They are built from aluminum alloy for exceptional, rust-free strength, and they are simple to install using high-strength vehicle-specific brackets. The rugged, expanded metal tread and angular design of Grip Step running boards truly makes them a side accessory fit for your work truck or commercial van. No matter the season, the superior traction of Grip Steps locks onto the bottom of your boo ts and provides safe vehicle entry and exit. Because they boast an impressive 7" width, the side steps are as comfortable as they are skid-resistant. We know the job doesn't make exceptions to keep your vehicle looking pretty, and that is why Grip Step running boards are made from aluminum and shielded in a tough powder coat finish. We use a 5052 aluminum alloy to provide maximum strength and unstoppable rust resistance. To finish things off and add a professional touch, we also apply a durable textured black powder coat and contoured black plastic end caps to further protect against dirt, moisture and other threats on the job. To make installation as simple as possible, Grip Step 7" running boards are each designed for a custom-fit installation, using vehicle-specific mounting brackets. The brackets are covered in a durable black powder coat finish and bolt onto the boards using stainless steel fasteners for long-lasting strength. This particular set of Grip Step running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Avalanche, Silverado 1500, 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Suburban, 1500 or 2500 and GMC Sierra 1500, 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Yukon XL, 1500 or 2500 (see application info to verify fitment). These running boards come with brackets, but the brackets are shipped separately.

The Curt 400713 step brackets fit 2007 GM Silverado and Sierra Extended/Crew Cab Pickups, and 2007 GM Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche, Yukon, and Yukon XL models. If your vehicle is a different year, model, or cab style, this bracket is not compatible.
The bracket package includes 6 mounting brackets (part 551861), 6 nylon spacer washers (107182), 12 M8 × 30 mm stainless steel screws (100180), 12 standard 5/16" flat washers (106998), 6 5/16" × 1.00" zinc-plated screws (100647), 6 M8 flanged nuts (105859), 6 5/16" U-nuts (105541), and 6 pinch weld support brackets (551666). Note that the step assembly itself is sold separately and includes its own installation instructions.
Yes. Before installation, you must determine whether your vehicle's rocker panels have factory threaded inserts or require U-nuts. Some 2007 GM vehicles have threaded inserts pre-installed in the rocker panel; others do not. This determines which fasteners you will use. Check the rocker panel upper holes before starting installation.
If your vehicle has factory threaded inserts in the rocker panel, use the black M8 × 30 mm screws (part 100180) instead of the 5/16-18 × 1.0 screws. You will not need to install the 5/16" U-nuts (part 105541). You will still use the nylon washers, flat washers, and pinch weld support brackets as specified.
If your vehicle does not have factory threaded inserts, insert the 5/16" U-nuts (part 105541) into the upper holes in the rocker panel first. Then attach the brackets using the 5/16-18 × 1.0 screws (part 100647) with flat washers (part 106998). You will also install the nylon washers and pinch weld support brackets as specified.
1. Attach the top of the mounting brackets to the vehicle. 2. If the vehicle does not have threaded inserts, insert the 5/16" U-nuts into the upper rocker panel holes. 3. Install the nylon washer between the top of the mounting bracket and the rocker panel. 4. Install the appropriate screw (M8 × 30 mm if threaded inserts are present, or 5/16-18 × 1.0 if U-nuts are used) with a flat washer. 5. Place the pinch weld support bracket above the pinch weld. 6. Install the M8 flanged nut (unless a threaded insert is present). 7. Hand-tighten all fasteners, then torque to 19 lb-ft. 8. Repeat for each mounting bracket. Finally, attach the step assembly according to its separate instructions.
All fasteners on the mounting brackets must be torqued to 19 lb-ft. This applies to both the upper rocker panel fasteners and the pinch weld fasteners. Hand-tighten all fasteners first, then apply the final torque.
Hand-tighten all fasteners initially. After all brackets are installed and positioned, torque all fasteners to 19 lb-ft. Do not fully tighten fasteners until all brackets are in place.
The nylon washer (part 107182) is installed between the top of the mounting bracket and the bottom of the rocker panel. It is placed before the screw and flat washer are installed.
The pinch weld support bracket (part 551666) is positioned above the pinch weld to provide structural support during fastening. It is installed with the M8 flanged nut and helps distribute load across the vehicle's pinch weld area.
No. If your vehicle has factory threaded inserts in the rocker panel, you do not install the M8 flanged nut (part 105859). The threaded insert serves as the fastening point instead. The flanged nut is only used when U-nuts are installed.
