LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality. They have 5" wide treads that extend the full length of the side steps, and they feature a strong, lightweight aluminum core with a stainless steel trim for a bright, clean accent. MegaStep running boards mount easily with vehicle-specific brackets, pre-installed fasteners and an adjustable design to perfectly fit your unique vehicle. LUVERNE MegaSteps are designed to offer the best features from a variety of side accessory options. Their non-skid rubber treads cover the entire topside of the boards, giving them the functionality and convenience of a running board. However, unlike most running boards, MegaSteps are styled after the popular look of many nerf bars. This makes them a unique and useful extension of your vehicle. To give MegaStep running boards an even greater advantage over other side steps, they are built to outlast the elements. We construct them with a strong, lightweight aluminum base that naturally resists rust, and we finish them with a high-polish stainless steel trim. The trim is a heavy-duty, 18-gauge stainless steel to make it more than just a fancy accent, and its highly polished finish gives the running boards a bright, long-lasting shine. Installation of LUVERNE MegaStep running boards is easy and customizable. The boards come with pre-installed fasteners and attach using high-strength, vehicle-specific mounting brackets. They are also uniquely designed to be adjustable inward, outward, forward or backward, giving you complete freedom to position the steps wherever you want them. This particular set of running boards is designed to fit specific years of the Chevy Express 1500, 2500 or 3500 and GMC Savana 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify fitment). Brackets for these running boards are included but ship separately.
LUVERNE MegaStep 6-1/2" running boards are the ultimate combination of style and functionality, featuring 5" wide rubber treads that extend the full length of the side steps for dependable, non-skid traction wherever the road takes you.

LUVERNE has manufactured truck accessories in the United States since 1963, specialising in grille guards, running boards, side steps and mud guards for pickups, commercial vans and SUVs. Products are built primarily from stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel, with model-specific mounting kits that use existing frame locations for a bolt-on installation.
LUVERNE has been manufacturing automotive accessories in the United States since 1963, and six decades of continuous production have made it a nationally recognised name in the truck accessory market. Now a Lippert brand, it concentrates on a defined set of products rather than spreading across the whole aftermarket: front-end protection, step access and spray protection for pickup trucks, commercial vans and sport utility vehicles.
Step products are the largest part of the catalog and the range is unusually deep, because the right step depends on the vehicle's ride height, the width of the rocker panel and how often people get in and out. The O-Mega II six-inch oval steps give a wide, flat standing surface in polished stainless or black powder coat, while the Regal 7 seven-inch oval steps go wider still for full-size crew cabs and lifted trucks. The broader running board and side bar range covers round tube, oval and boxed profiles across cab configurations, with treads positioned at the door openings where they are used.
Grille guards protect the front end against impacts, brush and road debris, built in tubular stainless or steel with model-specific brackets that tie into factory frame mounting points. Because the fit is engineered per vehicle, installation is a bolt-on job that does not require drilling or cutting on most applications.
Rounding out the line, LUVERNE mud guards and mud flaps shield rocker panels, paint and following vehicles from stones and road spray, in widths matched to the tyre and fender they sit behind. Material choice runs through everything the brand does: stainless steel where appearance and corrosion resistance matter most, aluminium where weight is the priority, and mild steel with protective coating where strength and value lead. Customers include contractors, fleet operators, van upfitters and truck owners.

The Model 571345 MEGA STEPS are designed for 2003 and newer Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans with a 135" wheelbase. If your van meets these specifications, the product is compatible. Verify your van's model year and wheelbase before purchasing.
The kit includes the step assembly (575098), six mounting brackets (two front, two center, two rear), load reaction bolts and hardware, spring shackle mounting hardware, square head screws, flange nuts, washers, spacer washers, cap plugs, and rubber washers. All items are listed in the Service Parts List on page 2 of the manual.
The manual does not specify which tools are required for installation. Contact the manufacturer or an authorized installer to confirm the tools needed before beginning work.
Yes. You must remove the front body mounting bolts (one on each side of the vehicle) and the nuts and washers from the front spring shackle bolts on both sides. These factory fasteners and components will be reused as part of the installation.
Install the front mounting brackets first (steps 1-4), then the center mounting brackets (steps 5-8), then the rear mounting brackets at the spring shackles (step 10). Repeat all steps on the right side (step 11). Then install the square head screws in the step plates (step 12), position the MEGA STEP on the brackets (step 13), align the step height (step 14), and tighten the step plate bolts (step 15). Measure bracket heights after installing the first and second brackets to ensure the third bracket is at the same dimension.
For 1500 vans, install the U-nut in the top hole of the mounting bracket. For 2500 and 3500 vans, install the U-nut in the bottom hole. This applies to both the front mounting bracket (item #2) and the center mounting bracket (item #4).
The step end of each mounting bracket should be perpendicular to the outside body of the vehicle. This applies to both the front mounting bracket (item #2) and the center mounting bracket (item #4).
Tighten the front mounting bracket bolt to 65 lb-ft. Tighten the center mounting bracket bolt to 65 lb-ft. Both bolts should be installed with the factory washer and rubber cushion between the mounting bracket and the body mount.
Tighten the spring shackle bolt to 65 lb-ft after installing the black spacer washer, mounting bracket, and 5/8" flat washer.
Tighten the step plate bolts to 19 foot pounds of torque. The square head screws should be finger-tightened only when first installed, then tightened to the final specification after the step is aligned.
Install a 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (item #10) on the 3/8"-16 x 5" hex bolt (item #9) with the flange facing toward the end of the bolt, turned on just short of the head. Screw the bolt into the U-nut. When it comes through the other side, start another flange nut facing the same direction as the first. Turn the nut on until there is 3/4" protruding from the face of the nut. Install a 3/8" flat washer (item #18) and the .354 x 1.00 x .748 rubber washer (item #14) into the end of the bolt. Adjust so the rubber cushion is snug against the frame and tighten the outside flange nut.
Install a 3/8"-16 serrated flange nut (item #10) on the 3/8"-16 x 1-3/4" hex bolt (item #8) with the flange facing toward the end of the bolt, turned on just short of the head. Screw the bolt into the U-nut. When it comes through the other side, adjust the load reaction bolt assembly so the rubber plug is snug against the frame and tighten the outside flange nut.
Position the MEGA STEP so the square head screws are located in the slots of the mounting brackets and the step is centered front to rear on the vehicle. Finger-tighten the 5/16" serrated flange nuts only at this time. Then align the step plate with the bottom of the body sheet metal so the top of the step is approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. Finally, tighten the step plate bolts to 19 foot pounds of torque.
After mounting the first and second brackets, measure from the bottom of the body flange down to the bottom of the mounting brackets to ensure they are the same height. When installing the third bracket, adjust it to this same dimension before tightening the bolts.
The .364 x .625 cap plug (item #13) is installed onto the end of the U-nut on the center mounting bracket (item #4). It is part of the load reaction bolt assembly for the center bracket.
Four square head screws, 5/16"-18 x 1" (item #16), are installed in the front track of the step plates. These screws are included in the step assembly and are used to attach the step to the mounting brackets.
Yes. The factory bolts, steel washers, and rubber cushions from the front body mounting points are removed and then reused when installing the front mounting brackets. The factory nut from the spring shackle bolt is also saved and reused.
Yes, if your van has a 135" wheelbase. The MEGA STEPS are designed specifically for 2003 and newer Express and Savana vans with this wheelbase.
Yes. The kit includes all mounting brackets, bolts, nuts, washers, spacers, and cap plugs needed for installation. The square head screws and flange nuts are included in the step assembly.
Yes. You must remove the front body mounting bolts and the nuts and washers from the front spring shackle bolts on both sides. These factory fasteners are reused in the installation.
Tighten the front and center body mounting bolts to 65 lb-ft, the spring shackle bolt to 65 lb-ft, and the step plate bolts to 19 foot pounds of torque.
The top of the step should be approximately 2-1/2" from the bottom of the body panel. Align the step plate with the bottom of the body sheet metal before final tightening.
Yes. For 1500 vans, install the U-nut in the top hole. For 2500 and 3500 vans, install the U-nut in the bottom hole of the front and center mounting brackets.
