LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Express 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.

Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.

The Model 571346 MEGA STEPS are designed for 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with a 155" wheelbase. If your van meets these specifications, the product should fit. Verify your van's wheelbase and model year before purchasing.
Yes. The U-nut installation location differs by van model: for 1500 vans, install the U-nut in the top hole of the mounting bracket; for 2500 and 3500 vans, install the U-nut in the bottom hole. This applies to the front, center, and rear mounting brackets. Step 9 notes an exception: for 2500 and 3500 vans, install the U-nut in the top hole of the third (rear center) bracket.
The step assembly (575114) includes 16 square head bolts (5/16"-18 X 1") and 16 hex flange nuts (5/16"-18). Additional hardware supplied separately includes mounting brackets (front, center, and rear for left and right sides), U-nuts, serrated flange nuts, hex head cap bolts, flat washers, rubber washers, spacer washers, cap plugs, and a rubber washer. Verify all parts listed in the Service Parts List are present before starting installation.
Yes. You must remove the factory body mounting bolts (there are multiple on each side of the vehicle). The bolts, steel washers, and rubber cushions from these factory mounts will be reused as part of the installation. You will also need to remove the nut and washer from the front spring shackle bolt on each side; the factory nut is saved and reused. Keep all removed hardware as it is required for the installation.
Both the front mounting bracket (Item #2) and the second (center) mounting bracket (Item #4) should be tightened to 65 lb. ft. The spring shackle bolt (rear bracket assembly) should also be tightened to 65 lb. ft. The step plate bolts are tightened to a different specification: 19 foot pounds of torque.
The load reaction bolt assembly consists of a hex bolt, serrated flange nuts, flat washer, and rubber washer. After screwing the bolt through the U-nut, adjust the assembly so that the rubber cushion (or rubber plug) is snug against the frame before tightening the outside flange nut. For the front bracket assembly, 3/4" should protrude from the face of the nut before installing the flat washer and rubber washer. This ensures proper load distribution and frame contact.
Position the step on the mounting brackets so that the square head screws (installed in the front track of the step plates) are located in the slots of the mounting brackets. The step should be centered front to rear on the vehicle. Finger tighten the serrated flange nuts initially. Then align the step plate with the bottom of the body sheet metal so the top of the step is approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. Finally, tighten the step plate bolts to 19 foot pounds of torque.
After mounting the first, second, and third brackets, you must measure from the bottom of the body flange down to the bottom of each mounting bracket to ensure they are all at the same height. When installing the third (rear center) bracket, adjust it to match this dimension before tightening the bolts. This ensures the step will sit level and properly aligned on the vehicle.
Yes. After completing steps 1 through 10 on the left side, repeat the same steps on the right side of the vehicle. The mounting brackets are side-specific (left and right versions are supplied), but the installation procedure and torque specifications are identical for both sides.
The step plate bolts (5/16"-18 square head screws with serrated flange nuts) should be tightened to 19 foot pounds of torque. These bolts should be finger tightened initially when positioning the step, then tightened to final specification after the step is properly aligned with the body panel.
The spring shackle bolt (rear bracket assembly) should be tightened to 65 lb. ft. This bolt uses the factory nut that was removed during disassembly, along with a black spacer washer, mounting bracket, and 5/8" flat washer.
The factory bolts, steel washers, and rubber cushions from the body mounting points are reused when installing the front and center mounting brackets. The factory nut from the front spring shackle bolt is also reused. All other hardware (U-nuts, serrated flange nuts, hex head cap bolts, flat washers, rubber washers, spacer washers, and cap plugs) is supplied with the MEGA STEPS kit.
The cap plugs (Item #13, .364 X .625 vinyl, black) are installed onto the end of the U-nut on the second (center) mounting bracket and the third (rear center) mounting bracket. They serve to cap off the U-nut and are part of the load reaction bolt assembly.
Six mounting brackets are required: one front bracket on each side (left and right), two center brackets on each side (left and right), and one rear bracket on each side (left and right). The front brackets are Items #2 (LH) and #3 (RH); the center brackets are Items #4 (LH) and #5 (RH); the rear brackets are Items #6 (LH) and #7 (RH).
The step end of each mounting bracket should be perpendicular to the outside body of the vehicle. This applies to both the front and center mounting brackets. Proper orientation ensures the step will be correctly positioned relative to the vehicle body.
The top of the step should be approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. The step plate should be aligned with the bottom of the body sheet metal. Adjust the step position before final tightening to achieve this alignment.
