LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality. They have 5" wide treads that extend the full length of the side steps, and they feature a strong, lightweight aluminum core with a stainless steel trim for a bright, clean accent. MegaStep running boards mount easily with vehicle-specific brackets, pre-installed fasteners and an adjustable design to perfectly fit your unique vehicle. LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

Original price was $667.95. Current price is $585.95.The MEGA STEPS Model 570340 are designed for 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with 135" or 155" wheelbase. Confirm your van's model year (2003 or newer) and wheelbase measurement before purchasing. The manual does not specify whether other wheelbase lengths are compatible.
The step assembly is 36.00" long, as indicated by part number 575036 (STEP ASSY- 36.00").
The kit includes the 36" step assembly (575036), four mounting brackets (two front, two rear, one for each side), fasteners including studs, screws, nuts, washers, and U-nuts. The square head bolts and hex flange nuts for the step plates are included in the step assembly itself. Check the Service Parts List on page 2 for the complete inventory before starting installation.
The manual does not specify which tools are required for installation. Contact the manufacturer or your installer to confirm what wrenches, sockets, torque wrench, and other tools are needed.
Yes. You must remove the factory body mounting bolts on both the left and right sides of the vehicle. These bolts, along with their steel washers and rubber cushions, are reused as part of the installation. The manual specifies removal of two bolts per side (four total).
Both the front mounting bracket (Item #3) and the second mounting bracket (Item #5) must be tightened to 65 lb. ft. This torque is applied to the factory body mounting bolt after the load reaction bolt assembly is adjusted so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame.
The step plate bolts (square head screws, 5/16"-18 X 1") must be tightened to 19 foot pounds of torque. These bolts should be finger-tightened only during initial positioning, then torqued to the final specification after the step is aligned.
Position the step so that the square head screws are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. The step plate should be aligned with the bottom of the body sheet metal, with the top of the step approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel.
Yes. For the second mounting bracket (Item #5), use the top hole on 1500 vans and the bottom hole on 2500 and 3500 vans. This ensures proper alignment and load distribution for each van size.
The load reaction bolt assembly is a component that transfers load from the step to the vehicle frame. For the front bracket, it consists of a 3/8"-16 X 5 stud (Item #11), 3/8"-16 serrated flange nuts (Item #13), and a .354 X 1.00 X .748 rubber washer (Item #17) installed into a multi-thread U-nut (Item #14). For the rear bracket, use a 3/8"-16 X 1-1/4" screw (Item #10) and 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (Item #13) into the U-nut. Refer to figure 1 in the manual for assembly details.
The manual specifies that the step end of the bracket must be perpendicular to the outside body but does not explain the reason. This is likely to ensure proper step alignment, safe operation, and correct load distribution. Verify perpendicularity during installation.
After installing the mounting bracket to the body mount, you must adjust the load reaction bolt assembly (the stud or screw protruding from the bracket) so that the rubber cushion between the bracket and body is pressed snugly against the vehicle frame. Once adjusted, tighten the outside flange nut to lock it in place. This ensures proper load transfer and prevents movement.
No. During step 9, install the 5/16" serrated flange nuts on the square head screws and finger-tighten only. Do not apply full torque until after the step is aligned to the body sheet metal (step 10). Then tighten the step plate bolts to 19 foot pounds of torque (step 11).
Yes. The installation instructions specify that after completing steps 1-6 on the left side, you must repeat steps 1-6 on the right side of the vehicle (step 7). This ensures balanced support and proper step alignment.
The front mounting bracket uses a 3/8"-16 X 5 stud (Item #11, part number 104673). This stud is assembled into the load reaction bolt assembly with serrated flange nuts and a rubber washer, then installed to the front body mount and tightened to 65 lb. ft.
The rear mounting bracket uses a 3/8"-16 X 1-1/4" screw (Item #10, part number 100047). This screw is assembled into the load reaction bolt assembly with a serrated flange nut, then installed to the second body mount and tightened to 65 lb. ft.
The step plate uses eight square head bolts, 5/16"-18 X 1" (Item #19, part number 106880), with 5/16" serrated flange nuts (Item #20, part number 102680). These bolts are finger-tightened during positioning, then torqued to 19 foot pounds.
The rubber washer is .354 X 1.00 X .748 inches (Item #17, part number 102592). Two washers are included in the kit, one for each side of the vehicle.
The multi-thread U-nuts are 3/8"-16 X 1.09" (Item #9, part number 109258). Four U-nuts are included in the kit, two for the front mounting brackets and two for the rear mounting brackets.
The top of the step should be approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. This clearance is critical for proper alignment and safe operation. Verify this measurement during installation before final torquing.
Yes, if you have a 2003 or newer Chevrolet Express or GMC Savana van with a 135" or 155" wheelbase. Confirm your model year and wheelbase before purchasing.
Yes. The kit includes all mounting brackets, studs, screws, nuts, washers, and U-nuts needed for installation. The square head bolts and hex flange nuts for the step plates are included in the step assembly.
Yes. You must remove the factory body mounting bolts on both sides of the vehicle. These bolts are reused as part of the installation.
Tighten the mounting brackets to 65 lb. ft. and the step plate bolts to 19 foot pounds. Finger-tighten the step plate bolts initially, then apply final torque after alignment.
Center the step front to rear on the vehicle with the top approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. The square head screws must be located in the slots of the mounting brackets.
Yes. For the rear mounting bracket, use the top hole on 1500 vans and the bottom hole on 2500 and 3500 vans.
