MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards are uniquely designed with extra length on the rear of the boards, reaching all the way to the back wheels. This provides a convenient and secure step for reaching into the truck bed and accessing the crossover truck tool box, headache rack or 5th wheel hitch. The entire length of the running boards is covered with a non-skid rubber tread for enhanced safety, even in wet, rainy conditions. Unlike plastic treads, rubber offers better grip for your boots or shoes. The base of MegaStep wheel-to-wheel running boards is an extruded aluminum alloy, providing excellent strength, while remaining lightweight and completely rust-free. To give these truck side steps a touch of style, they are fitted with a polished stainless steel trim that contours around the boards and gives them a look similar to popular nerf bars. The trim piece is polished to a mirror-like shine and easily withstands rain, snow, dirt and more. To make installation fast, easy and secure, LUVERNE MegaStep wheel-to-wheel steps are made vehicle-specific. Each set has a specific board length and vehicle-specific brackets, providing a custom fit for each unique truck. The brackets install using pre-existing mounting points to eliminate difficult modifications, and the running boards can be positioned inward, outward, forward or backward to suit personal preferences. Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. Brackets are identified by notches on the inboard edge: 1 notch for bracket #1, 2 notches for bracket #2, 3 notches for bracket #3, and 4 notches for bracket #4. Bracket #1 is positioned at the front of the vehicle. For Regular Cab applications, only brackets #1 and #3 are used for cab mounts.
For Regular Cab applications, use only brackets #1 (Item #2) and #3 (Item #4) for the cab mounts. Brackets #2 and #4 are not used on Regular Cab models.
The mounting brackets attach to existing threaded inserts in the rocker panel interior wall. Both holes of each bracket must line up with the threaded inserts before fastening.
Position the step board so that the square head screws inserted in the center slot on the underside of the step are located in the slots of the mounting brackets. The step must be centered front to rear on the cab. You can then locate the step in and out as desired before final tightening.
Insert four 5/16" square head screws into the center slot on the underside of the step, and one additional square head screw into the outer slot for the box bracket, for a total of five screws per step.
1. Insert the clipped bolt (Item #16) into the inboard bracket (Item #15) and place a nut on a few threads, leaving it loose. 2. Hold the bracket up to the leaf spring mount and place the clipped bolt into the obround hole, finger tight. 3. Insert the top screw (Item #17) from behind the frame rail through the leaf spring mount and inboard bracket, and place a nut finger tight. 4. Mount the outboard bracket (Item #14) to the inboard bracket using two screws, washers, and nuts. 5. Mount the step board to the outboard bracket with serrated flange nuts on square head screws. Tighten all fasteners to 19 lb ft.
All fasteners on the 570757 MEGA STEPS must be tightened to 19 lb ft. This applies to the mounting bracket fasteners, step board fasteners, and rear W2W bracket fasteners.
The top of each mounting bracket is secured with an M8-1.25×25 mm zinc-plated hex head cap screw, a 5/16" flat washer, and a lock washer. These fasteners are tightened to 19 lb ft.
