LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality. They have 5" wide treads that extend the full length of the side steps, and they feature a strong, lightweight aluminum core with a stainless steel trim for a bright, clean accent. MegaStep running boards mount easily with vehicle-specific brackets, pre-installed fasteners and an adjustable design to perfectly fit your unique vehicle. LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Ram ProMaster 1500, 2500 and 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Curt 401471 and 571471 are mounting steps designed for 2014-newer RAM ProMaster vans. They are available in two styles: MEGA and GRIP. The steps mount to the vehicle's pinch weld and body panels using brackets, fasteners, and U-nuts. Installation involves drilling holes in the vehicle body and securing brackets to both the driver and passenger sides.
The steps are designed for 2014-newer RAM ProMaster vans. The manual does not specify whether they fit all body styles, lengths, or configurations within that model range. Contact the manufacturer or a fitment specialist to confirm compatibility with your specific ProMaster variant.
The kit includes: 2 front mounting brackets (552430 or 552405), 1 middle rear bracket (552431/552407 for driver side, 552432/552408 for passenger side), 2 spacer brackets, 2 retainer plates, 8 washers (5/16"), 4 U-nuts (1/4-20), 2 self-tapping screws (5/16 x 0.750"), 4 hex cap screws (5/16-18 x 1.00"), 4 washers (5/16"), 6 hex head screws (5/16-18 x 1.00"), 12 hex flange nuts (5/16-18), 4 hex head screws (1/4-20 x 0.750"), and 4 washers (1/4"). Verify all parts are present before starting installation.
You will need an 11/32" drill bit, a 3/16" drill bit, a straight edge (for alignment), and a clamp (to hold the rear bracket in position during marking). A drill and basic hand tools for fastener installation are also required. The manual does not specify additional tools or whether a professional-grade drill is necessary.
The manual does not require door or panel removal. However, you will need to access the pinch weld and angled body surfaces on both sides of the van. Some undercoating will need to be scraped away to allow brackets to sit flat. Ensure you have adequate access to these areas before beginning.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill four holes on the driver side and four on the passenger side. On each side, two holes are drilled with an 11/32" drill bit into the pinch weld, one hole with an 11/32" bit into an angled body surface, and one hole with a 3/16" bit into an angled body surface. The drilling locations are marked using the brackets as a reference before drilling.
Yes. The manual states that undercoating will need to be scraped off so the rear bracket sits flat with the pinch weld, and additional undercoating must be removed to allow the U-nut to slide into place over the 11/32" hole. Undercoating may also need to be removed when installing the U-nut for the front bracket's top hole.
Yes. You must remove the body plug on the angled surface toward the rear of the vehicle (during rear bracket installation) and the body plug located next to the top hole of the front bracket (during front bracket installation). These plugs are removed to allow U-nuts to be installed in their place.
1. Preassemble front brackets with spacer brackets using 5/16-18 bolts, washers, and flange nuts (finger tight only). 2. Mark and drill the front bracket holes (11/32" bit). 3. Attach the front bracket to the pinch weld. 4. Locate and attach the rear bracket to the pinch weld and angled body surfaces, leaving fasteners loose. 5. Align the front bracket with the rear bracket using a straight edge, then drill the front bracket's top hole (11/32" bit). 6. Install U-nuts and tighten all fasteners. Repeat for the passenger side using the same sequence.
First, mark the pinch weld for the front hole of the bracket as shown in the manual's figure. Line up the bracket with the marked hole and mark the second hole location. After drilling, attach the bracket to the pinch weld. The top hole is drilled later. During the final alignment step, place a straight edge on the flat surface of the rear bracket so it sits level with the vehicle, then move the front bracket up or down until its flat surface is level with the straight edge before drilling the top hole.
Locate the vertical body line directly behind the driver's door and follow it down to the pinch weld. The rear bracket mounts behind that line. Place the bracket against the inside of the pinch weld and secure it with a clamp. Scrape away undercoating so the bracket sits flat. Using the bracket's holes as a reference, mark the center of all four holes, then remove the bracket for drilling. After drilling, reinstall the bracket and leave all fasteners loose until the front bracket is aligned and the top hole is drilled.
During preassembly, the 5/16-18 bolts connecting the front bracket and spacer bracket are finger-tightened only. During rear bracket installation, the 5/16-18 bolts and washers connecting the rear bracket to the pinch weld are left loose until all fasteners are ready to be tightened together. All fasteners are tightened after the front bracket's top hole is drilled and aligned.
The front bracket is fastened to the pinch weld using 5/16-18 hex cap screws (item 10), 5/16" washers (item 11), and hex flange nuts (item 13). These are supplied fasteners included in the kit.
The rear bracket is fastened using: 5/16-18 bolts, 5/16" washers, and hex flange nuts (items 5, 7, 12, 13) for the pinch weld area; a 1/4-20 U-nut (item 8) with a 1/4-20 bolt and washer (items 14, 15) for the angled surface hole toward the rear; and a 5/16 x 0.750" self-tapping screw (item 9) for the angled surface hole toward the front.
The front bracket's top hole is fastened using a 1/4-20 U-nut (item 8) with a 1/4-20 hex head screw and washer (items 14, 15). The U-nut is installed through the body plug hole and positioned over the 11/32" hole drilled in the vehicle body.
After drilling the required 11/32" holes, remove the body plug located next to the hole. Slide the 1/4-20 U-nut (item 8) through the body plug hole and position it over the 11/32" hole. Some undercoating may need to be removed to allow the U-nut to slide into place properly. Once positioned, secure the U-nut using a 1/4-20 bolt and washer (items 14, 15).
The passenger side installation follows the same sequence as the driver side (steps 2 through 4), with one difference: the rear bracket used is item 3 (552432 for MEGA or 552408 for GRIP) instead of item 2. All drilling, fastening, and alignment procedures are identical.
Two drill bit sizes are required: 11/32" and 3/16". The 11/32" bit is used for the two holes in the pinch weld and the hole on the angled surface toward the rear of the vehicle. The 3/16" bit is used for the hole on the angled surface toward the front of the vehicle.
The manual emphasizes reading all instructions completely and checking that all required parts are on hand before starting installation. It does not provide specific safety warnings regarding drilling, lifting, or operating the vehicle after installation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when drilling and handling fasteners.
These steps are designed for 2014-newer RAM ProMaster vans. Confirm your van's model year and body style match before purchasing. Contact the manufacturer if you are unsure about compatibility.
You need an 11/32" drill bit, a 3/16" drill bit, a straight edge for alignment, a clamp, a drill, and basic hand tools. All fasteners are included in the kit.
