installation uses two center mounting brackets (Item #1) attached to the vehicle with both top and bottom fasteners. SuperCrew installation uses only the second-from-front mounting bracket (Item #1) with an angle bracket (Item #6) attached to it. The angle bracket is positioned with the angle towards the multi-thread U-nut in the offset hole. Both require the same front and rear bracket installation, but the center bracket configuration differs.
The bracket package includes: 8 mounting brackets (551851), 8 hex head cap screws 5/16" x 1.00" black plated (106997), 8 black plated flat washers (106998), 10 serrated flange nuts (102680), 4 multi-thread U-nuts 5/16" (104264), 2 angle brackets (551559), 6 hex head cap screws 5/16" x 1.00" zinc plated (100647), 6 zinc plated flat washers (100034), and 4 self-tapping screws 5/16" x 3/4" (104267). The step assembly itself is not included and requires separate installation instructions.
The manual specifies drilling is required but does not list specific tools. You will need a drill capable of making 11/32" and 7/32" holes, a clamp to hold brackets in position during drilling, and standard wrenches or sockets to tighten 5/16" fasteners. A level is needed to ensure brackets are level before final tightening. The manual does not specify whether a torque wrench is required, though all 5/16" fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill an 11/32" hole in the pinch weld area to align with the bottom hole in the bracket, and a 7/32" hole into the top of the rocker panel. These holes are permanent modifications to your vehicle. The brackets should be clamped into position before drilling to ensure accurate hole placement.
The front and rear brackets should be positioned approximately 6" from the back of the cab and 6" from the front of the cab. The center mounting brackets (Super Cab) or second-from-front bracket (SuperCrew) must align the top hole with the multi-thread U-nut installed in the rocker panel, and the offset hole must align with the hole in the pinch weld. Figure 1 in the manual shows the exact positioning, but the reference points for the 6" measurements are not fully detailed.
1. Install 5/16" multi-thread U-nuts (Item #5) in the rocker panel: top rear hole of the second pattern from front, and top front hole of the third pattern from front, with threads facing inward. 2. Install front and rear brackets by clamping in position, drilling the 11/32" pinch weld hole, attaching the bottom with hex cap screw, washer, and flange nut, drilling the 7/32" rocker panel hole, and installing the self-tapping screw. 3. For Super Cab: attach two center mounting brackets with both top and bottom fasteners. For SuperCrew: attach the second-from-front bracket with angle bracket. 4. Level all brackets and tighten fasteners. 5. Attach the step assembly per its separate instructions.
Install 5/16" multi-thread U-nuts (Item #5) in two locations: the top rear hole of the second pattern from the front, and the top front hole of the third pattern from the front. Insert the threaded half of the U-nut through the large access holes and slide it towards the round hole until it seats. The threads must face inward (toward the inside of the rocker panel). These U-nuts provide the mounting points for the top of the brackets.
The bottom of each bracket is attached to the pinch weld using: one 5/16" x 1.00" black plated hex head cap screw (Item #2), one 5/16" black plated flat washer (Item #3), and one 5/16" serrated flange nut (Item #4). These fasteners go through the hole you drill in the pinch weld (11/32" diameter). All 5/16" fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft.
The top of each bracket is attached to the multi-thread U-nut using one 5/16" x 1.00" zinc plated hex head cap screw (Item #7) and one 5/16" zinc plated flat washer (Item #8). These fasteners thread into the U-nuts installed in the rocker panel. All 5/16" fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft.
After drilling a 7/32" hole into the top of the rocker panel, install a 5/16" x 3/4" self-tapping screw (Item #9) into the hole and tighten it. Be careful not to over-tighten this screw, as over-tightening can damage the rocker panel. The manual does not specify a torque value for this screw.
The angle bracket (Item #6) is used only on SuperCrew Cab installations. It is attached to the mounting bracket (Item #1) using a 5/16" x 1.00" zinc plated hex head cap screw (Item #7), 5/16" zinc plated flat washer (Item #8), and 5/16" serrated flange nut (Item #4). The angle bracket is positioned with the angle towards the multi-thread U-nut in the hole that is offset from the pinch weld hole. This bracket provides additional support for the SuperCrew configuration.
All 5/16" fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft. This applies to the hex head cap screws, flat washers, and serrated flange nuts used throughout the installation. The manual does not specify a torque value for the 5/16" x 3/4" self-tapping screw (Item #9); it only warns against over-tightening.
Two hole sizes are required: an 11/32" hole drilled in the pinch weld area to align with the bottom hole in the bracket, and a 7/32" hole drilled into the top of the rocker panel for the self-tapping screw. Both holes are permanent modifications to your vehicle.
Yes. Do not over-tighten the 5/16" x 3/4" self-tapping screw (Item #9) in the rocker panel, as this can damage the panel. The manual also requires that brackets be leveled before final tightening of fasteners to ensure proper alignment and safe operation. No other safety warnings or protective equipment requirements are specified in the manual.
The manual requires that brackets be leveled and all fasteners be tightened before use. All 5/16" fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft. The manual does not specify post-installation inspection steps, retorque intervals, or maintenance procedures beyond the initial installation.
Yes, if you have a 2004 Ford F-150 Super Cab or SuperCrew Cab. The installation procedure differs between cab styles. It does not fit other model years.
Yes. You must drill an 11/32" hole in the pinch weld and a 7/32" hole in the rocker panel. These are permanent modifications.
The package includes hex head cap screws (black and zinc plated), flat washers, serrated flange nuts, multi-thread U-nuts, angle brackets, and self-tapping screws. See the Service Parts List for complete quantities and part numbers.
All 5/16" fasteners must be torqued to 19 lb-ft. No torque specification is provided for the self-tapping screw; do not over-tighten it.
Yes. The manual states that the step assembly has its own installation instructions that must be reviewed for specific attachment details. These instructions are not included in this bracket manual.
Do not over-tighten the self-tapping screw in the rocker panel, as this can damage the panel. Ensure brackets are leveled before final tightening.
