LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality. They have 5" wide treads that extend the full length of the side steps, and they feature a strong, lightweight aluminum core with a stainless steel trim for a bright, clean accent. MegaStep running boards mount easily with vehicle-specific brackets, pre-installed fasteners and an adjustable design to perfectly fit your unique vehicle. LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Dodge Sprinter 2500 or 3500, Freightliner Sprinter 2500 or 3500 and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The 570744 MEGA/OMEGA step is designed for 2007-newer Sprinter vans. If your van is 2007 or newer, it is compatible. The installation process varies slightly depending on whether your van has rear A/C, but both configurations are supported.
The kit includes: 4 mounting brackets (551959), 3 additional mounting brackets (551938), 7 spacer brackets (552288), 7 retainer plates (552289), 5 U-nuts (105541), 3 self-tapping screws (105537), 14 hex head cap screws (106997), 14 flat washers (100647), 12 hex head screws (100034), and 21 hex flange nuts (100178). Verify all parts are present before starting installation.
If your Sprinter van does not have rear A/C, you will need to remove body plugs located on the rocker panel at specific positions (approximately 9-1/2" and 27-1/2" from the front of the mud flap on the driver side, and at 48-1/2", 68-1/2", and 88-1/2" on the passenger side). If your van has rear A/C, the body plugs remain in place and a different fastening method is used. Scrape away undercoating around the body plugs before removal.
Yes, drilling is required. The specific holes depend on your van's configuration. If your van does not have rear A/C, you will drill a 7/16" hole 1/2" in front of the body plug hole for the U-nut, and 11/32" holes into the pinch weld. If your van has rear A/C, you will drill a 7/32" hole at the marked location and 11/32" holes into the pinch weld. All drilling is permanent.
1. Preassemble brackets with spacer brackets using 5/16-18 bolts, washers, and flange nuts (finger tighten only). 2. Install the front bracket on the driver side (location varies by rear A/C presence). 3. Install the rear bracket on the driver side. 4. Install the front two brackets on the passenger side using the same method as the driver side. 5. Install the rear brackets on the passenger side at the specified locations. 6. Follow the separate installation instructions included with the step assembly itself.
If your van has rear A/C: (1) Place the preassembled bracket in position and ensure it is level with the truck. (2) Mark the hole location using the center round hole in the bracket as a guide. (3) Remove the bracket and center punch the marked hole. (4) Drill with a 7/32" drill bit. (5) Place the bracket back in position and install the 1/4" self-tapping screw (item 5). (6) Use the lower bracket holes as a drilling guide to drill two 11/32" holes into the pinch weld. (7) Fasten using 5/16-18 bolts, washers, retainer plate, and flange nuts.
If your van does not have rear A/C: (1) Locate the body plug on the back side of the rocker panel, approximately 9-1/2" back from the front of the mud flap. (2) Scrape away undercoating and remove the body plug. (3) Drill a 7/16" hole 1/2" in front of the body plug hole and insert the 5/16-18 U-nut (item 4). (4) Place the bracket in position using the top slot and fasten with a 5/16-18 bolt and washer. (5) Use the lower bracket holes as a drilling guide to drill two 11/32" holes into the pinch weld. (6) Fasten using 5/16-18 bolts, washers, retainer plate, and flange nuts, then tighten all fasteners.
The rear bracket on the driver side is installed at approximately 27-1/2" back from the front of the mud flap on the rocker panel. (1) Measure the height of the front bracket from the top to the bottom of the floorboard to help mount the rear bracket level. (2) Using the bracket as a guide, mark the hole using the top slot. (3) Center punch and drill using a 7/32" drill bit. (4) Position the bracket and fasten using the self-tapping screw (item 5), hand tightening only. (5) Repeat the drilling and fastening steps used for the front bracket (drilling 11/32" holes into the pinch weld and fastening with bolts, washers, retainer plate, and flange nuts).
The passenger side has three rear bracket locations. (1) At 48-1/2" from the front of the mud flap: locate the body plug, scrape away undercoating, remove it, drill a 7/16" hole 1/2" back from the opening, insert the 5/16-18 U-nut (item 4), place the preassembled brackets in position using the top slot, and fasten with bolts and washers. Drill two 11/32" holes into the pinch weld and fasten with bolts, washers, retainer plate, and flange nuts. (2) Repeat this process at 68-1/2" and 88-1/2" from the front of the mud flap. Note: only the second, fourth, and sixth body plug locations are used.
Finger tighten only when preassembling the brackets with spacer brackets at the start. When installing the self-tapping screw at the top slot, hand tighten only. Tighten down all fasteners only after the lower bracket is drilled and fastened to the pinch weld with bolts, washers, retainer plate, and flange nuts. The manual does not specify final torque values.
The main fasteners are 5/16-18 bolts. For the top slot attachment (upper mount), use a 5/16-18 bolt with a 5/16" washer. For the pinch weld attachment (lower mount), use 5/16-18 bolts with 5/16" washers, a retainer plate on the back side, and 5/16-18 flange nuts. The self-tapping screw used at the top slot is 5/16 x 1.00 inch. The manual does not provide final torque specifications.
The retainer plate (item 9) is placed on the back side of the pinch weld behind the bolts to distribute the load and secure the fasteners. It is used with the 5/16-18 flange nuts to fasten the lower bracket mount to the pinch weld.
When positioning the bracket, ensure it is level with the truck. For the rear bracket on the driver side, measure the height of the front bracket from the top of the bracket to the bottom of the floorboard; this measurement will help you mount the rear bracket level.
After all brackets are installed and fastened, you must attach the step assembly itself. The manual states: 'Please review the installation instructions that are included in your step assembly for specific details.' The step assembly has its own separate installation instructions that must be followed.
Yes, the 570744 MEGA/OMEGA step is designed for 2007-newer Sprinter vans.
Yes. You will drill 7/16" holes (if no rear A/C) or 7/32" holes (if rear A/C equipped) at the top mount, and 11/32" holes into the pinch weld for the lower mounts.
The manual specifies drill bits (7/16", 7/32", and 11/32"), a center punch, and a scraper for undercoating removal. A wrench or socket set for 5/16-18 fasteners is implied but not explicitly listed. The manual does not provide a complete tools list.
Only if your Sprinter does not have rear A/C. Vans with rear A/C do not require body plug removal. Body plugs are located at specific positions on the rocker panel and must be scraped and removed before drilling.
A total of 10 brackets are installed: 4 main mounting brackets (551959) on the driver side, 3 additional mounting brackets (551938) on the passenger side, and 7 spacer brackets (552288) distributed across both sides. Additionally, 7 retainer plates (552289) are used at the pinch weld attachment points.
No. Finger tighten only when preassembling brackets with spacer brackets. Hand tighten only when installing the self-tapping screw at the top slot. Tighten all fasteners only after the lower bracket is fully drilled and fastened to the pinch weld.
